Cheryl. . .that totally makes sense. I'm sure I do vary my stride alot. Only the last two tracks are from my new HR. The prior from the Fitbit Charge I had before and gave to my daughter. DH wants one now, but we would like to accurately record our hikes as we find a few days each month to hit the trails. Our goal is a 23 mile hike around a nearby mountain. Probably won't make that till next summer but once dd's college soccer is over early Nov., we can hike each weekend weather permitting. I do like the HR tracking though. I had an HR watch years ago which did not work nearly as well. Between my two surgeries my lungs have taken a beating along with the rest of me and it's terribly humid right now so when my heart rate rises with the hills it's harder to breathe. I really need to strengthen my lung capacity.
Way to go on 7 years. I've been a bit weird the last few days because I'm quickly approaching one year from diagnosis. Currently one year from annual mammo that started the ball rolling into downward spiral. I have to keep reminding myself that I'm so blessed particularly having found BCO. I did not have the courage to join until 3 days post BMx but from the start the support has been wonderful.
Odie prayers for you. You should not have to wait.
Outrunning. . .please take it easy. My house has way too many piles since EX but it takes time to recover. Good luck!
3 miles today walking around zoo before dd's soccer game. Then came home and took a 3 hr nap. I think I could have slept through the night. Still sooo exhausted three weeks after returning to work following 4 weeks out from EX. Gym tomorrow and will begin very light arm weights this time. Trying to convince my 13yo ds to come with us so he can start weight lifting with me.

Nice short bike ride (6.5 miles) this morning. Then attended group for diabetics to get myself back on track to keep my A1c glucose levels down. Still trying to get my Medicare Advantage group to figure out how to get my PCP setup properly so can start putting medical providers in place before run out of my meds (still have about a month's supply left).
Night sculpted friends.

Scottie, what team does your daughter play for?..I spent 20 years as a volunteer referee. but that was over many moons ago.
All three of my boys played soccer, but switched to water polo , baseball, and tennis as they grew older. My oldest is 46 and still plays men's baseball, not softball, and has been a catcher all these years. You would think his knees would have given out by now. He and the youngest still swim and my youngest is a high school teacher, but also coaches both the boys and girls water polo teams.
The middle one who is a doctor, has little free time, but does play men''s soccer and roller hockey..
I was looking at my college yearbook and surprised that back then they didn't acknowledge women's teams..we didn't even get our photos in the the yearbook. I played intercollegiate softball, basketball and volleyball. I taught swimming for 45 years and started playing tennis as a forty year old. Now I don't play anymore, because I fear I will fall.
I do have a fitbit and get about 3 or 4 miles just doing stuff around the house. I find out Monday if and when I have to had the surgery to put a rod down my broken humerus. It hasn't healed properly in six months...and so it goes..
I hope to get back into my fitness program as soon as the doctor lets me. He didn't even want me to walk for six month so I am totally out of shape. Maybe Cheryl can light a firecracker under me...hugs to all

Odie, thinking of you. Once you do get your results, you should give them heck for their very lax attitude. Good Grief!
Scottie, it is better now, but for years I was always very crabby and out-of-sorts the whole month of February......my diagnosis month. I am so superstitious that, even though I kept copies of everything and could look in the binder in my closet any time I wanted to, I can't bring myself to look back at the actual date of diagnosis, surgeries etc. It still creeps me out to much.
For me, the gold lining of the whole thing has been the true friendships I've made here with people whom I would have never even met under any other circumstances. Life is strange sometimes, isn't it?
SoCal, don't tell Cheryl to light a firecracker under you unless mean it, because she will!

edited to note that I did an hour long pilates DVD this morning.

Lisa. . .pm'd you about the soccer. Prayers for Friday. My ortho orIginally told me I needed my L4/L5 disk replaced right away . It degenerated from a 1998 fall when I broke my tail bone. That was Feb. 2014 and I told him no surgery no way, so opted for lumbar epidurals instead. Was supposed to have nerve ablation last Dec. but BC intervened. I've finally gotten back with ortho and will redo lumbar epi in December since I met OOP in April due to onco. It's never easy.
Will you have PT? Mine has helped so much and 100% covered at this point.

