Rest day yesterday and boot camp tonight.

5/19- nice evening walk for 2 miles/35 minutes. I got 11K plus steps going so far today.
Ruth-stay warm. It feels more like fall here than spring right now.

5k run tonight after a late meeting. Wasn't even tired at the end!!! Still need to do weights, and finish making a Chicken Marsala. Having with the yummy asparagus I brought back from Eastern Washington.
I think I have better endurance now that I am done with the AI. Plus noticed that some general achiness has disappeared. I also think my skin looks better. This could all be my imagination, but the not having hip pain is a major bonus. Not that it ever stopped me, but it was there.
Gorgeous gloaming this evening. - Claire

Ruth my windows are streaked after the rain but I only clean windows when I have house guests coming
Reader I have found that exercise has become addicting and posting here has kept me motivated.Tonight was Body Pump followed by my favourite Body Jam, but oh my poor legs after that Grit class yesterday were really screaming

Enjoying the daily exercise updates and Fitbit comparisons. As an analog woman, I'm more inclined to go with over-time consistent results yet, the motivation by tracking all-day activity does increase movement and sense of achievement. Like the shared photos too, although snow in May is diabolical.
In our home, our 16 year old is in the middle of GCSE exams. It would be difficult to explain to you other than, the 14 exams are the culmination of all he has learned in high school, creates some tension and teen strop on a daily basis. Our son goes to a selective boy's grammar school so the bar is set high for him to stay there for A levels. I have faith he will do well, he is a bright lad, yet, being a teen in the UK is a pressure cooker if you want to attend uni. US SAT scores that can be re-taken are a terrific option but then, I tend to romanticize teen life in the US over what my kid experiences here.
I've been shadowing body balance and learning more tracks by rote. I'm at the front of the class on my mat next to the instructor and it's helpful as left is right and right is left. I tned to yap too much and need to shut up offering two cues per body part direction. They also have to listen to my flat California nasal which I'm sure is grating next to flowing, proper English. Today, I'll ask to teach tracks 4&5. Skipping vi-box as it's a burns me out and I have to scoot over by 1 o'clock to another gym to practice my Level 3 Medical Referral practical assessment - this Saturday morning. I have a hypothetical referred client named Harold, who weighs 105Kg (231.49 lbs), stage 1 (stable on medication) hypertension (high blood pressure), clinically depressed and taking prozac. I run Harold (actually my pert, blonde, slim lycra clad classmate) though a series of warm-ups, main exercises and cool-down lasting 50 minutes that in four weeks, becomes a phenomenal start to get his life turned around. Operative word being "start".
Don't know if you follow the Chelsea Flower Show, yet two charities I support won medals. Breakthrough Breast Cancer won the Silver Gilt Medal and The Haven Breast Cancer Support won a Gold Medal. I'm thrilled as Chelsea is not an easy win by a long shot and both beautiful, sensitively sculptured gardens where lead for and by women designers - brilliant!
Let's all keep at it, thanks to all of you, I'm here fumbling around on my mat in the background.

Wow, Lilac. You are rocking it!
Good luck to DS......sounds very stressful, but I think teenage life is stressful everywhere (for the teenagers & equally so for the parents of teenagers!). Claire, I also felt an overall 'lightening' once I was done with Als. Maybe it was totally psychological (because I felt good on it), but nice either way!
HaHa Cheryl, about the windows....I am hosting my Book Club here tomorrow night and it will still be light when they arrive at 7:00 pm.....
Off to walk; it is 39 degrees but sunny and windless. MAYBE I will dare to plant my annuals this weekend......

For my friends here who like to do yoga, this will make you smile!

A gorgeous day for a walk in the park!

oh Jazzy that was so funny and so true. Any kind of stretch or floor exercise to my dog means he's going to get a belly rub or its play time.
Ruth now that's the kind of weather we want to see!
Rainy and cold here today so I'm not sure I'll get in any exercise. Yesterday I had a twenty minute walk and day before the same. Looking forward to nice walking weather arriving tomorrow.

Thanks hbcheryl, it IS motivating and I read every post. 30 minute walk today at noon around the lake, breezy and cool. One of about 4 days each spring we get before humidity sets in. I saw an egret, mamma and baby ducks, and turtles.

