So good to hear all your plans Badger, sorry you had to lose your yoga studio as I know how much you would have enjoyed it. Patoo sounds like you are having fun making all your decisions. Yay Scottie and Jersey. Jazzy if you have a Sprouts near you, get the prunes from their bulk buns, they are so lovely and fresh out of the bulk bins, I too eat them regularly.
Have been on my feet last two days working and hunched over a table folding boxes so my back has a nice kink in it, thank goodness for foam rollers, last night did a Zumba class, then we all went out to celebrate our instructors birthday.
Ruth I am sitting here eating choke cherry chocolates, I was only going to have one but I'm on #3, they are divine.0 -
12/12- quick 30 min work out on the machines at the gym. Will do a longer one tomorrow, I promise!

Jazzygirl, thanks for the motivation. I will keep that in the back of my mind next time on my bike.
Ruthbru, thanks for the reminder about the prunes. I love them but had forgotten. Now they can supplement the weekly Fosamax I'm on.
Just some walking around today, not much 'real' exercise.
Night sculpted friends.

JerseyGirl: It's sweet being drain free, isn't it? Sounds like you had a fun, relaxing day.
Cheryl: Glad the foam rollers helped with your kink.
Jazzy: Now that's what I call motivation!
It was in the lower 70s today with overcast and fog this morning. We decorated our tree with the windows opened! Don't remember doing that before. No formal exercise but still a nice day.

Jumped on and off the elliptical bike today four maybe five times. Did about two minutes most times. It is a tough workout, but will keep at it until I build endurance. Helped mom with her nearly healed bedsores. Didn't do much else, but something is better than nothing and am doing more than before I joined this thread. One day at a time. One step at a time. Still getting over T side effects and going off T and antidepressants. Thanks for keeping me on the road to improved health.

Jazzygirl, Yep! An hour nap, then got up and walked four miles! Then, off for errands......well over 10,000 steps! Naps are good!

Decision, your oncologist should order a DEXA before you start an AL & it will be paid for if they code it right. My bones held up well. By the end they were down a little but still in the normal range; which I attribute to the prunes, lots of weight bearing exercise & the lifting of light weights, and good ancestors (as I think heredity has a lot to do with it). I have a DEXA scheduled for February & I am curious as to how I am doing now that I have been done with the pills for several years. Now if they have gone bad I will just have to attribute it to AGE!

Dh and I hiked today at one of our state parks. Mountain Creek Trail for about 3.5 miles. I couldn't resist the opportunity to photograph him. Since my diagnosis, I have become his gym rat buddy and his hiking pal.
Jazzy. . .love it!
Decision. . .your MO or other doc should have no problem ordering a DEXA scan. I have a baseline one scheduled for early Jan,
Scottie

Aw.....he is very cute!

ruthbru, thank you for this information. It is very valuable. The scan I had in 2000 or so showed normal bone stock. Ha, I hated milk, but I still had good bones. I have to eat the canned prunes, harder to find, but I find it very interesting that prunes build bones. I liked hearing what you did to take care of yourself. It is inspirational and motivating. I want to move the big table out of my kitchen and set up a work out area!

Good for You, Decision! See you are getting hooked!

hi all, raining today so glad I walked to the library yesterday in addition to my 2.5 mile route. Logging 4 miles for the day. Finished Christmas shopping and will mail boxes of Wisconsin treats to out-of-state family next week. Cheese & sausage of course, plus some lovely chocolates from Gail Ambrosius (isn't that a great name for a chocolatier?). She has a store in Madison but if you want a vicarious thrill, check out her website https://gailambrosius.com/
Wonderland, it's more Fixer Upper than Property Brothers but it's fascinating nonetheless. The 2nd bath is framed in and with the paneling off the LR walls, we discovered the bones of the original house when a window was uncovered. It "looks" onto the wall of the adjacent bedroom, which was part of an addition that tacked two bedrooms to the side of the house.
DF, I had a baseline DEXA scan before starting AI so I think it's standard practice. I've been on anastrozole (generic Arimidex) nearly a year. Doing all right tho I do notice more creakiness in knees. Prior to that was tamox for five years and tolerated it well. Was still in peri-menopause at dx so onc put me on it and kept me on it despite chemo-pause.
Scottie, great pic of your DH. Looks like a guy I'd enjoy having a beer with (Guinness hat).
Need to do housework so exercise for today is some Scrub & Sculpt then maybe some yoga. ♥

ruthbru, little by little.

I am going to do something today called "Star Wars" yoga and will let you know how that goes!

May the force be with you!

Did the FIRM Cardio Dance Party and am being busy all the rest of the day!

Yes DecisionFreak, you are hooked. I've tried the ellipiical in the past and usually quit at 2 mins; think I got up to 5 mins once but just didn't have the motivation to try more so I'm really proud of you.
Scottie, he is really cute!
Pranced around in the water at the beach (lake) today but only for about 15 mins.

Hi everyone! Today my DH and I walked the dogs on the trail. Afterwards my DD and I went shopping at the mall. This afternoon we had a party for my DS, which just turned 15. He and his friends had a lot of fun playing football, watching football, and eating. It was a fun day!
Jazzygirl-Star Wars yoga sounds interesting. I am interested in hearing about that class for sure

Today I felt terrible. Chalk it up to going off the T and the antidepressant. I have learned to pick myself up and keep going as soon as possible after I go through a bad time. I didn't do much exercise but I will be back in the saddle tomorrow. I mean back on the elliptical bike. A friend of mine who has probably run every major marathon told me it takes time to build endurance. Time I hope will be on my side.

