Okay, so who is this "Mel?"?????????? She means ME, Mel... See Spookie thinks I am rather loose in my morals, or moralis, or morbid whatever! I'm generally not sick... at least not my body... DID take a rather embarrassing spill in noted alley one day... I mean night...

But I'm as good as new now... almost... probably never again... only sometimes.

Ah geez, wait...... I'm sorry MMom... I can't imagine, losing someone with so much future ahead of them.....

Blondie, don't go gettin' no more screwed up.... You can't afford it... And what are YOU doing up all night? Isn't that supposed to be ME? And the Cammi? That little DICKENS is not doing well... She sent me a short email.... I have to muster up enough Big Sister stuff, and get her out of her whatever she is in. She has this PROBLEM that is just wringing her out... I just KNEW she was sick.... but I'll let you know....

YES! VERONICA LAKE! She was a SIREN! That's what they called her.... ! See Mel, I may be old, but I can run circles around THESE gals... they are all panty-waists. Little Spookie is such a little doll...!

Okay.... more from the front.... Been working in my gardens... planted that Kale... toted that barge, and resumed my Trek across the Himalaya's.

My work as a Pole Dancer is just ONE of my many talents... I must leave now... coffee calling.

Thanks to all for the warm welcome!

Spookie looks soooo adorable - definitely the model pose!

Yes, the pup in the avatar is my little Chugg - her name is Dixie and she is part Chihuahua (which I have to google how to spell every time I type it) and part Pug. She is feisty like a Chihuahua and loveable like a Pug! We adopted her a year ago and she joined our beagle, Spencer who is 12.

A little about me - I'm 48, married and have 2 daughters. My oldest is graduating college next month and my youngest is in 11th grade. I work part time (25 hrs a week). My challenges right now - trying to figure out what I should eat! I have Celiac, so I am gluten free and have had trouble with dairy and soy for a few years, so those two categories are out as well. I also have some blood sugar issues, not enough to be on meds, but enough that I should limit carbs. Have been trying to limit sugary items too, both for blood sugar and bc reasons. I'm not a "whip up a meal in an instant" person, so I need to get in the habit of planning things out a little better.

Sorry, Chevy - pole dancing is not one of my talents, so I won't be able to join you in that! I must admit...I did read back a few pages and I did suspect Spookie was talking about you! I love your friend quote - that's a good one. My sister-in-law just recently moved to CO from Raleigh, NC. Not sure what part they are in...they're downsizing from a house to a condo and are looking now. My nephew and his family have been living in Greeley for a few years and my other niece and nephew moved to CO over the summer as well, so now only one niece is still in NC.

blondie - enjoy the time away at the conference and hope your ankle gets better soon. Maybe being away will be just what you need to readjust your sleeping!

mostlymom - so sorry to hear about your daughter's best friend.

Gotta go run some errands and figure out what to buy for dinner tonight!

  • Mostly. - sorry. How very hard. Thoughts are with you and your daughter.

Blondie. - what ??? You are going out on the town. ??? Live it up !!!! Yes so happy for you. Paced yourself. I bet there beds give a good nap too. Just don't forget to set the alarm. Mostlymom- sorry for your daughters loss. Esphogeal cancer is a hard one. I am glad they had time to be together to say goodbyes. I am sure her heart is broken. Peace to her and the family of this young woman.

Blondie- you go girl! A conference where you can learn things, get fed, etc. It will be really good to get away from all the frustrations at home.May your connections there be helpful to ensure you get better things to help you for the longer term. Happy for you.

Teka- tell old man winter to get lost! LOL! It is cooler here today.

Wishing everyone else a good day!

Just flying through. It is insomniac time here.

Mostly sending loads of hugs. I know it's so hard. We have just lost one of DH's younger cousins in a road accident. It has absolutely hit the family so hard.

People can be really odd when you are dealing with dx and tx. It says more about them than you. I have had to cast aside some friends and relatives as they just sap ones energy. Then others who you least expect are just wonderful. As Chevy said there is no cure for stupid.

Have finished my cup of tea so had better try to sleep.

    Hugs to all.

Welcome, Mel! Welcome to the parliament of Owlettes!

