Not an app Spookie. I don't have a smartphone. I was looking online and replying back to her. DD has some plan with her Iphone - I know it's not the latest, greatest phone but she's happy with it. I just cannot afford a data plan on top of everything else. However her's works she's very pleased with it. Our house phone is Verizon. Have to have a house phone to have internet. No cable out here. But cells are AT&T. For a long time it was the only carrier that worked this far out. Haven't tried any other carrier since prob. 2006.
But again I do think most of the local TV stations now have their own weather apps. I would think they would be more up to date with changing conditions than the Weather Channel. Something notifies DD by phone when severe weather is near. Know she watches online weather.

Almost midnight here, who is up? I went to full moon yoga then on the phone with phone calls for two hours after. Busy night. Lots going on for people.
I brought you all into my circle tonight, did you feel the love?
Loveroflife- I love plums! And I am glad you liked the video, I saw it on TV and thought it was sweet. My sister has a golden retriever and we just all love her to pieces. They are special dogs, always looking out for everybody. Are you thinking a rescue dog or a breed? That puppy on Spookie's weather post is cute. I bet DD will like a dog friend, it will be a big change when her older sister is gone to college.
Sassy- good news. I like that you went and bought a microwave after. Back to business!
I need to go sleep. The full moon rising up over the mountains as I drove away from yoga was spectacular. What an evening!

Yup loveroflife, you nailed it. It's been off the hook until about 10 minutes ago. I'm holding up okay--I slept 11 hours last night. And you're not weird about having the people in the house because I'm the exact same way. Especially after I learned that one of our hardcore gang members was working as an installation contractor for Time Warner. You just never know who you you'll get showing up at your house. And you're welcome on the visual image.
Lovemygoats--sorry about your senior goat. My dad had a small head of cattle at a property outside of town when I was a teenager; a small group of 9 Charlais, Hereford, Brangus and one little Angus that I considered a pet. I think Baby was intimidated by the size of the other steers because he would break out of the fencing, run down the street and hang out with the neighbor's goats. Broke my heart when he was finally sent to slaughter. I didn't eat beef for 3 years.
Jazzy--literally spit green tea everywhere when I read "Kartrashians". There are so many more important issues that the world is dealing with than their drama.
Rosevalley--I probably need to get reading glasses or something but for now can'tmakecan'tmakemecan'tmakeme. I was borderline before chemo and I've noticed since Wednesday that I'm having a harder time reading small print.
Chevy--shhh....don't tell anyone but I'm one of the illegal waterers, too. We're only allowed to water 2 times per week and for a maximum 5 minutes with a sprinkler system. At least once a week, I hit the manual start button on my sprinklers, usually late at night so no one sees it. I figure I'm entitled to it since my planters are all low-water requiring plants, I don't have anything to water in my backyard, I recycle all my grey water on my planters and I've cut my showering to under 4 minutes per day with a low-flow shower head.
Patty--thanks! Water is the key. I started feeling a little funky earlier then realized that it had been 2 hours since I drank anything.
Smarty--congrats on the GGB! Fingers crossed for a girl.
Sassy--glad you got a plan and congrats on the new microwave.

to whoever wrote about the aloe vera (I'm too tired right to search back thru the posts): THANK YOU!!! I didn't use it in any of the suggested ways but my head starting itching and burning while I was at work and I immediately thought of the aloe vera I had at home. When I got home, I made a50/50 solution with water, very gently massaged it into my scalp and covered it with a shower cap. Instantaneous relief! I'm debating weather to cover my pillow with a towel and sleep like this or rinse it off before bed. Heaven forbid if the water police find out I took a second shower today.

