ugh for all the injuries. Hope everyone heals quickly.
Yay Scottie about the astound the lake.
DC is officially on baby panda watch. My mom's friend on a Panda chat group who still volunteers at the zoo said the house is closed and they're on watch for the birth!
No workout for me today. Spent most of the day at the hospital. Starting with 7:30 arrival forMRI. Then visited my assistant who had a prophylactic hysterectomy yesterday because she tested positive for BRCA1. Then left hospital to have brunch with a dear friend. Back to hospital for genetic counseling. And then pre surgical check up and blood draw. Then took my kids to my son's OT and vision therapy appointments. Not the kind of day off of work I prefer, but the brunch made it all worth it. The friend was one of my besties. I used to work with her but now I don't get to see her much. She's running the 10k with me in November.

Hello everyone. I have been busy, busy, as I am back at work. Moving like crazy! I have walked over 20 miles this week. Next week will be my return to the gym. We have a wellness program that gives us a membership. I am looking forward to my return to my gym workouts. I have been making my travel arrangements for my 6 month check up and 1st mammogram since my DX. It is making me very anxious. The exercise will be a good distraction..

2.5 mil run. The killer hill by my house. Twice! Training for a 10k which is after surgery and radiation. Hoping being in great shape before will mean I don't have to walk the whole thing. But doing it no matter what.

Go get 'em, Outrunning!
Mary, hope your eye heals quickly. GRRRRR!
Yoga this morning.
Here is a story: a lady was walking into the YMCA when I got out of my car today, coming in behind her I noticed what nice erect shoulders, well-defined waist and cute butt she had....I then realized that I was looking at the backside of my 86 year old friend, Harriet! I couldn't help but to tell her what an outstanding figure she has! GIRL CRUSH!
I think I made her day; and the fact that, with work, you can look fabulous at any age is pretty exciting for us all to contemplate!Happy Friday, everyone!

Ruth I firmly believe in telling people if something takes you, if I see a woman of any age who has a dress on that I think is pretty or has fantastic shoes I always stop and tell them, most people are shocked that someone noticed but they always walk away with a smile. Woohoooo Outrunning, you go girl!! Congratulations on your accomplishment Scottiemom. Annie after a diagnosis those darned appointments get us all anxious, we just can't help it. Ginger darn it, I can't tell you how many times I've injured my toes, there is noting they can do so I agree tape them and ice them and I hope you'll be okay for your tri.
Well last night I went to a cycle class - Ruth now wait for it - drumroll - with the wonderful Eduardo OMG it has been so long since I've seen him, he is still as gorgeous as ever and for some reason he's picked up a lot of classes to help out in the next two weeks so I'm going to see him at least 3 times, be still my beating heart

Lucky you! Say hi to Eduardo from me

Badger: Happy Belated Birthday! So glad you got to see Bryan Sutton! I know you were thrilled.
Patoo: Your new place sounds amazing! Glad you're getting settled in.
Nats: Sorry about your eye. Hope it heals quickly.
Ginger: Oh no! Please let us know how your toe is.
Cheryl: Just today I wished I had told someone that I thought their hair looked fabulous. I told myself that next time I would say something.
Ruth: I think all of us will be Harriet!
Scottie: Congratulations on making it around the lake!
Outrunning: Way to go with your killer hill!
Annie: Let us know when your mammo is scheduled and we'll "be" there with you.
Hi All! Just returned from my fast walk/run. Hot and sweaty as usual!

Well, my dr wanted an X-ray and it showed a break. They taped my toes but really only want me to do the swim and are concerned that doing the bike and/or run could cause more serious damage in the long run. So after a long day of denial and in the interest of not impacting my long range exercise plans, I think I am giving in. My dr actually found someone to do the bike and run portions as a relay team for me. Not quite what I had planned but it is what it is...

Ginger I love that your doc found you a team. Are they a friend of yours as well as doctor? Sorry you won't get to do the whole tri. Super frustrating.
Hope you rock the swim

Hi all - I am new to this thread, but jumping in because it might help keep me motivated/accountable. I used to love to exercise, but this last year has been so challenging.
Today I went for a 1.5 mile walk at an 18 minute/mile pace. This is what I typically do on weekdays, and then I do a longer walk (up to 3 miles) at least one day of the weekend. My goal over the next couple months is to get down to a 15-16 minute mile. Before BC, I could jog/walk a 5K at a 12-13 minute/mile pace. I want to believe I can eventually get back to that.
I also need to get started again with the following things I used to love: strength training and yoga/pilates. I am in a tamoxifen slump with my energy levels, and I need to just start small and try to snap myself out of it. I am committed to doing SOMETHING this weekend - will check in again and let you all know how I do!

Ginger and Mary, healing vibes to you both!
Ruth, I want grow up to be like Harriet, too. Specifically, I want to retire in Hawaii and go to crossfit class:

Patoo, where you are does not sound bad at all either! Retirement communities haven't hit Europe as they have in the U.S.
Welcome, Kiki! I did beginner's pilates Thursday. It felt great, but my core hurt a bit after. Just start slowly.
Yesterday was a rest day, went shopping for sports gear at a sale. Got hiking pants for the summmer and biking pants for the winter.

Skipped Zumba and ran/walked with DD instead. She ran the whole way but I was never far from her.

22 minutes of weights and resistance.
Took the kids to the pool and intended to do laps but that didn't happen. Oh well. Planning on a long run in the morning.

