Dragging and really feeling it after my weekend whirlwind trip to Portland. Not to mention the early AM conference call for the consulting work I am doing. Plus, a full day at the nonprofit. Dragged my sorry hide out for a 2 mile walk anyway this evening. I will also do my weights.

I still have to post pix from yesterday which I will do in the next couple of days. I think next weekend I am unlikely to stray further than Seattle (for my hair trim).

Have a fresh trout to go under the broiler for tonight's dinner. Plus, fresh summer veggies. YUM!!!

Loving these late summer early mornings with dew and fog. Just heavenly. - Claire

Hi everyone I just finished chemo 2 weeks ago and will have surgery August 31. I just started doing some light exercises this week. Does 1 hour in the pool carrying a chunky 1 yr while chasing a 6 year old in the pool count as good excercise? :

Meljo, great way to climb without the altitude. God1st, sounds exhausting enough to me.

It was BodyJam and weights last night. No time for BodyCombat somehow. Zumba tonight.

God1st. . .yes that certainly counts as exercise. If you can do that after chemo then major kuddos. I hope you have lots of help with the little one for after surgery.

3.5 mile jog. It was super hot and was getting ready to rain - I was really huffing and puffing today. I took a cold shower and still kept sweating for about an hour. Blech.

    I'm still pre-op.

One hour weights/resistance with a trainer this morning. Because my usual guy is on vacation I did a tandem workout with another gal who is there at the same time and her trainer. Fun. But definitely not up to my previous standards.

This summer maintaining fitness has been a challenge. Two weeks out for vacation heavy walking but no weights, then 4 days off everything for first biopsy, 4 days off everything for second biopsy, plus a week of heavy walking but no weights or runs taking my Cub Scouts to camp. I'm feeling like this summer has been backslide on general fitness and I'm just going to get it back together in time to have surgery 9/9.

I love that you post all this. I'll definitely be joining you post surgery and during radiation so you can remind me to keep doing it even if not up to previous PBs.

Welcome God1st and Outrunning! Anything at all that you can do during treatment will help you bounce back faster once you are done.

Welcome God1st and Outrunning. Outrunning you backslide but your base is there so you do get back, and God1st chasing little ones is a full time job cause they probably go in all directions. Everyone around me has a cold and wouldn't you know it I now have a scratchy throat yuk.

Tonight did Body Pump and Body Jam. Ruth stay tuned for what I will post on Thursday, get ready to swoonHeart

Welcome to the newbies! Scottie - our female panda is showing signs of being pregnant, but of course they do that pseudopregnancy thing a lot too, so you never know. But we're keeping our fingers crossed that BaoBao will have a sib soon.

Accidentally poked myself in the eye yesterday morning and it still HURTS!!! The eye is all red, swollen, and weepy. Think I'll have to call an eye dr today to get it checked out. Stupid!!Snooze

3 miles interval track work last evening with the running clinic, squat challenge this morning.

Ran/Walked 3.86 this morning. Wasn't exactly the intensity of speed intervals training I intended, but my 6-year-old DD wanted to come with me. And when your little girl wants to come run with you, you let her.

Luckily there is a loop around the park next to the kid's school that is just under a 1/4 mile. I was able to get in three good 1/2 mile intervales of speed while she played on the playground and petted all the dogs in the park. Plus I did one 1/2 mile on the way there (had her stand and watch while I ran up and down a straightaway.) By my trainers schedule I was supposed to do five 1/2 miles but I couldn't get the girl to run at all on the way home.

    Thanks everyone for the welcome.

NatsFan - I'm in the DC area also.

Scottie-You don't happen to be part of a Flickr chat group about Pandas are you? My Mom was a Panda enthusiast and an Asia Trail volunteer at the National Zoo until she died in 2007. In fact my DD, her friend and I were just at the zoo this weekend to see the pandas. Mom's birthday was Sunday and we have a memorial bench for her in the panda area. Plus we spread a tiny bit of her ashes in the panda pen. I try to visit on or near her birthday. Only problem with all this is, that my daughter gets all mad and out of control when we go. I want her to know the grandma she never met, but I need to remember not to make a such a big deal of it when we're there. It was awkward with her friend with us. And DD was so awful we almost had to leave.