Loved the video Jazzy. I have the same issue when doing floor exercises with my two dogs.
Lilacblue, you rock. And I agree that being a teenager is difficult period.
No exercise today as long day at work but will get back to bootcamp tomorrow night. Have an extra workout planned for Saturday so will definitely catch up.
Good night all

Ruth that is a beautiful park, you girls must have enjoyed your walk this morning. Jazzy that was too funny, I had posted that last screen shot to my friends FB wall as she has a little 5 month old kitten who gets in front of the camera when she is filming her yoga. LB your poor DS I know he is under so much pressure, I know you will take very good care of 'Harold' and yes you have to now think your left is right and your right is left, btw my friend Nichol is on the cover of the BF69 release she is the one closest to the front with black hair.
This morning did Sh'bam and tonight Body Combat, it was quite funny it was the same instructor for both classes and we were both dressed exactly the same for both classes, this morning I had on black top and pants and my very colorful dance shoes and she had on black/black and the same shoes and tonight we both had orange tops on, I posted on her wall that it was like we were twinsies except there's a 35 year age and a 60lb difference, yeah twinsies

5/20- hour at the gym tonight doing abs, some core/resistance work, and wrapped up with some TRX. I cannot believe how busy it is there after 9 p.m.!

Big shout out to you ambitious ladies like ruthbru, hbcheryl, lilacblue, and others who are managing to get in two or more fitness classes a day. Holy cow! How do you find the time? You girls motivate me to work harder!
Exercise today was a four-mile trail run. Going to a fun wine and shopping event tonight with a friend called Sip, Shop, and Stroll. Hope I don't do too much sipping which tends to lead to way to much shopping and not enough strolling

HaHa! Life is all about balance
.Did my Cardio Sculpt class this morning, cleaned up & headed over to the school where I subbed the rest of the day. Zoomed home, made a dessert, cleaned up the kitchen & bathroom, and am now awaiting the arrival of my Book Club.
Today I got some nice thank you cards from the 7th graders I did the Abraham Lincoln talk for; my favorite being, "You are a great teller of stories." Sweet!!!!

LB: I am so impressed with your hard work, dedication, talent, and desire to do what you are doing. May your ds feel your love and concern for him.
Jazzy: Cute video!
Ruth: I have been privileged to hear your stories and that student nailed it!
Hi All. I've been under the weather with a stomach bug that's going around
so no activity for me. Not 100% better yet but feeling much better that a few days ago. Hope to get back in the swing of things starting tomorrow.0 -
Feel better soon Wonderland.
Went to bootcamp tonight.Tomorrow will be a light workout day as I am participating in a military style challenge workout Saturday morning. It consists of a one mile run, 100 pull-ups (yes, I will use the assist method), 200 push-ups, 300 squats before a final one mile run. Proceeds are going to a local military assistance group.
Safe travels to anyone traveling for the holiday weekend. Wishing everyone a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend.

Meijo I only have me to worry about, no family so I can do as I please hence sometimes I go to the gym twice a day. Feel better Wonderland. Ruth that kid got it right, you are a great storyteller. Odie those quads are going to be screaming on Sunday but I know you can do it.
Tonight did Body Jam I cricked my neck at one point as I was so busy throwing myself around the dance floor

LB just read there was an earthquake in Kent, hope all is okay, you probably feel right at home being a Cali girl!!!

