INSOMNIACS place to talk in the wee hours

It is what it is. I need to accept the fact that I am not responsible for anyone's choice or action. It is hard enough dealing with me, myself, and I. I have decided not to run into walls or hit myself on the head with a heavy object. Stomach is protesting.

Susan- hopefully you don't need a shoulder to cry on, but if you do I am borrowing Queenie shoulder. May I Queenie?

Spookie, those are goats. Yes, they are small. I always have to rest my cursor on the emoticons if I'm not familiar with them just to be sure. I thought the ewe was the sheep at first and that's when I noticed the goat.
Chevy, if it makes you feel better, I was on my older laptop last night and the emoticons I posted from my newer laptop were the cute little boxes.

That's just a few of the hundreds. And the size I see.

Spookie, I'm so old school because of my older computer, I forget I can pull up the emoticon list straight from the computer. Ok to laugh at this, I pulled up messages and copied the tiny emoticons to my post here. Keep down the laughter as I can hear you ladies now. I need to set up some lessons at Apple so I can get the max out of this machine.

Oh, yes on my iPad. I don't use my iPhone to read or post here, too small for bad eyes and chubby fingers. I was on the newer laptop and for the life of me couldn't remember where to find the emoticons. So, I pulled up messages on the computer and did a copy and paste from that.

Queenie, I trust that you will also lend your arms if our Dear Susan needs a hug. Wish we all could gather and commune with you two somewhere like this:

And just relax.....

I hope you are feeling better and get home yomorrow. Sleeping in your own bed is so nice.
I wanted to ask if any of you have any ideas for me. We bought a house that was flipped. The floors in the LR DR Hall and front stairs are brazillian cherry, I need to do something on the stairs immediately because I will fall down and so will the dogs. They do not have particulary deep treads and I have big feet, 12s, I have to put something onto these stairs. I don't care what it is as long as I don't fall. Ideas, I am open to anything at all.
To make me feel more urgent my friends Aunt, 81, fell yesterday on a walk and broke three vertebrae in her neck and is now paralyized. The scares me hugely. When I fell through the table top my head was saved by a box of fabric swatches. You could see the indent from my head in the box. I was blessed. I am getting so scared of falling more it has been 7 times since 2010. Two of the times I know I passed out and that was this year. I used to feel invulnerable, no more.
Love you all.
Ginger

a carpet runner with low pile carpet? maybe visit or call a carpet or flooring store and ask for advice? So sorry about your aunt.

No throw rugs, the dogs will learn, too dangerous for you. Home Depot or similar should have non skid stair runner that can be nailed in place. Carpet on steps can be slippery too.

Non skid stair runner I will look into that. Thx.

Gingerbrew, so sorry to hear about your aunt. They aren't pretty but look into non-skid stair treads, individual ones you nail to each stair. Be careful sweat one.

Ginger, we did this ourselves. Carpet from Lowe's and rods at Tuesday Morning

Mags, that looks very nice.
Gingerbrew !!!!!! I also have man feet, ladies 12..... Actually have a pair of 13. It's been the embarrassment of my life. What can we do ? I begged my father to take me to a surgeon, and have them shorten. His response was always, be grateful for your strong healthy feet. Imagine being born with no feet. He was right. Now at 60, I realize how unimportant it is.

Hello Ladies,
Have been sewing up a storm for the last several days Usually until 3-4 a.m. There is an Etsy associated show on April 23rd here in Salem, so I need to have enough items made to sell. I just hope a lot of people show up. Geez! I can't believe how much I've missed. You girls move quickly here.
Ginger - So sorry to hear about your friend's Aunt. The thought of falling is very frightening.
Patty - Great news! You're getting sprung.
Loverof - Those family issues are so frustrating. Do you know where those pics of the dining table were taken?
Susan3 - Here's hoping you get good news as to your kid's residency assignment.
MsChevy - I think this morning was one of those days I asked myself if what I'm seeing in the mirror is for real.
It was 65 & sunny here yesterday, but today cold, gray and rainy. Spring has just got to be close, right?
Hello to everyone else. Hope you sleep well.
JunieB.

Do you have railings on the stairs? Sometimes carpeting helps, or even like Spookie says, non-skid rubber step covers or a runner... I lean against one wall, and go down side-ways on our narrow steps... If my hands and arms aren't carrying stuff down, I hold onto the other side. Our stairway is very narrow... same with the steps...
I don't just run down them anymore... And when we had Lacee, she could get UP there easy, but was afraid to come down, and would stand up there and bark at us, telling us "No way...come get me!" And sometimes I would go carry her down...if we couldn't coax her down...

Someone said "You need to call a Priest to go down those steps!"
That's just awful about your Aunt Ginger! Sorry........xoxoxoxo