Scottie we know the feeling for me it's June, when I was booking "that" mammo they offered me Friday the 13th, I declined and took Monday the 16th for all the good it did!!!! SoCal I sure hope there has been some healing, that sure was one nasty fall, and you know me I'm a gym addict, when you get cleared look out I'm coming for you
Outrunning take it easy and don't over do it. Did Body Combat this morning and then spent a couple of hours in the pool this afternoon trying to defeat this oppressive heat, it's getting better but still bleah.

Scottie , I'm all set with a great PT once I get the go-ahead. Have to do the surgery first. I am having lunch with my doctor son tomorrow. We meet half way between LA and San Diego. Hope you can get some relief from the back problems.
Cheryl or Ruth, who joined us San Diego gals when you were here?

I've been doing good with getting my steps in daily....but NOT with snacking. how could I NOT snack for a month on vacation and then come home and shove food in my face!!! HELP!!! The weight is creeping back up!! The walking is a big STRESS reliever. I could not function if I didn't walk. Just need to figure out how NOT to shove food in my face!! Karen

Awww Karen we've all been there don't beat yourself up, just start over and start drinking lots of water to help fill you up.
SoCal from the exercise thread it was Ruth, Badger, Patoo and Sweetandspecial and of course meeeeee

Patoo, with so many activity choices, you will surely be able to bring down those glucose levels.
Yesterday was a two-header day with Body Pump in the morning and Zumba in the afternoon. It was such a gorgeous day I really should have been up hiking or biking in the mountains.

mornin' glories! It's another beautiful day. Walked my 2.5 mile route yesterday p.m. and this a.m. An added bonus was a fave tape in the Walkman - starts with One Fine Morning by Lighthouse, Let It Roll by Little Feat, and Papa Come Quick by Bonnie Raitt.
Mary, check out Let It Roll for your running tunes. Perfect beat & motivational lyrics LOL.
Ooo she's like a smooth stretch of highway
Ooo like a cool Summer breeze
If my motor's runnin' right, we might lose control tonight
Got the shape I love to squeeze, looks that bring me to my knees
Oh please, let it roll tonight0 -
Going to workout today before the Packers game comes on.

Taking Heidihill's advice, I did 60 miles on my bicycle yesterday as a gorgeous and sunny day. Nothing that strenuous as the Centennial Trail up and back. Stopped at a fair/market in Arlington, so came back with a rare breed of chicken for an early October dinner I am planning with my former nonprofit intern and her husband. It was frozen, so made the 22 miles back to the car just fine.
Made skate with brown butter and capers sauce as available at the supermarket and I hadn't made it in years. Must go back to my personal bucket list of making something I haven't ever made/haven't made in a decade or more at least once a month. The skate was as good as I remember it being and not ungodly difficult to make. I did learn not to be stingy with the brown butter which is what makes the dish!!!
Have been scouring eBay for some basic winter wardrobe items. Snagged a pair of brand new trousers yesterday for a song. Exact replacement for a wardrobe staple I already own, so know for sure they will fit.
Today will be a ride around the 'hood as don't want to go anywhere. I think I will explore another potential route (still marked from an earlier summer event) which will give me a few hills. Then some work and time to color my hair.
Thinking a salade Nicoise for dinner as I have everything and need to make one more while tomatoes and beans are at their prime.
Happy Sunday everyone! - Claire

Was going to work out today, but the arthritis in my left foot is acting up, so no work out. Might do one in the morning.

An hour of spot toning with Denise Austin & an hour of walking (trying to atone for the heath bar mini blizzard I ate after lunch......when it comes to food, I am easily led into temptation!).

Karen. . .I'm with you. My FitbitHR keeps me honest about steps, stairs and cardio; however, I'm a carboholic. I'm vegetarian and eat very little fat but I snack on Kashi cereals which are supposed to be good for you. Maybe I should email them. I get weighed more than WW clients between all my doc appts and blood draws. What the he** do they need my weight for just a blood draw? Scale doesn't move despite all my steps and gym workouts. I have noticed more tone though, so maybe I'm converting to muscle.
Gym today. Will hit 4 miless and I'm adding puny 2 lb arm weights back in to regimen. Back to ground zero.

Walked 2.5 miles yesterday with a buddy - lots of fun. Today. spent the morning on gardening and yardwork, which I count as upper body exercise.
Scottie, I'll be thinking of you and hope that you can get some relief with your back. I am almost at my one year anniversary from the "bad mammogram" date as well. It was bothering me more a few weeks ago, but I decided to plan ahead to visit family that day and do something fun. So instead of dreading that day, I now have something to look forward to.
Claire, the skate with brown butter and capers sounds delicious! The thought is making me hungry.
A happy Sunday eve to all, and wishes for a good week ahead.