Hah! From whatever it was that Sass was talking about to "wearing" Aloe Vera.... !!! I cut a leaf off of my plant, and split it open, and rubbed the gel onto Dear Husbands knee... See, he FELL, and skinned his whole knee, and you would think is speedily on his way to occupying a wheel-chair! I MEAN, what a cry-baby! I tried to bandage it a couple times, and he is like a 12 year old kid! My DOG you would think I never knew how to use a band-aid before! This is about day 7 after his "spill."......
He thinks that picking off the scab will make it heal faster... I am ready to call the para-medics, and let THEM deal with this man! We also use thin cut Duck Tape over gauze, for his poor little knee. No wait.... Duck tape over his mouth!
Yes, Aloe Vera for everything... drinking heals us from the inside out... But I'm not cutting any more off my plant... I'll spray some of that gallon of aloe on his knee!
Marla! I'm getting ready to sneak out and water my plants!
It's so funny, because I DON'T waste water...! But the one time I forgot, and left that hose on, I get busted! Yes... so much snow, but our climate is mostly dry.... Now HOT and dry... was 100 yesterday on our back patio! See, if we DON'T use water, they raise our rates.... And we are billed on how much we use anyway, but going over what we are SUPPOSED to use can get us a fine... This guy next door has his automatic sprinklers come on every DAY! Early morning, but his little bit of lawn looks good... He has tried so many ways to GROW lawn, because of his HUGE Great Dane! There is big river-rocks all along his fence, and just a little area of lawn now.... He has trained that dog to just go on the sidewalk, and then around the fence... but those rocks are so BIG that I think it hurts his legs to walk over them.Oh, and I can't talk to my Daughter about Bruce... Ha! She will defend him/her till she runs out of breath. Now I just listen to her, and say "yes dear..." I think it's my age... I think it's like Religion, Politics and now Bruce. Don't get involved, and don't argue. It's just so bizarre! At 65 this MAN decides he has had enough of man-life, and gives it up to look like an ugly woman? At 65, I mean what's the point? So he is a woman on top and a man on the bottom... Now most men would think he has the best of both worlds, right? Okay, I'm done... First the water-police, and now I gotta watch out for the "shut-your-mouth" Police. I hope HE has to shave his legs and get cramps!
It's beginning to get light! I must stealthily go out and turn on that damn hose!
Actually we get 3 days to water, if we want... but NOT after 10 or before 6p/m! EVER! So I'm safe....

Good morning friends- wishing everyone a good day and hope the SEs are minimal for those going through treatment right now.
I heard Bruce/Caitlyn saying that there is a realization he is having about how much pressure there is on women to look good. A man living as a woman creating new awareness of what the other gender goes through. Now we just need him to go get a car repair as a woman and see how much extra he pays as a result.

Or anything in the traditional "mans world" saw a print article recently about how the words in a job want ad could be turning women away from applying.

Bah! I am starting early today to set myself up for a sleepless night. I have an appt tomorrow and hopefully I will get a date as to when I start chemo. I am more worried about the doc and his staff than the fact I have cancer. Sounds crazy eh? I have only met him once thus far and he seemed rushed. There also seems to be a communication problem between himself and his staff. I "think:" I just caught them all on a bad day my first visit. I do not have much choice in my docs at the present since I was just approved for medicaid and I live in the Florida Keys.
I can say the last 4 minutes of my initial visit with him I could tell he really cared about his patients so that give me hope. Sorry for the whine. : )
I think I will try some melatonin at bedtime and clean the house today. I am hoping I laugh at myself tomorrow after my appt for being so daaag anxious.
0 -
Frey- hang in there. All the cancer docs I have ever seen along the way are very busy. I live in a city with less specialists than are needed here so mine are always in and out fast.
If you feel rushed as they are explaining things to you, please ASK that you are given the time to talk through treatment so you know what to expect. I had issues with this after my breast surgery and with the rads that was being recommended to me. I told my medical team I needed to UNDERSTAND why the particular type of rads was being recommended (which also required me to go out of state for it).
It is okay to ask a lot of questions, this is your body and you are the one who has to go through this. Bring someone with you to help right down the answers too. We sort of have a shock around the whole thing and cannot hear a lot of what is being told to us in the beginning.
0 -
Hey Freygea! Nah, don't worry.... and don't be anxious.... We've been there and done that.... Don't you just hate, when you think your "team" doesn't have time for you?
Write down your questions, and then as he answers, (assuming he does) then write down the answers.... Tell him you are just afraid, and you want him to help you get over your fears! Tell him also that he is a big dink if he doesn't help you.... THEN see what he says......
Have you had surgery yet? I know some women have chemo before their surgery.... Melatonin? Or a bottle of wine before bed? Whatever it takes.

