ruthbru I love you should pics!

2.62 mi walk run. Intervals of speed and walk. With school back in session I didn't have time to do more. And honestly I went too fast on the first speed intraval to do more. I was in the low 9 min-mile for a bit. And I never go anything close to that fast.

I keep waiting up at 4:30-4:45. Today I never went back to sleep. I should have gotten out to run earlier but was sending tons of emails about my various volunteer jobs.

Claire-in-Seattle I envy your long rides. I haven't done that in year. When I live in NY state and Connecticut on the sound I rode. In DC traffic made me too nervous and I pretty much gave it up. (Plus hills everywhere. I can't do hills)

The National Zoo just reported that the smaller panda cub died today. They did everything they could, but it wasn't to be. Poor little guy.

Mary lucky you got that eye sorted out sounds very dangerous, I just read about the baby I guess Moms instinct was spot on in her rejection, poor baby. Outrunning I woke at 4.05 this morning and haven't been back to bed and right now my eyes are burning and I am so tired, I did get up at 5 and have breakfast thinking that would make me go back to sleep but no such luck. Wonderland yup the days are shortening, the room where we do out Body Jam is floor to ceiling glass windows and if you are in a certain spot the sun setting blinds you but last night no sun as it had already gone down. Ruth I think you'll like Barre we have it at the Y but classes are early morning, I did it a couple of times and enjoyed it.

Last night did 30 minutes of RPM and Body Jam.

Mary - yikes! Glad you got in for surgery, heal fast and well my sister.

Cheryl, I think that great deep-dish pizza place in Chicago was Lou Malnati's.

Cooler weather is here, yay it's my time of year! Walked after supper Mon, had date night Tues (we saw the new Mission Impossible movie, thumbs up), and drinks & dinner with friends after work tonight. Just back from a stroll around the block. I heard The Voices saying walk off those beers, badger. ;-)

Badger this is too funny, some of my friends are already in Chicago and they posted on FB from Lou Malnatis and I clicked on the interior picture and went 'that is the place' not 5 minutes ago.

    Tonight did Grit Strength.

I have a question for those of you with Fitbit HRs. I bought myself one on Monday, I still have my pedometer and they are not in synch, so I want to ask do you think your Fitbit is calibrated correctly, mine has about 1500 more steps on it than my pedometer I am wondering if it is registering my hand movements. I think it is totally accurate on the HR as Grit is a 30 minute class and you just go the whole time with just a few short rest times and it has me at 16 minutes in the Cardio zone and 13 minutes in the peak zone.

I just have a Charge, but it seems pretty accurate for the steps part. Did you set up everything on line; like your weight, whether or not you wear it on your dominate hand etc......maybe make sure your set up as all accurately filled in.

I am sorry about the poor baby panda.

Mary, I heard the news yesterday. Praying for the other little one. It was so hard when we lost our baby beluga a few months ago. So sad. Also hoping your eye recovery goes quickly. Sounds like you have excellent docs.

Katcar I was lifting some weights from 2 months post BMx/TEs. Had to start at ground zero but got up 10 lbs in overhead reps before EX. I'm so frustrated with my nerve pain limitations at the moment. I know if I can just get back to a routine it will get better. I'm only on day 4 back at work after 4 weeks out from EX. PT again today and then treadmill at gym.

Gotten get my fitbit stats going again.

We have a terrible time with our Beluga's here don't we Scottie? So sad.

I ran 2 miles, but tried to go a bit quicker than normal and really pushed up the hills. Then I came home and did about 30 min of stretching since I need to find some muscles, which do not seem to be where I remember leaving them about 5 years ago before all this treatment.

Outrunning, there is a Galloway group about an hour away from me. I was thinking of joining in just to check out the run/walk thing. It sure makes a lot of sense. And I really, really want to complete a half, and honestly a full marathon. All that stopping and starting at first glance sounds maddening, but if the ends justify the means...

Scottie - one of your Atlanta vets rushed up to DC when the cubs were born to help out, so I know they had excellent advice. It just wasn't meant to be.

I had a follow up appt with the eye dr yesterday. He said the healing is going well, but it's going to take time. It's still uncomfortable, but thankfully not painful anymore.

Three mile run this morning - it's the first morning it's been so dark that I've had to use my running light. I guess the days really are getting shorter.

What a horrible tragedy with those the reporter and cameraman being murdered. So sad and so senseless. They were so young and had their entire lives ahead of them. My heart aches for those left behind.

I need to start exercising & get rid of 15/20 lbs that I have gained since dx last October. Just had my ovaries removed & started Arimidex. Any suggestions as to starting back to working out and where I should begin? I had a double mastectomy with exchange surgery upcoming in late Sept. I hope it will help with my anxiety & getting rid of this extra weight. Ideas

Welcome MamaM, I would recommend walking, it's easy, doesn't cost anything and it is what is recommended to start, do you belong to a gym? Glad you are healing Mary and you were able to run this morning. Thanks Ruth I was sure I set it up correctly but I'll go in and check and it didn't record my when I was on the bike this morning but funnily enough it said I went up 3 flights of stairs - i was out of the saddle on the bike and that's what I think it recorded, I do have it on my non dominant hand but I work with my hands so they're moving all dayLoopy

Snuck out of work this morning and went to RPM, wanted to get todays workout in as tonight is dedicated to packing for my weekend in Chicago, we have a very early start in the morning.

