Rose, Poinsettias need a lot of water. You were doing them a favor. Sorry it had to be in the middle of the night, tho. I hope you get sprung soon too. People need rest and hospitals are geared to prevent it.

    Jazzy, Love the tumbleweed snowman!

Got out our fake tree last night to find that the stand is broken and gluing doesn't work. Not sure what we'll do now. The scouts are selling trees around the corner. Maybe we'll see if those come with stands of some sort. It's 39 here and maybe some more rain later.

For you Rose. Thetree the kids decorated. Must have room for trains. Presents to one side, wooden tracks to other. One of the legs broke on the tree so duct taped a scarf to pole to make it big enough to sit in real tree stand. Pardon the patching on the wall. Contractors homes always last on list.

Cool lily pads. Will they hold adults? What kind of creatures lurk under?

Yea for DS getting sprung. Hopefully Rose will too.

A trick I used for real trees so I wouldn't have to water them was to get a galvanized bucket (make sure there is a sturdy trash bag around it), start filling it with sand to about a 1/3 of the way up, put tree in it (hopefully centered with the good side out), add more sand to about 3/4 of the way up, start adding water and alternate with sand and water until nice and tight to the top. It does take two people to do it. The tree doesn't dry out and I would leave it up for three weeks. Only problem is it's a b..ch to get out of the house. Have to make sure the trash bag is up around the top of the bucket otherwise the sand gets in the house. Once outside DH had to wrestle the bucket to get the tree out. It was so worth it for me since I had to deal with the watering and getting ornaments off. Never had to worry about dry needles.

One year, we put the tree in our family room in our basement. Our dog used to go under it and use lower branches to scratch his back. Between that, the tree drying out, and having to go through two door frames to get it outside, the tree lost almost every needle. It was so funny to see the reaction of the trash crew when they came to pick it up. It truly looked like Charley Brown's Christmas tree.

loved all of the firemen Santas and the pictures of the men pin ups! Also the cute trees everyone posted. Patty, glad you are home. Pace yourself. Rose, hope you feel good enough to get sprung soon with some relief from the pain and vomiting. Mags, sorry you guys are down with the crud at your house. I'm over last weeks H&P finally. Getting ready for son and daughter in law to be here for Christmas week. Having Christmas dinner here for 14. What was I thinking. Planning on using the Lenox Christmas China. In the back of my mind....is this my last Christmas? Can't wait to see my kids.

I don't often post but I'm here morning and night checking on all of you. Love Brenda

Zills! I'm glad you explained that! I thought you had taped the tree to the wall.... something I would probably do.... I love ALL trees!

I love those Lilly Pads! Beautiful video.... I've never seen anything LIKE that!

And Sass misspelled a word? And the Priest found out? Can't do NOTHIN' around here anymore.... Okay.... you can talk medical, but I don't have a CLUE.... mostly.... And Politics is just too controversial..... See, I KNOW about Republicans and Democrats.... but I'm not neither of those, and THAT way I don't have to decide..... and no matter what anyone else is, you are still my friend.....!

That analogy eliminates any aggravation pertaining to what-ever I just said.... So anything political just leaves me in the dust.... oh damn, I just broke a fingernail..... see what important things I have to deal with?

Spookiesmom: now will you please return to the building, better, to the room now! We miss you.

The puny tree I hang the hat on is the remains of an Indian hawthorn (rest bush died of leaf spot).

I wired a tree under a breakfast bar one time. Had a crazee cat. She never attempted to climb it but I took no chances

I have finished the one box of loose ornaments. Might quit soon. Spare looking but not bad.

Yay - the Verizon repairman did stop by. Sent him out to look at my leaning telephone pole (not your kind Chevster). I think I may actually get something done about it. He even stopped to look at the pole on the other side of the creek. Good guy.

    ThumbsUp

Oh I know! Telephone poles are the WORST to dance with.... I mean splinters everywhere! As bad as sitting in the sand on the beach, and sand is all the way up to your neck!

I am just crocheting and messing around today....

DD called from Orlando.... was going to shop with our oldest Grandson...... I was thinking "can't she find a better day to shop, than today?" Then remembered it is 80 degrees there.... and not a foot of snow....

Are you guys going to watch the finale of the Voice tonight? I love the judges..... they make the whole show fun!

Chevy- yes, huge fan of The Voice. Although I would LOVE to see Gwen be part of the winning team (she said last night "I could be the first girl to win"), I think Jordan is really the best vocalist and can pull off the performance part too. I liked him very early on, and because he is sort of an underdog type. That being said, I liked the duet that Dolly Parton duet that Blake and the little blonde girl did last night too. They are all so good. I think the visibility will be good for all of them in the long run. It is good they let the people choose at the end.

There is going to be some great musicians on tonight to celebrate. Think this will be a great finale show!

Zills - Yay another Harry Potter fan. Have been blown off by folks that see it as a child's story. LOL Same with Peter Pan. Alice in Wonderland. Oh, all of Dickens, all of Thoreau.. I know it may not connect. But Thoreau's On Walden Pond. Had a serious thrift issue today. Several books. High priced on the thrift side. Finally put them back. Walked with them for a while. May go back and look. They were separate from the books. It was from a collection. Some were in German. He was German. History books and design books. One stamped " Library Of Congress duplicate copy " Duh, all books get a number, not all books get a stamp that says duplicate copy as being in the national archive. There were about 7--8 books from this guy's collection from the 60's(guessing when he purchased them). The SPCA had them priced high 5$ TO 20$. They were historical books. Chit. May go back. Feeling wholly guilty for not buyiny them.

Smarty. YAY.... Please ask that they write a paper for publication. DGS fought for this solution so long. He likely had few publications to support his conclusion that amputation was the solution. His doc's struggled till day of amputation per your post. The reasonable thing is to do a minimum one year follow up to determine pain change. Ideally, a publication that follows at intervals i.e. updates 1,2, 3,4,5 year updates. The pain community needs this info. RSD/CRPS....is awful, beyond awful. Total life disrupter.

Okay, watching The Voice now! I agree that the show tends to favor the country singers.

But remember this one? I think probably the best finale I have ever seen on the show. Tessann Chin channeling Whitney Houston.
