#4, I'm taking my cues from you ruthbru!

Hbcheryl, you need to swing your arms while stuffing those envelopes 😉

    Have fun Kat!!

Did 18,000 steps yesterday. Walked 18 holes with dh and ds on golf course. Today, 60 flights of stairs cleaning the basement. Yikes!

Thanks for posting the tips, Ruth. I really like #10.

    littleblue: Good luck with Taxol.

Cheryl: I can't imagine filling 25,000 envelops! Glad you went to your "appointment" instead of staying to 10.

    meljo: That's some serious cleaning!

    Walked/ran late this afternoon.

3 mile walk. It is all I can do right now. Struggling with the restrictions from bursitis in my hip.

Great tips, Ruth.  Thanks for posting.  I copied them so I can remind myself.   I had read before that certain exercises and meditation do change how your body reacts to stress.  They mentioned yoga, qi gong, tai chi.    I hope it is all exercise because I haven't done a whole lot of those three.

Cheryl maybe some dance music would keep you at work longer!

Rhody you amaze me with the rowing.  I don't have much upper body strength so I can't imagine enjoying that except being on the water part! I have a friend who dragon boats and she's always trying to get me to join.

Meljo I have a basement you can get a work out on.  Come on over!

    Kat, have a great vacation.

Late yesterday I started to feel better, so I went for a 40 minute walk.  We are having the intermittent showers here again, so I'm not sure what exercise I'll get in today.

Lots of walking today while running errands followed by some leisurely swimming in the pool. Tomorrow will have lots of walking while attending my niece's high school graduation. Unfortunately, it will be followed by lots of eating at the celebratory dinner. Happy

Well, I am back from my baseball weekend. It was two days of freezing cold temperatures, icy winds swirling about,  and our team played TERRIBLE....so I guess it a was an exercise in 'character building'. Bawling

Rhody, if you haven't read Daniel James Brown's The Boys In The Boat- Nine Americans and Their Epic Quest for Gold at the 1936 Berlin Olympics, you should do so. It is a tremendous read even for people who don't know about crew, boat racing etc. but since you do, you would find the book even more thrilling. (It was so good that I had tears rolling down my cheeks at the end!).

Kindergarten, you will have to give a full report of the Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett concert. That sounds fabulous!!!

Littleblue, I'm so glad you are done with AC. Hopefully you will sail through Taxol. When you are done with it, you are done with chemo; so you are closing in on it anyway!

I did lots of stadium walking too & hit the treadmill for awhile when we got home tonight. Graduation is tomorrow here too. We are invited to 5 Open Houses......so yikes, I will be doing lots of eating with Odie!

Ruth you looked really frozen in your FB pics, sorry about the loss. Wonderland you could stop by here and flick the feather duster around as I am having a can't be bothered with cleaning day today. Kathy have a great evening and not only is it a long walk it's also a traffic nightmare but the show itself sounds fabulous. TH yesterday my steps were horrible 3600 for the entire day, I worked in the morning just standing and in the afternoon I went and packed up the kitchen for my friend who is moving today, she's 8 months pregnant and I just wanted to help her out so today I am pleased to say that by noon I had over 12000 steps, what a difference a day makes.

This morning I went to the grand opening of a new 24 Hour Fitness, all I can say is oh wow, what a facility, it's in an old department store space in a mall, the swimming pool is outdoors on the 3rd floor and the basketball court is on the roof it's more like a resort, I did Body Pump Express followed by RPM and then Body Combat Express then a preview of a class where you have these little balls and they go on the pressure points and you roll and release all the muscle fiber, all I can say is that it was "interesting" Snooze

Cheryl we have a Lifetime Fitness that is like a resort.  Three stories.  Tres expensive so I'll probably never join but it is just gorgeous.

    Littleblue I can't believe you're doing a 4 mile jog mid-chemo.  You are strong!

Ruth we had that nasty weather yesterday.  Cool but better today so I hope you are experiencing an improvement.

Odie all I have done is eat celebrating memorial day and my 22nd wedding anniversary.  I need to get back on the program next week.  Maybe we can all have a break until the next holiday, 4th of July!

50 minute lawn mowing session today, then a 25 minutes weed and sculpt and a 25 minute walk.

Fallen off the wagon this week with my exercise, outside of some yoga classes. Back to the gym first thing tomorrow morning!

Here is a cool article about a 92 year cancer survivor who is running marathons

That IS cool....although it still doesn't make me want to run marathons Happy

Did a Denise Austin DVD, Shrink Your Fat Zones, and then expanded the fat zones again by eating my way through graduation parties all afternoon and evening.

I was thrilled to see this article. Hoping I can do the equivalent cycling by the time I get there.