MamaM: Welcome! I ditto what Cheryl said. Start slow. Walking will also help with any soreness you might experience with Arimidex.

Glad your eye is no longer painful, Nats. Sorry about the little Panda.

Good Evening Everyone! It was a tad bit cooler during my walk/run this evening. Just a tad.

Welcome MamaM! Start slow, mix your exercises up, try to do something just about every day. I like to take classes or walk with friends (I like the social part Loopy) , but also have a bunch of different DVDs for days that doesn't work. Some of us like your Fitbits as a way to keep motivated.

Cardio Sculpt & Zumba for me today.

Have fun in the Windy City, Cheryl!

Mary- Your eye sounds painful. Luckily your Dr. Was quick to connect you w/ the surgeon. Rest and take care of yourself.

The pandas are so cute, but it is sad that one didn't make it.

Ruth- Your WWW group look like a fun group. I bet you all have a blast on your walks.

    Hbcheryl- Have fun in Chicago!

It has been a week! My Fitbit says that I have walked 28 miles this week. I injured my pinkie toe at work yesterday, so I am skipping the workouts for a couple days.

My daughter had her first dance performance with the drill team last night. She did great

Today I found out that I may have a cyst or fibroid. I have a scheduled sonogram in a couple of weeks. My Dr is suggesting total hysterectomy . Have any of you had this done or taken Tamoxifen afterwards?

Went to 1-hour gentle yoga class after work yesterday - first time in months. Felt great! Going to make it a regular Thursday thing.

It's cool and beautiful today, so planning a 1 - 2 mile walk later.

Ruth, great pic of your walking group! Walking buddies are the best.

    Have a great weekend everyone.

Annie, I have read that fibroids are REALLY common. In autopsies, most everyone of any age has them. My 16 year old daughter had a scan recently for a severe reaction and they saw 3 fibroids and told me not to worry, super common. If they are causing you trouble, well that is a different story. Congrats on the daughter too, so fun!

I ran 3.3 miles last night. I love the cooling weather!!

Yesterday 1 hour strength work with a trainer.

My trainer is still on vacation so I did a tandem work out with another trainer and client who are there at the same time as me. My workout partner has a survivor friend who is started a yoga for BC survivors and other classes. I'm going to try to connect with her this weekend.

Nothing so far today and not likely to have the chance now. Mornings are still rough in my house this week. My 9-year-old is rather a wreck about school. I so WISH I'd gone for a run. At least when the morning was a fail with him I'd have something in the win column too.

Did a lot of walking at the fair in Dutchess County, New York. Was there for three hours today, no further exercise needed today. May wait until Sun. or Mon. to work out.

All the rain here made my garden into a jungle. I am worn out from weeding, pruning, cleaning, planting, etc. It is hard exercise!

Scottie - Sorry about your nerve pain. It is referred to your back? I did a lot of overhead pruning. It was tough, but I did okay. The main thing that bothers me is the sensation of my skin pulling.

Mary - Glad to hear that your eye is better.

    Ruthbru - Fabulous photo!

Catching up after a busy week. Went to bootcamp Tuesday night and ran a couple miles on the treadmill after work Wednesday night. Missed bootcamp last night since we had family in from out of town and today was only a short walk.

Wednesday was a really sad day with the senseless tragedy and the loss of the little Panda cub.

Looking forward to the cooler weather as Fall is my favorite season.

KiKi13 welcome and Cheryl, have fun today. HeidiHill, come join me in Stockholm. Odie, I'm a summer fan and not much of it here this year as it's been cloudy and rainy.

Been a busy week of cover of many classes, with that coming to a halt as instructors are back from holiday Tuesday. Off to teach BB #69 now and that is it until next Saturday, which has now become my 1st. own class. If I was not flippin' wide awake from 1pm to almost 3pm, I'd have a bit more pep in my step.

hi all and good morning! Just back from a walk to the farmers market where I went to my favorite vendor's stand. Got a pint of red raspberries; a half-pound of green, yellow and purple beans (her grand-daughter calls the latter "magic" beans as they are purple when raw but turn green when cooked); and a new/old (heirloom) tomato called an orange slicer that she raved about.

Walked after work Thurs, had supper with mom Fri but no walk afterwards as it was raining which we needed badly, and the farmers market this morning. It's still overcast but cool, good to get out early. Have a great weekend, everyone! ♥

Snuck in a run before the second round of rain and wind hits later today. Was a bit wild on the way back with branches crashing behind me as I left the wooded area. So glad I am not on my bicycle. The earth smelled moist and grateful.

Off to the farmers market for veggies. Hoping to grab a lot of basil for pesto.

Thinking an end to the dry spell here. Believe it or not, we should be at near normal rainfall for the summer in Western Washington if the predictions hold true. (Note to the doomsayers: this is NOT the situation in California. Most likely, we will soon be yearning for those sunny summer days we were blessed with this year.)

Off to the market. - Claire