Jazzy.... He was born a man.... that is no mistake.... God doesn't make mistakes.... He can maybe fool himself, but he still has the genes of a man.... Sure! Let HIM march right into a car-repair shop with his bustier on.... and those hairy legs.... He just needs a cigarette holder, with a lighted cigarette, and painted long nails, and I DARE him to wear high-heels... and ask for a mechanic to service his 58' Volkswagon.
Those guys can spot a fake within a mile!

Thank you both for the advice. I tend to be very assertive, and I think I am just worried I will start off giving a bad impression, but you are both correct. I best start now in a calm way asking questions so I do not suddenly start sounding well ..you know : )
No surgery as of yet . The doc indicated on my first visit he wants to start with chemo. I will find out for sure tomorrow.
Oh and wine sounds so much better than whine. ; )

Frey- although not all doctors are open to questions (my BS was the worst during my time of treatment, but we do a lot better now in the follow up world), my experience with oncologists is that they are pretty good about listening to you as you are asking questions. Chevy is right that is good to say "I am afraid, overwhelmed, need to understand what to expect, trying to prepare" so he can address your concerns.
Some of the things I really needed to know up front was what to expect during treatment. My doctors told me up front they expected me to just need surgery and rads as my bc was early and small. If there was node involvement, I might need chemo; but I did not. They will present a plan to you based on the pathology of your tumor, but as they go along and get more data around your case, the plan may change. So be ready for that too.
It sounds like you know for sure you will have chemo and surgery. The chemo and surgery threads are great places to ask women what kinds of questions to ask. They can probably share with you "this is what I wished I had known before I started" and also "knowing this helped me the most." You can actually create your own threads too and put questions out and ask people to respond. It is a great way to get info from the community here. The women who go through treatment here and those have gone through it previously will be a great source of info for you.
One thing I recommend is to make your bedroom super comfortable. I made sure had what I needed nearby vs. having to get up for things. I had my cell phone, a laptop, and always had meds and drinks nearby on my nightstand. You will be spending a lot of time there during your treatment process so make sure you have it set up to be good for you.
This is a scary time being newly diagnosed and not knowing what to expect yet. But know all of us here have gone through it (some ladies are in treatment on this thread too) and we try to help one another, including the newbees. You will get through this.

I had chemo first, then surgery, then rads. It's common to do that, even though your brain is screaming GET THIS OUT NOW!!!!
It's ok.

Morning(afternoon)......
Chevy so funny...They cut his man parts off and made lady parts. Thought it was tacky to show him in bathing suit. Kartrashians fits perfectly. Wonder what will happen when he goes to jail for the vehicular homicide?
Jazzy, oh I was sleeping, but it sounds wonderful. Yes, back to business right away. Microwave consumer report best buy. They seem to be made of cheaper construction every time I buy one.
Wonder what happened to Teka and Nettie? They popped in and out so quick?
Smarrty, GREAT new grandbaby. What is the due date again?
Spookie, Ah hah. knew there was a reason other than wanting to watch TV. Brighthouse will raise those rates after one year. Carter just bought out Time Warner and Brighthouse. The deal should close by the end of July. Things up in the air after that.
Blondie, July 8th and July 22nd. I have them on the calendar. We have enough time to see what we can work out. I would be coming over from Cocoa area. It's 2hours over to Tampa. But I would connect a visit to my DS's. What Spookie and I would do is meet you near the airport for lunch, breakfast or dinner. Actually just a place to meet. Time is irrelevant. It would be a short visit. Maybe an hour or so.. Spookie and I talked. For us to go down to Coral Cable is allot of money. It would work out to several hundred dollars each. My van is a gas guzzler( I calculate 4 tankfuls) and it would necessitate a hotel room minimum one night. Seeing you on arrival or leaving is the best for us. We will get it worked out--WE CAN DO THIS

Thanks all on the bx results.

