hi all, just back from a walk while still cool. Did 2.5 mile route this morning & yesterday, plus an early-morning walk to the Sat farmers market. Need to do some Garden & Sculpt on the west side of the house while it's still shady there. Way too hot in the afternoon sun. But a 2nd cup of coffee is 1st on my list of things to do today LOL.

Ran 7 miles with someone I just recently met in a running club.Turns out she's a 3 year survivor!! Talking and running made it go faster. 7 is the farthest I have ever gone.
(I have blisters all over. Ouch)

I usually walk 4 miles a day (for years!), but I can't seem to get motivated this past week. Maybe l'll wear my FitBit for a while for external motivation. Even my eating habits have been questionable. I'm normally a meatless meals healthy eater, and I've found myself eating meals out and having bread and junk food this week. So that is now playing into my laxiness. I'm nervous about my next chemo, and maybe I'm over eating because of the steroids in the chemo or chemo induced menopause. Anyone have these issues? Help. Just writing this gets me a little motivated to go out and walk now. Ugh. Losing my hair, too. I'm having the full-on pity party.

oh, I posted in the wrong exercise group, but I still feel this way. If you have any tips, I'll gladly accept them!

hi Sloan15 and welcome! I remember one afternoon about two weeks after first chemo, walking in a brisk spring breeze, and my hair floating off my head like dandelion fluff. After surgery, I set a goal to walk 500 miles. To motivate myself, I counted down from 500 instead of up from zero.
I gained a bunch of weight from chemo & steroids too but that's because I ate what tasted good. Eventually I lost the chemo weight but am still carrying around those last ten stubborn pounds.
Come here and post something every day, even if it was just going from the couch to the mailbox if that's all you can do that day. All movement counts! ((hugs))

Did Ujam Friday. Yesterday walked to our Farmer's Market and did a 6 hour shift at our bar/restaurant. Going to guess that's all a few miles. Need a fit bit I guess.
Today home with my 5 yr old having a lazy day. Working tonight.
Happy long weekend!

yay Geewhiz 7 miles of awesome
DH is away so I got my neighbor to watch my kids while I did a 10k distance. Last chance for a long run before surgery Wednesday.
Came home to find out I've got a puky kid. Never fails that at least on kid gets sick when DH is away and then we're all stuck at home.

Got in about an hour and half water aerobics after church this morning and before the rain. Not as bad or long as previous days but rain nonetheless. Then went and sat with a friend so no bike ride tonight.
Night sculpted friends.

took a nap and 25 year old DD curled up with her head on my shoulder and my arm around her for a nap too. It was wonderful ☺

Sloan: Welcome! Party away - it helps you to move on.
Outrunning: Sorry about your sick child.
Patoo: Glad you were able to do your water aerobics before the rain.
Today has been very different! A nice, light breeze and low humidity. It was wonderful! I know fall will be here soon.
Walked/ran late this evening.
Edited to add - So sweet, Sweet. I feel the love just reading that.

Patoo, your options are great. So nice to have so many choices on the schedule.
Sloan, welcome to the group. Sending gentle hugs and support.
Outrunning, hope your little one feels better soon.
Exercise Saturday was limited to walking while running errands after my follow-up ultrasound. Today I swam leisurely for an hour and a half plus an hour of aqua jogging. Squeezed in an hour of vitamin D therapy while reading a magazine and did 4 loads of laundry.
Wishing everyone a safe and happy Labor Day tomorrow.

Welcome Sloan. Just do what you can for now and know whatever you do will help you bounce back faster and better once you are done. Went down to Newport to see how the other half lives, 11,000 steps.

Hi. Thanks for the welcome. I did get my 10,000 FitBit steps in this AM, so hopefully I"m wrapping up that pity party of mine.
Badger -- Thanks for the dandelion fluff image. It made me chuckle. Maybe I'll set some type of goal for myself. I'll think about that.