Heidi, I'm with you on retiring to Hawaii! I love that they are doing senior cross fit.
Ginger sorry about the race but it sure seems best to stay off of it. Enjoy the swimming part.
Hi Kiki! Welcome.
Outrunning yes sometimes kids interfere with those plans but any day at the pool with your kids is still a good day.
I mowed my lawn 60 minutes and then went for an 85 minute bike ride. I rode up to my favorite lake and took the overlook trail which was beautiful and I had never been on. I will sleep well tonight.

Hi Kiki. . .I'm hoping to find a beginning yoga class but I need one that's worked with cancer and surgery patients. In the meantime, I'm currently in twice weekly PT and limited to treadmill and hiking only.

Ginger, what a nice doc! And crummy as it is, you don't want to really mess it up more and take three times as long to recover.....sigh.....
Welcome Kiki! Yes, checking in here is a great accountability help! Start where you are, and you will work yourself back into your exercises. We will be expecting a full report on your weekend activities!

I will enjoy taking turns visiting all you Florida and Hawaii friends (once you get there) during our long, cold North Dakota winters!

We were out of town last night but I got on the treadmill for awhile when we got home (dark clouds, very windy & looked like it could storm at any minute, so staying inside seemed like a better plan).

Hi, Kiki!! Welcome to this great thread!! The Ladies here are helpful, supportive , encouraging and fun!!!
Walked today up and down hills pushing my grandson in a stroller!!

Welcome Kiki! Sounds like you have a good plan.
Ginger: Sorry about your toe. I feel your complete frustration.
Hi Everyone! I walked/ran late this evening. It keeps getting darker earlier.

The Triathalon went well! Two women I had never met before stepped up to be on a relay team with me and we took 3rd place in the All Women Relay Team division. I got my best time ever in the swim portion so I am happy about that too. My foot is throbbing tonight which helps me to know I made the right decision not to bike or run. Swimming was enough.
Looking forward to this toe healing and being able to get back to exercising.

the only exercise that I enjoy is walking. I strive for 15K steps/day. Most days I make it....when I can't I hope to get to at least 12K. My onc told me at my last vist that walking was the best thing I could do for myself!!! It is a great stress reliever and good for me!! Win-Win!!!

Awesome, Ginger!!!!!!

hi all and welcome new posters God1st, Outrunning, and Kiki13.
I walk for exercise. Started with a slow shuffle to the mailbox. Got stronger with time and since 2009 have logged over 5,400 miles! Even though I now have the exercise habit, there are still days I don't want to but tell myself 'just ten minutes'. Once I get up & out I'm glad I did. Reporting 15.75 miles walked since last post.
WTG Ginger, congrats on results AND listening to your doc & your body.
Mary, sorry to hear about your eye, hope the abrasion heals fast.
Brewers @ Nats today, one game each so far in the series...

Ginger - huge high five! Congrats on the PB for the swim. Glad you were able to turn the toe set back into an amazing win.
As for me I just went out and crushed my PB run idistance by a mile, literally. Last week I ran 5 a tad over a PB set two year ago. But this morning I did 6. Hooyaa
I'm so happy I'm going over to the running board to celebrate there too

And we have not one but TWO new baby pandas in DC.

Outrunning. . .I heard you have twins! What fun. Will pray that all goes well in the early days. I'm told that our Atlanta twins will soon decide that they want to be alone, since pandas are solitary animals. They will separate our Meihem twins when they stop wanting to spend time together.
Ginger. . .congrats on the triathlon.
Karen. . .15K steps per day is amazing. It's tough enough to get 10K. I've done the 10K challenge several times but with full time work it's too much. Exercise does help so much. I can't wait until PS gives me the go ahead to start lifting again. Probably a few more weeks.

It was cool enough to do some of the weeding I've been avoiding in the hot weather. Then I went for a short walk. Karen I'm mostly a walker too. Maybe one day I'll get sick of it but not so far.
Yeah Ginger on your good swim and 3rd place!
Scottie I think yoga programs for cancer patients are quite common. Check you local hospitals and cancer centers. I took one for free after my surgeries and rads. It was great.

Scottie....I break up my walking into 3 times/day...in the morning before work, then at lunch and in the evening with my DH.
Badger...too bad we are close to each other to be walking partners!

I did an hour of spot toning with Denise Austin....since I did not feel like exercising AT ALL, I am giving myself extra points!

Aww Ginger sorry about the toe but great that you ended up doing so well on the swim and your teams placing. Congratulations Outrunning, you are 'the little engine that could'. Welcome Kiki. Wonderland I haven't noticed the days drawing in yet but now you've said it I'm going to start watching. Karen 15K steps a day is fabulous. Ruth/Badger this one is for you - by any chance can you remember the name of the pizza restaurant we went to when we were in Chicago? I've been racking my brain but it comes up empty (no snickering).
Friday night I went to Zumba, Saturday did Grit Cardio at one gym then off to another and did Cycle (Eduardo says 'hey' Ruth) I did have grand plans today but I ended up doing the same as TwoHobbies, I worked in the garden weeding and picking flowers and cleaning up the dreaded Bougainvilla, that blasted thing has long deadly thorns, drops flowers and is generally messy as all get up. Then I treated myself to a massage, an instructor I know has her own massage studio and even though I booked an hour massage she worked in me for almost 2 hours, have been having trouble with my right shoulder and she really worked out all the kinks and now I'm feeling very mellow.