BBL Have a nice afternoon all

FreaFrea.... Okay, if you don't know what these gals are talking about, neither do I.... I know a moon, and a circle, but as far as yoga.... no. If I got DOWN there, I could NOT get up without help.... Ha! Jazzy gave you such good advice! Think of yourself first.... You might just blaze through this whole ordeal.... but you might have days that make you want to just go for a drive in your car, and get the biggest hamburger you can find...... And then scream in your pillow.
And she is right.... they may pretend they know what is wrong with you, but not until after the surgery, and then the final path report, will they know your next course of treatment. I just had a lumpectomy.... because at my age they didn't know what else to DO with me.... Ha! They implanted the MammoSite device in the place they took out the tumor.... It was a GREAT way to get the radiation, but not ALL women can have it that way... it depends on how large, and WHERE it is.... But you might ask anyway.... they'll think you are nuts.... but ask just in case.
So as you can tell, we are here day and night....
Peppermint! This time I put aloe in a spray bottle, and sprayed his knee..... I ain't gonna chop up my little new plant for his knee..... Then he will now use a large band-aid.... You would think he had a compound fracture of his knee! Did EYE holler that much when I broke my FEMUR? No!
And you guys, Sheri called! And our oldest GRANDSON is now behaving, and sounds great, and is TALKING to them, and things have straightened out! I prayed every night for something good to happen with them.... I am so happy! I told you he is not taking Adderal anymore... but stopped all at once..... And that really threw him out of whack.... Anyway, things are coming together.... I just hope it stays this way..... Sounded so good to hear my Daughter laugh on the phone! Prayers DO get answered.... you just have to be patient.......

Freygea, best wishes on your appt tomorrow. I agree that it is good to bring another person with you to the visit. It helps to have an extra set of ears. Just make sure the person is awake

Ms. Chevy, you are right God does not make mistakes.
Patty, so happy to hear that you are having a blessed time with your boys and you are getting some energy. Once yourthyroid is back to normal you can start the marathon...I am talking about the one where you have to keep your boys busy so they don't drive each other nuts like my girls do when they are bored. I think I have found the cure for boredom for my girls-house chores. As soon as I mention it, they are not bored anymore especially my younger one.
Marlana, thought about you when I saw this:

Hope everyone has a blessed day today

Chevy. - u so right. Guys are so wimpy when they are sick or hurt. Like he couldn't spray his own knee , right ? Oh well better take care of it for him you certainly don't want it not to heal. You might have to give him a little bell to call you as needed. Lol.
Loveriflife - ok. Has no one gave you a nick name yet ? Chevy ? Whew that's long to type. Love your house chore boredom solution. How old are your girls ? My boys are 10 and 13. My 13 year old is def on hormone overload. Don't have much exp with boys but seems like a girl on her period to me. Lol.

I thought my post would be right below Jazzy's but when I looked up there are 4 above of mine. How did that happen?

ok. So true.
0 -
No, her name is "Loverly"..... I've been calling her that for years.....
And "Loveriflife" isn't hardly even close.... Hah! It sounds like you have a lithp..I mean a lisp! Or a mouthful of marbles.... See FreyFrey? We just gotta have fun here.... even if it doesn't make sense.....Some of these gals really have problems with one thing or another.... Going through all kinds of treatment.... and are feeling just awful...... but all I can do is maybe make them maybe smile.... We'll take care of you too!

Busy thread today!
Chevy- it sounds like you had internal rads too. I did not have mammosite but another form of it (brachytherapy) and it was much faster than the external beam rads, and probably way less painful. They were concerned about external rads for me for several reasons and it was not that bad (outside of living with a lot of tubes in my boob for a week or so. It was sort of experimental at the time I had it (2012) but is becoming more mainstream now. I went to a guy in AZ who is one of the experts in the country. I know they are starting to offer it here in my city now. My BS and this guy were very much about trying to conserve the breast and do targeted rads for my very early BC. They teach this approach internationally and think my boobs are instruments of education. I will say if anyone here is told they are a candidate for it, definitely consider it!
Loverly- I have a friend who lost her internet at home so she is doing these long texts to me at night. No can do!