Welcome Sloan. Sweet glad you are resting and I know how much you love and miss her so it must be nice to have her home. Odie how was the ultrasound? Outrunning hope the bug passes quickly for the kiddo.
Did Body Pump this morning.0 -
Ruth, did you take the cliff walk in Newport? I lived there 3 times and my oldest son was born there in 1969. Fun place to live then, but the last time I was there we got lost.

Sloan, welcome and consistency is key, says the woman who has not worked out since Saturday~sigh. Sweet, very sweet. Go Cheryl!
I'm into laundry and packing for a flight on Wednesday to SD to go to my nieces wedding in Newport Beach. It's a quick in-out, no car rental for me and I'm back on a flight back to the UK on Monday. Older sis is serious triathlete/iron man so I'll be getting in some exercise.

Sweet dreams, sweet! Sloan, the steroids can make you ravenous I think. I gained 7 Kilos during chemo. I am still hanging on to 2 and happy enough with that although it took years to shave off the weight.
Saturday was Zumba with a short group salsa lesson at the end. Sunday I biked to a Food Festival but it was so crowded I decided to go home and cook dinner instead of taking out food from there. I went out this morning with my walking buddy and will go to Body Jam tonight.

sweetandspecial What a wonderful nap. My kids are DS 9 (today is his birthday) and DD 6. They are super cuddly. With DH away they've slept with me both nights and we had a nice hug session both mornings. I dread when they are too big for that. You give me hope for the future.

Outrunning hope the little one feels better quick! At least it happened before surgery - after would have been way more stressful.
Do you have any tips for blisters? I keep getting them. I have tried all kinds of different socks and shoes. It does seem the ultralight smartwool socks are the best. I have tried moleskin (falls off during run) and just about everything else I can think of!

awww Sweet (& Outrunning) that's sweet. They'll always be your babies, right? ♥
Up early (of course when I have the day off) so will take advantage & go walk in a bit.
Hope everyone has a great week ahead. Happy Labor Day USA. Thank you workers.

"cliff walk" - sounds like my ride in Blue Ridge mountains NC in July. Ruth loves those cliffs.

Off to water aerobics then, maybe, a cookout this afternoon although rain and lightning expected this afternoon (big surprise - not).
Enjoy the holiday my USA friends and just enjoy your day any overseas buddies.

TwoHobbies- I did not fall off the bike! Yay!!
I did an 18 mile ride. Very flat with water views along the way. My toe felt good. I am not going to attempt any hilly rides yet. I really want it to heal so I can get back to running.
Ruth- I love Newport but it is crazy how much wealth is there. I am on a friend's boat in NY surrounded by million dollar boats in this marina. Not our usual lifestyle. But it is a beautiful day!

Lilacblue, Wow, that is a long flight! I am wondering if you are concerned about your arm and the change of pressure on the plane for so long? I see you only had one node removed, so maybe not do much. However, I am a little concerned about flying after node removal. Anyone else concerned? Anyone wear a sleeve just to help with the concern for developing lymphodema? I have read that change in pressure on longer than a couple hours flights could - could add to the development of lymphodema.

Ruth and SoCalLisa - I like the cliff walk in Newport, but I really like walking beachside along Crystal Cove to that little restaurant --Beachcombers -- on the water and having a light breakfast. There's something calming about a little fog, a little sand, and someone else cooking for you.
Sweetandspecial-- those times make my heart sing
I did my 10,000 fitbit steps this AM. Today I feel good.
Tomorrow I'll have a TC treatment, and then the Neupogen shots. The shots make my hips ache a little. Is it still okay to walk if it aches? I was reading that Tamoxifen also makes the joints ache, and it it okay to walk then, too? (I'll be on that soon.) Honestly, walking takes my mind off the achy feeling, but I just want to make sure I'm not rubbing any tissue together and damaging anything.