    Meet Rose:

    image

Doesn't she look like the sweetest thing? Don't let her looks fool you. She is a Schnoodle, so she's part poodle, so she's a diva, and part schnauzer, which means she has an adventurous streak. Do not let her near an open door. We have airlocks in this house, so there's always a space between her and any door except to her safely fenced yard. Only this morning, it turns out it was not so safe after all. Our storm last night blew down a tree and blew the locked gate wide open. We didn't see it until it was too late, and she was off running. And she's fast as a cheetah, too, no catching her. Cousin and I jump in her van and go after her. We are one block away from a very busy street. Out into traffic she goes! Fortunately the cars stop for the crazy lady frantically waving her arms and screaming at the dog. Rose turns and runs back into our little neighborhood, which is only 3 blocks long and both ends empty into the same busy street. I'm on foot, cousin in van, chasing her down the 3 blocks. Finally there is a neighbor lady outside. Rose loves strangers. Lady grabs a handful of dog food from her garage, Rose comes right up to her. Lady grabs the scruff of her neck and I go scoop her up.

Rose has had her adventure, I am traumatized and exhausted, and the gate is still hanging by a hinge. Like so:

I think I'll go back to bed.

Rose, you shouldn't almost give your mommie a heart attack like that!!!!

Mags, a nap sounds good, take the neighbor lady some chocolate, and give cuz a hug!!!

    Whew!!!!!

  • Alyson, I am so sorry, I hope the family can find comfort and support from each other. Sudden losses can be devastating. Sending a bottomless basket of hugs to be used as needed. Cheryl

Teka - your snow is beautiful, but I must say I'm glad it is warming up here! Hope your spring is just around the corner, too!

PattyPepper - Thanks, Patty! It is nice to be able to jump right in and be welcomed!!

Mags - Rose is absolutely precious and yes, her looks did fool me! I never would have guessed she is so adventuresome!! What a crazy morning you had tracking her down - so glad you got her back safe and sound. Looks like that tree really messed things up. Dixie has dug holes under the fence twice and escaped. We have some large rocks and extra fence strategically placed, but I think we are going to have to add some more since she recently started digging again after she saw a rabbit scoot under the fence.

Alyson - so sorry for the loss of your DH's cousin.

Mommyof2 - enjoy your relax time after getting the chores done!!!

  • Alyson. - so sorry for your families unexpected loss

  • it's a beautiful day here. High of 78. Sunny but gonna rain and cool off a but later. Yea ! Here comes the Sun. Yea Soring !

Mags - Well Rose's motto could certainly be Dixie's!! I'm going to have to copy that photo! Speak of the little devils...my husband let them out and they are now barking up a storm. Gotto go help retrieve them...the story of my life with dogs!!

Beachbum- beautiful eagle. In your area?

  • jazzygirl, The eagle nest is down the street in the woods behind the elementary school. There is a nesting pair. I just got a new Fuji S1 camera with a 50X zoom, so I hope to get better pictures of them when I figure out the camera! The nest is impressive.

Beachbum - great picture! We had some birds in a nest in the neighbor's tree and I decided I was going to try to get some close up pictures. I thought I had taken the most awesome shots because they looked great when viewing them on the camera...then I put them on my computer. I had never seen soooooo much bird poop in all my life!! The nest was absolutely covered with it. Blech! Hopefully Eagles keep their nest a little cleaner!

Beachie- We have eagles here too! Aren't their nests just amazingly enormous! I am thrilled when I get to see them.

Teka-whew..more snow eh? Beautiful but it's April and I need sun. Sunny and lovely here today but a storm front and rain for Sat-Mon. Better go cut the grass. Holeinone--great photo. Spookie- spookie is so cute! Mags- OMD what a morning... I can commiserate having done that umpteen times before with different dogs! Exhausting for sure. Yay for the neighbor with dog food! Rosie is a pistol! Our little Ruby will just take off out any open door and run until she hits something or her attention gets rerouted... like oooh a leaf, a shadow... the original ADHD poster pup. Our Ruby is a Chihauhau/ doxie/ russel mix, sweet but missing a lot upstairs. Alyson so sorry about the sudden passing. Lots of (((hugs))) your way. Patty yay you are up and not in the slammer! Blondie- may you have a lovely time at the conference! Enjoy socializing and learning new things. Howdie ho to everyone I forgot to mention.

Mom2!!!! I grew UP using Avon! PM me too, I want to see if Avon still sells their great brushes! I have most of one, and I use it everymorning STILL!

It is amber color, with "natural" bristles. I met my Avon Lady when I was about 24... She told me I had to use cream on my face, to keep it wrinkle free...Ha! But since those years, I have always made my own creams, etc. I bought an expensive one, and I read what all the ingredients were, so I started making my own... Ingredients that worked for me...

Mel, I watched a Robin's nest one time! Both the "parents" would "clean" out the babies mess every time, Ha! I watched them take it away, AND the hatched shells... they didn't want squirrels, etc. to know where they were, I was told.

    image

One time, they made a nest in a hanging house plant basket..on our front porch.... I could only water it when they were both gone! It is so interesting to watch all this going on....

I think there are live-stream websites that show Eagles with their chicks...