Claire, You are amazing! 60 miles! Really! My butt can't take more than 15 miles! How do you do that?
0 -
9/13- 40 min at the gym with resistance/weights and a nice 20 min outdoor walk at dusk!

Hubby and I were going to walk but we ran out of steam. I had walked the dog 29 minutes so that's all for toda
Karen I have appetite issues too when I exercise. I continue to look for a solution to exercising enough but not overeating bad food

I've enjoyed catching up on the posts. So proud of all of us!
This has been my weekend to go to Girl Scout camp. It's a weekend for adults only. So much fun! Lots of crafts, went kayaking in a small lake, lots of walking, and eating. The weather cooled off just in time for the weekend. I actually slept inside my sleeping bag on the 2nd night. Here's a picture of a glow ball I made. It takes a 50 bulb string of colored lights and 50 small clear cups. Gotta love Girl Scouts!

Very cute Wonderland I know you had fun. Claire your meal sounds delicious. Scottie I'm the same way, the scale never moves.
This morning did Body Combat express (30 minute class) followed by Grit Cardio my Fitbit said I had 60 active minutes so I feel good about that, this afternoon did some leisurely swimming and then hacked away at my Bougainvilla so lots of upper body work with the clippers.0 -
I love the glowball!! Fun!! I miss girl scouts with my daughter. We had so much fun. I think I liked it more than she did.
Ran 8 miles with a new friend at a really pretty park yesterday. That's a new record distance for me. My feet are so blistered - need to figure that part of the equation out soon.
I really love this thread. It is so motivating to read everyone else's exercise. When I read about Kiki gardening, I got excited about fall plantings! Come on Fall!!!

Yesterday I walked at the nature trail w/ my son. Afterwards I drove to Housto, a five hour drive, for my 1st mammogram since my dx. Wish me luck, I have 3 appointments today.

Wonder - love the glowball! Karen - count me in as one who loves eating too. I lost 10 pounds last Fall, then gained most of it back this spring and summer because I wasn't in an exercise routine. Now I'm back to exercising hard regularly and have stopped gaining - so that's the first victory. Now hopefully now I'll start losing a bit. Odie - hope you get your answer soon.
5 mile run Saturday morning with the running clinic. Beautiful double rainbow at the start. Sunday we were up at 5am to work a water stop for a local half marathon - I've never been on that side of the race experience before.. It was a lot of fun, and the runners were incredibly nice, many of them taking the time to thank us as we ran by. I will remember to do that from now on during races.
Here's the double rainbow - you can see the second one very faintly above the main one.

Beautiful, Nats!
Way to go, gee!
Good luck, Annie. It will be a good day to have over with. Let us know how the appointments go.
I am off to yoga in a few minutes, will do zumba tonight, and will probably take a walk just for fun because it is so nice out (thus avoiding all the work that I really need to get started on around here. Yikes!).

Lovely glowball, wonderland and what a treat with the double rainbow, Nats. Congrats on the personal best, Geewhiz and way to go Claire on 60 miles and being the fittest ever in your life. That is something, after all we lose about 10% a decade of aerobic capacity starting in our 40s. Way to compensate!!!
Cleaned windows yesterday and tonight will try to catch some BodyCombat and BodyJam.

I
Girl Scout camping for grown ups.
Leader training? Or just for fun?I'm a daisy leader, although this BC stuff is getting in the way of starting this fall. Hopefully we'll be on our feet in a couple of weeks.
Feeling okay but still muddle headed today. I promised my daughter I would pick her up today. And since not cleared to drive (and given muddledness probably for good reason.) I'm going to walk. About 1.5 around trip I think.

I am happy to report my mammogram came back clear!! It was such a relief. Thank you! I celebrated w/ a workout on the elliptical and treadmill, lol!
Ruthbru- Thank you , it is good to have that behind me. Later I will go to dinner w/ family to celebrate😀!

Congrats Annie. . .way to celebrate!
I'm just so tired today for some reason, I'm doing nothing, Not good! If I could make myself walk, I'd probably feel better.
Lovely rainbow Nats.