Jazzy-loved the yoga w/pets clip-thanks! My ocd border collie does her best to get my attention when my mat is down. Go Odie, wow, those high reps would really wack me out. Cheryl, never woke nor felt the house shaking and old hand that I am at California quakes, 4.2 is nothing, lol!
Thank you Wonderland and all of you. My passion has deepened by starting Pink Ribbon Pilates with another instructor, my friend Jennie - now 2 and half years on and wanting to see PRP grow because there is really next to nothing 65 miles out of London for women and men, like ourselves. The difference here is that you have to have recognized qualifications to do anything. In the UK, one cannot just show up at a Les Mills training on a dare, like I've read on US blogs. To take any Les Mills training here, you have to at least have a Gym Level 2 or ETM (exercise to music) qualification. The course I've really been setting my sights on is the Level 4 cancer rehab. Just so happens, there will be one offered down (the edge of Kent - near the white cliffs of Dover) this way in the autumn. Finishing my Level 3 course tomorrow morning, sets me up to be able to take the cancer rehab course and PRP has offered to pay the £595 course fee. Once PRP has a cancer qualified instructor (as stated, qualifications are everything), nation wide Macmillan Cancer Support will then, hopefully, come on board and perhaps more doors can open, for this little, local grassroots charity. We shall see.
Each night this week, BBC has a 8pm hour long programme that highlights Chelsea Flower Show. Last night they talked about Breakthrough Breast Cancer garden. The Silver Gilt Medal was won because it was so beautiful, amazing and clever. The garden is based around a DNA double helix shape represented by a beautiful stone pathway, crossed by a ribbon of soft pink planting. There are water pools that ripple up and down every 10 minutes to represent the shocking statistics of women diagnosed with breast cancer in the UK. A sculpture by Rick Kirby, is designed to symbolize the courage and dignity of all those fighting the disease and representing women who will be helped by the charity. Designer Ruth Willmott claims this garden has particular meaning to her. She lost her late sister-in-law Angela to breast cancer (triple negative)
in 2014 aged 49 years. Angela was an incredibly positive person throughout her life and Ruth wanted something positive to come from her death, so that others may benefit in the future. 0 -
LB, beautiful! I also love your vision for PRP.
Odie, good luck! I'd need to be carried out in a stretcher if I tried that.
Feel better wonderland !
Cheryl, careful with the neck! I am still not recovered from the whiplash-like injury from my mammo two months ago. Zumba last Tuesday was too much jumping and turning I was dizzy half the time.
The sun is shining today so will get out on my bike then have a massage later today to work on those nasty trigger points.

Beautiful garden LB. Here's some more photos I found https://www.rhs.org.uk/shows-events/rhs-chelsea-fl... I wanted to get a closer look at the statue. i don't know if I mentioned it but I was in a cancer exercise program and my trainer was a 2time breast cancer survivor so she had a similar passion as you.
Reader as you'll see I'm a "walk around the lake" girl too. it's my favorite place to walk.
27 minute walk yesterday and 31today and also planted some flowers today.

I got 12,000 steps with no 'exercise' today.....subbed, bought $$$$$ worth of flowers, planted for 2 1/2 hours, went and bought more potting soil, checked on my old friend at the nursing home (since I can't make our coffee date tomorrow), and dropped off a graduation present. I am tired!!!

I had planned on leaving work early and do a hair color refresh and run. I left late and did the 5k run (plus they didn't have the right color in the supermarket). Still have weights, and then dinner and an early night. Will do a 35 mile group ride in the AM, then head into Seattle for a hair trim. Color moves to Sunday.
Nice to have dinner waiting because I made Chicken Marsala earlier in the week. Still working on the 4 lb of asparagus I brought back from last weekend. Thinking peas as the other veggie. I know, limited, but all will change tomorrow as plan to visit the farmers market tomorrow on my way back from the group ride.
Ate my first berries of the season. Forget what kind, but was assured by a gentleman I chatted with about 2 months ago that safe to eat. Don't exactly agree on "delicious" but more than OK tasting.
Off to dinner! - Claire

TwoHobbies, this article has a close up of the wonderful statue:http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-3085280/Designer-reveals-losing-sister-law-breast-cancer-inspired-garden-shaped-like-DNA-Chelsea-Flower-Show.html At mid-day today, Chelsea closes so it's a quick week and the gold standard - the mother of all flower shows. I didn't know you were in a "cancercise" program; thanks for sharing and it's this thread that stoked the flames of my passion. Thank you amazing fit women!
I'm off in a bit to the gym for my final practical assessment. Thinking of you Odie and your inspiring challenge. Bank holiday weekend here too (3 day weekend) and as usual, the weather is iffy - spring rain and grey - oh well hoping we can still have our first barbecue of the year, one of these 3 days.

5/23- lovely evening walk for about 25 minutes. Off to the gym we go today.

A nice morning here. I took a long walk & now we are off to watch our sports playing godson in the regional baseball tournament. If they win, they go to state. If they lose, they go home. The pressure is ON!

Thanks lilac for the additional pictures. Something about that statue just spoke to me.
Beautiful day here. I got flower beds weeded and containers planted. 2.5 hours of that and 25 minute walk. Fun but my feet hurt.

Looks like the weather is helping a lot of us move a bit more! Two hobbies, I do love walking around the lake-lots of baby and mamma ducklings tonight. I did 30 minutes again and met my goal this week for exercising 4x!

5/23- an hour at the gym for resistance training on top of a busy day getting ready for a friend who came over for dinner. Nothing like company to make you clean! I think I have done my personal best today with steps, over 17K and counting! Whew!