Managed to walk 3.75 miles and up/down 27 floors yesterday while trying to tie up all the details at dd's college for her soccer camp this week and sophomore year starting. Today I had my first PT appointment. New PT was awesome. I'm dealing with a lower back degenerated disk on top of BMx/ EX recovery. He says he can get me walking 10 miles by Oct 4 when Dh and I are doing local cancer walk. More importantly, he can get me back to previous weight lifting. YEAH!

Outrunning. . .I hear you on the run/walks. Both my 19yo dd and 13yo ds are ASD so we have always just worked our exercise around them. Also keep memberships to all local attractions (zoo, aquarium, gardens etc. . .) because we never know how long ds will last.

I can't touch dd now in exercise. She's a machine on and off the soccer field. We're trying to get ds to go to gym with us so he can keep up when we walk/hike. As for the pandas. . .the pic I use is one I took of the Atlanta Mei-hem twins. I have been photographing our Atlanta pandas since we got them. I do photography on the side, but I'm not on Flicker.

NatsFan - What did doc say about your eye? I hope not a torn cornea. I did that too myself about a dozen years ago. Poked myself in the eye with the tag on a pair of sunglasses I was trying on. It took a couple years to fully heal. Every morning when I woke up a little bit would tear up again because it was stuck to my eyelid. And that was even with ointment in it. Ouch.

Ruth that looks like a great place to walk. I love getting out in nature. It makes a basic walk or run so much more rich.

    Welcome God1st and Outrunning!

Beautiful spot for a walk Ruth. Hope the yucky feeling passes quickly Cheryl. Sorry for your loss Lilacblue.

Went to bootcamp again last night as well as completed week 2, day 1 of the squats challenge. No exercise today as I spent all day waiting on a repairman who didn't make it!

Saw on the news today that we are officially expecting a panda cub in the next few weeks!!!

Hi all, I swam 6 and 7 laps for about 20 minutes each, respectively on Monday and Tuesday; Tonight DH and I heard Frankie Vallie at a local venue, Wolf Trap, and there was much walking involved due to the parking situation. That's got to count!

He was an inspiration to keep active -- 82 and going strong!

Mary, I hope your eye is ok.

I think I may have broken my toe this morning. I missed a step as I walked out of school while waving to someoneand landed on the pavement on my knee and hip and banged my toe as I misjudged the step.my knee is all scraped and my hip is cranky.

Grrr...Triathalon is in 2 days. I am icing it now and hoping it is just bruised.

Outrunning - you called it with a corneal injury. Fortunately it's an abrasion not a tear, so I should heal up within a week or so. I can't imagine what you went through for all that time! And I saw your post on the running thread about running on the Rock Creek Trail - that's one of my favorite places to run too, on the northern part on Montgomery County. We are blessed to have such wonderful resources.

So I'm back from the ophthalmologist with drops and ointments, and sporting an eye patch. Feeling quite like the pirate. Arrrrrgggghhh!

Ginger, oh no!!!! I sure hope the toe is just bruised. Is there some way you can stabilize it with kenesio tape or something?

Reader - gee, traffic and parking issues at Wolf Trap? What a surprise - not. I love being at Wolf Trap, but hate the process of getting there and leaving.

No exercise today - just trying to rest up and give my body a chance to work on healing the eye.

Reader, Hubby and I love Frankie Vali's voice!! We have seen Jersey Boys, three times!!

Walked for 40 minutes, up and down hills!

Ginger and Mary hugs and prayers to you both for a quick recovery. I tripped and fell going into work two weeks before EX. . .totally took all the skin off my knee. Had to go on antibiotics and get a tetanus shot.

So I finally conquered the hike around my lake today. Some serious hills and it was tough on my post surgery lungs but felt good. Total of 3.5 miles and 34 stairs today.

Ginger -UGH!! I have been so excited to follow your triathlon...maybe you can tape it to the toe next to it? I hope it is ok!

I jogged 4.25 tonight. I think ants were falling out of the trees or something. I was running on pavement and kept getting covered in ants. So gross.