Yes, it takes time. After chemo, I started with walking 1/2 mile. I am up to a fast 4 miles.

This weird virus I have made me dizzy yesterday so I was down and out all day but felt better by evening. I awoke to rain today so the walk on a warm day idea went out the window. But I got lots of cleaning done and got my tree and decorations up. I'm counting it!
I just had a follow up dexa last week so I'll be interested to see how my bones are holding up. I would say I don't have good genes since my mom, grandma and great grandma all had osteoporosis. I'm hoping all this exercise has helped me maintain. If not I'll have to break out the prunes and do more weight lifting.
Hmmm, Star Wars yoga?

Okay, star wars yoga update. It was very cool, in a dark studio slightly warm and a lot of restorative poses to begin and end with. The fellow that lead this special class had these cool intergalactic light things on the ceiling and did a guided meditation for us around as Star Wars like story. It was focused on a moving meditation for us to look at our fears and obstacles as we did our yoga practice. The whole thing was just very cool, a total of 75 minutes. Star Wars music the whole way through too.
I really enjoyed the whole experience!

TY, mysunshine4,
I did pull out the fridge, sweep, and treat for water bugs. We have bugs everywhere in the Deep South. It was a vigorous 15 minutes of work, better than nothing. I am having my second hot flash this evening. I hope this Tamoxifen flushes out of my system soon.

Jazzygirl, you clearly have a gift for savoring life's unexpected, good times. I live out in the country and I work to make my own fun. That being said, it is great to read about your adventures. Did you ever try the kind of yoga done in a very hot room? I can't imagine getting that hot to do yoga or anything for that matter, but a friend of mine loved it. Not for most who are in the post-menopausal crowd.

Scottie, those are really good photos. So nice that the two of you enjoy hiking together.
Did 50 minutes of walking tonight. Yesterday I did some mall walking, and in the name of Christmas shopping walked around d the toy store and electronics store as well. I think I know what I'm getting my nephew, but can't find anything for my niece yet.

Decision- I am not into the whole hot yoga thing, but this studio does a warm yoga I was able to tolerate tonight. I get hot flashes with yoga, so I need to be careful. I agree in general, hot yoga is pretty intolerable to anyone who is menopausal.
Thank you for the kind words!

Jazzy, the Star Wars style yoga sounds incredible, I'd love to do something like that. I've never heard of an instructor that creative here.

This morning went to Body Pump. My goddaughter had an appointment at a bridal store this morning to try on a dress, she has the big appointment with everyone going next Sunday but she found this dress online and wanted to try it on just her mother and me, so she puts it on and it's beautiful, then they take her back and put on a special petticoat to make the dress fuller and it was stunning, then they put the veil on, crap I started crying, her Mom started crying, she was crying even the people who were there beside us waiting on their bride were crying, it's going to take something really special to top the one we saw today, but she wants her Step Mom and sister to be part of the process.
This evening went with friends up to Naples and walked 3-1/2 miles looking at Christmas lights on all the houses on the canals, started raining so got wet in the process but it was a very pleasant evening.0 -
Very fun day, Cheryl!
The Star Wars Yoga sounds awesome!
I got up at 5:30 am to make my list of Christmas Menus, groceries, when I have to do what etc. etc.....whenever I've tried to do it at night, I fall asleep!!! So now I'm down to 3 pieces of paper: menus, groceries, when to do what.....and 10 recipe cards.....how did my mom entertain basically all the time???????
I will go to yoga this morning, do some of my shopping on the list during the day. I will be subbing for a friend who will be out having surgery & recovering Thurs/Fri/Mon/Tuesday & the first 1 1/2 weeks in January.....so I need to get the Christmas stuff organized ASAP. Zumba tonight.

Hello, all. I've been lurking here for a few weeks, enjoying the workout (and life) stories. I also appreciate that many of you are years out from diagnosis and are still posting. That's so encouraging for those of us who were diagnosed more recently. I wanted to chime in about heated yoga. I'm a post-menopausal reluctant convert to it. I still find it somewhat uncomfortable, but afterwards I feel like I've had a better, deeper workout. I never would have predicted that for myself, as I generally hate the heat, but there it is. That being said, the Star Wars yoga sounds like a blast!0

The Star Wars yoga sounds wonderful. And there's no way I could do hot yoga - I'd be passed out after the first minute! Also I'd be worried about triggering an LE flare. Cheryl - the young bride must have been lovely. Cubbie - you're brave to even go near an electronics store this time of year! BTW, your Cubbies are having a busy off season - they're going to be a team to keep an eye on next season!
Bluedog - welcome - we're neighbors!! Always good to see another Terp on the board!

I went out for a pre-dawn run this morning. It was beautiful weather - I couldn't believe I was wearing shorts and a t-shirt for a December run! About a mile into it I was feeling great, then suddenly I found myself face down on the sidewalk, with bloody knees, a scraped up elbow and a hand that hurt like the dickens! I'm not sure what happened, but I think I may have slipped on a slick spot, or maybe on some acorns. I'm taking it easy doing RICE on it - we'll see how it goes the next day or so. My LE is on the other side (thank goodness), but I'm using my handy-dandy gauntlet for the Compression part of RICE. So I will be taking it easy the next few days.