I got out and did about 35 miles on my bicycle today. Can't tell exactly how much as my trip gizmo died needs replacing. I just replaced my smartphone today with a much smarter phone. Loving the speech recognition technology for texting.

My guy is missing me but buried in work at the moment. Can't wait for school to be out and not just for summer vacation!

Saw 3 deer in my travels today. Was chatting with an elderly gent out with his dog. His highlight of the winter was having a young bear decide that the crawl space underneath house would make a cozy den for the winter. Decided otherwise when roused from his "nap".

big excitement. My lovely friend Ying is coming to town. She is a research scientist, but gave up her career 2 years ago when her daughter was born. Since then, she and her husband have moved from Boston back to Hong Kong. And are living in a tiny flat with the in-laws. I think they are looking to come back to the States. I also think she isn't quite the dutiful daughter her in-laws wanted. My photographs have inspired her, and she needs to talk. Fortunately, at tasting rooms (but not bars), you are welcome to bring children. So I will see her on Friday most likely.

Busy week ahead. Wish me luck! - Claire

I loved the article too. Thank you for posting it.

I walked 30 minutes around the lake today. Storms and even flooding was predicted for late afternoon so I wanted to get my walk in early!

littleblue: I imagine your onc told you about Taxol and hand foot syndrome. Taxol went to my heels - they peeled so much I thought my bone was going to be exposed. I used a horse ointment on my heels and wrapped them in gauze because it was messy. It was also difficult to walk around the house or anywhere else but I didn't do much walking during Taxol.

Dh and I each mowed for 1 1/2 hours today.

Saw the article on the marathon runner and think people like her and those who still jog/cycle during chemo are my inspiration on the days where my exercise enthusiasm wanes. Tried not to totally over indulge at the graduation celebration and made sure to get to bootcamp tonight.

Hi, Cheryl!! Lots of waking on Saturday night at the Hollywood Bowl! I am not sure what to say about the concert!! Tony Bennett is a class act and Lady Gaga has a beautiful voice!! But her costumes are just too crazy for me!!!

Wonderland, I haven't started taxol yet...not until friday. Was taxol awful for you? I asked him about hand and foot syndrome a few weeks ago and he said I didn't have it. I think I do though...it's the balls of my feet sort of patchy red and the very easy blistering on my toes. I know it isn't athletes foot lol...it's totally different. I should have been icing after jogging all along...now I am for sure. Any other tips?

I wonder if Bag Balm would help? It originally was used by farmers for their cow's udders, but I know lots of people who have used it for extremely dry, patchy skin. You can get it at places like Walmart, Walgreens etc. and on Amazon too.

littleblue: Sorry about your feet. Icing would probably help. Bag Balm, like Ruth suggested, would help also. Actually, it was Bag Balm that I used on my heels (it's for cows, not horses). Everyone has different responses and I can only tell you my experience with Taxol. It not only made my heels peel terribly, it also made every joint in my body ache like they have never ached before. I hurt from head to toe. After the 2nd of my 4 treatments, I cried to my dh I couldn't do the next 2. My onc prescribed Vicodin and that helped me get through the last 2. Someone on this board wrote that Taxol "Taxes All" and I totally agree! That was 8 years ago and I am so thankful for all the treatments I had and for all the ladies before me who went on trials to determine what drugs will work.

Hopefully Taxol will be kind to you!

Hi all!  I somehow deleted this thread from my favorites and had trouble finding it again.  I was missing all of you!

hbcheryl, yay on the new shoes!  I have a bit of a running shoe addiction.  I have about a dozen pairs or so.  DH just rolls his eyes at me every time a new Asics box shows up from Amazon.  Will send photo later...

littleblue, you are awesome!  Run as much as you can.  I found I really burned up a lot of anger while pounding the pavement.  I placed 3rd in a 5K less than eight weeks post-surgery (just lumpectomy, not mx).  And I didn't do chemo, only radiation, so I can only imagine how much determination and strength it must take.  Be careful though.  Listen to your body.  I was stubborn and pushed myself too hard ending up with the worst viral infection of my life right in the middle of rads.  It was a nightmare.  Take care of yourself!

Sunday I ran 3.2 miles and did 9 holes of golf with DH and DS.  It was my first game of golf ever and I am incredibly inept at it, but I was proud of myself for trying and sticking it out through nine.  Definitely need to hit the practice holes before trying it again.  DH was laughing at me for running from hole to hole instead of riding in the cart.  Ha!  Had to get those steps in - over 17,000 that day.  Last night I went with my son to his gym, Snap Fitness.  They had some machines I hadn't tried before, like the water rower and Jacob's Ladder.  Yikes!  I'm sore today.

6/2- back to the gym this morning for a 20 min kettle bell work out, and another 20 min of upper body work. Tonight I am going to an outdoor yoga session for 90 minutes. Whoot whoot!