Sloan15 I was stuggling with joint pain. I wsa pretty miserable - could barely get around. I did all kinds of physical therapy etc...it finally dawned on me that it might be tamoxifen related. My onc said it was ok to come off for a few weeks to see if I felt a difference - I did. I played around with the manufacturers (several different companies manufacture the drug and its not totally identical) and I seem to get less pain from one - I can't remember the type right now. I also started to walk more and then jog. And interestingly the pain and swelling are almost non-existent.

TH yay on not falling. Happy Birthday to your baby Outrunning. Sloan Beachcombers is a lovely place to hang out.
Did Zumba today class was supposed to only be half an hour but there were no other classes behind us so he ended up doing an hour and a half, and wouldn't you know it I forgot my socks again, luckily there was a Ross in the same complex so I was able to run and buy a pair before class, I am now going to put a couple of pair in my car, I can't believe I've done it twice in the same week

Edited to add, Sweet Houston Zoo has a new baby giraffe, they have a webcam, http://houstonzoo.org/meet-the-animals/giraffe-barn-cam/

Cheryl, you forgot your socks because you were thinking about the good looking guys there. You always seem to find them. ☺😊☺

LilacBlue . . .wow what a long flight. I have UK friends in Cali and they often do quick turn arounds.. Just flying across 3 time zones does me in.
Mysunshine. . . Have never heard that lymphodema can be caused or worsened by flying. I haven't had any to my knowledge, but if I lie on either side for too long my arm will go numb, both lymph and nonlymph side. Get same effect if I over do with my shoulders due to continued nerve issues. I was driving a go cart at amusement park yesterday. One of my favorite things and paid dearly for the pressure from steering the cart around the track.
Sloan15. . . I take supplements (magnesium, zinc, glucosamine, calcium etc) for joint pain from both Tamox and Lupron. Also for me exercise helps as well as my PT.
So DH and I have been worried about how we'll manage the 10 mile Breast Cancer walk in less than a month. The most we've walked since EX is 5 miles and I will be only 10 weeks post on walk day with continued nerve pain no doubt. I think my prayers have been answered. The local head noticed that I'm a photographer and knows I had recent surgery. She had offered to add me to the photography team. They need more. Dh said he'd drive me to and fro if necessary so we don't have to walk the 10 miles. LOL I have to give him a lot of credit for being willing to do the walk in the first place. He weight trains and hikes with me and we do have a goal at some point of finishing a nearby 23 mile trail.
At the gym trying out my new Fitbit HR Charge. Dd wanted a Charge because lots of her soccer teammates have them. Got a deal on Amazon over the weekend. So I get the new upgraded one and dd (19) gets my 2-month old Charge. No dh is jealous and he wants one for our hikes. Lol

Scottiemom- I got my Fitbit Lstat month and love to track my activity. There are 4 of us that compete against one another. It helps keep me moving.
HBCheryl- I forget my earphones regularly, so I can relate to your socks.
I walked my dogs on the walking trail with my DH first thing this morning. Afterwards, I went to the gym and did 30 minutes on the arc trainer, 25 on the treadmill, and weights on the arms.
Enjoyed my Labor Day with the family relaxing and barbecuing. Hope everyone enjoyed the weekend!!

I kept busy every day. Yesterday I thought might be my rest day but I ended up going for a 35 minute bike ride late in the afternoon and then walked the dog a mere 10 minutes. He was not happy but it was darn hot. Today is slightly cooler so I walked him 20 minutes and rode my bike for 45 minutes to an hour, and did a few minutes of hedge trimming for my upper body workout.
Scottie that worked out and you are just as valuable taking photos.
Yay, ginger for a toe that feels ok and no falls! My one experience hanging with the rich was on my company VPs sailboat in San Diego. I would have loved to be a regular to that lifestyle!
Sweet now that is a great nap. The only snuggling I get from my 18 year old is if he is sick so I know how special that was.
Sloan give yourself a break. Sometimes during chemo I only wanted cheeseburgers and the next day I'd be eating broccoli salad. Just get through and do the best you can.
The weekend went fast 😂. I don't want to go back to work.
