Sensi, I put the cart before the horse. I need to do some posting and then the linking. I started here versus there. I'll send you it by PM to make sure you find it.

  • Thanks,

I did go and start to search using search engine 😉. Too tired to read tonight, as insomnia took over last night. Tucking myself in. I'll check my messages tomorrow.

    Thank you

I just received this from Dr. Retsky. Hope it doesn't create undo concern on anyone's part. But it's important. Dr Sukhatme does a beautiful presentation of the research done by Dr Forget.and Dr Retsky.

my last post there today on the Toradol/Ketorolac thread is below

    __________________________________________---

Hi, All, received this from Dr. Retsky

Look at this video from my coauthor Vikas Sukhatme. He is academic dean at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center at Harvard. A very smart guy. OK to circulate.

    Michael

    ____________________________________________________

This is an amazing video presentation. The fella is brilliant and he makes the info so easy. What's sad is the story of Jennifer. Spoiler alert, Jennifer is his wife.

Every concern that we went through in the summer and into the fall for our small group, is addressed in this video.

What I think anyone trying to digest this info should request of their doc to review this video.

Folks with the knowledge that we gained last year, by talking it out, and flying by the seat of our pants came to the same conclusions that Dr. Retsky, Dr, Forget, and Dr. Sukhatme, we did good. Our research and conclusions were good. Yes, it needs to be confirmed by a prospective study. I hate the thought of a prospective study when the results mean that recurrence could be avoided by a simple < 10$ IV push pre-op.

Way back when I said that being on the right side of the change when change is occurring is the side we want to be on.

Dr. Forget has a study going in Belgium. Dr. Retsky is working on getting something approved in two other areas. India and Africa

As Dr. Retsky has said, feel free to share the link.

Well Sas, I'm glad your doing good. Like I said I am used to a couple of people who don't respond to me, but now that I know you're ok and having fun with your glass obsession, I feel better. In regards to the puppy situation, the breeder I have been dealing with got a male cairn puppy from a friend of hers in Idaho and that breeder's got beautiful dogs. Poppy will be coming into season in May, and Chase will be the Dad. So I am first on the list for a male puppy. She is 2 hours northeast of Spokane. So an 11-12 hour drive from my place. The initial breeder is refunding my deposit. If it is meant to be, it will happen.

Tried to post pics of Poppy & Chase, but they wouldn't show up when I tried to submit this post.

Vertigo is quiet today, but yesterday not so much. NP in Palliative care is referring me to the vestibular clinic to see if I can have a procedure where they put me on a table that moves around to realign the crystals in my ears. Wierd, but if it works, Yeah!

Shepkitty - I chuckled at your analogy of the turkey pop-up. I hope your present treatment lasts keeps working for you for a long time.

Susan - Thank you for the well wishes. The vertigo thing is day to day for now. I've never had this before, but from speaking with several other ladies today, they told me that they had vertigo pop up suddenly too. And we all agreed that it SUCKS!

Hello Loverly! Hope you had a great Sunday.

JazzyGirl - Yeah! for warm sunny convertible weather.

Also Sas - I forgot to mention before that for some unexplainable reason I've been craving V-8 and Dill pickles like crazy lately. And no I'm not. Drank 8 bottles of V-8 last month alone. If this continues, I might need to buy stock. Loopy

Junie, if you remember, my BPPV vertigo started with a head knock in the middle of the night in a dark room. It was funny, Both surprised and hurt. It was like a SNL skit.

The whirling and swirling from the vertigo lasted, I forget, progressively went away. Sometimes now makes a whirl. The first few months were the worst. It was every which way. Never fell with it. With all my falling, you would think that would be a given. God forbid if my right ankle ever got vertigo, I'd be dead. -------At least ten closed head injuries from my right ankle/foot.

Hi ladies. Just a quick pop in before I retire for the day. Have to work to tomorrow.

JunieB, have your doc check your electrolytes to make sure they are within normal limit. Craving for salt could stem from electrolytes imbalance. Correct ,Ms. Sas?

Shepkitty, may your current treatment work for a long time.

Susan, house hunting is exciting and fun.

    Ms Smarty, lunch next week?

Feline, for sure I would have to use public transportation if I live in Ireland. Car accideny rate must be low there?

Lover - car accident / fatality rate is a lot lower than US but far from perfect. Ireland ranks about 14th lowest numbers in the world based on fatalities per 100,000 people and 20th lowest for fatalities per 100,000 vehicles. (Predictably the worst performers in these tables are the world's poorest countries). Sas I don't know what the back story is - the UK and Ireland introduced a similar high standard driving test int the late 60's/early 70's. I believe prior to that there were no tests. There is a computer-based test on rules of the road where you will be asked 40 random questions out of a possible 800 and must get 35 correct. You must have passed that before applying for a driving test. You must also have had a minimum of 12 lessons with an accredited driving instructor. The driving test includes 40 mins perfect driving and demonstrating knowledge of "under the hood". One of my school-friends (who is a sane and sensible theatre nurse) took 11 goes to pass, but that is unusual. The day I passed my driving test was one of the biggest, most incredible reliefs of my life. Few relieved feelings since have even come close to comparison.

Smarty- that baby owl was not my photo, but pulled off a group on FB around the bosque here. Bosque is the river area, also known as "wooded wetland". If there are more photos of that little guy as he grows, will certainly share.

Was that not just the cutest? Almost as cutie as little Evie, but she is just the cutest of all?

Junie and Loverly, dehydration is a definite thought. Nothing that happens seems to happen for only one reason. I googled 'what does salt craving mean'. They're were a number of articles. Regrettfully, they all were trying to sell something. Even LIVESTRONG.com. I think googling the same thing and reading three or four will give you an overall look at the other things besides dehydration. The Gatorade is a good choice. This link had essentially the same info as the others, but was less blatant about selling something.

    http://cassmd.com/crave-salt/

web definition: Craving for salt is also a common symptom of Addison's disease (decreased production of hormones by the adrenal glands), dehydration, and electrolyte imbalances. Depending on the cause, your salt craving may last only as long as it takes to rehydrate following mild dehydration from heavy sweating.Sep 20, 2013

This is from Healthgrades magazine. HEALTHGRADES develops sales tools for docs, hospital, and insurance companies to leave in waiting rooms or mail to their patients. They are done well. They keep it simple.

    http://www.healthgrades.com/symptoms/salt-craving

What all the info does is place Addisons disease up front as a cause. This is misleading. It's very uncommon. Dehydration or electrolyte imbalance are the common origins

This time I asked google a different question. This is from a sports medicine doc.

    http://triathlete-europe.competitor.com/2013/02/07/muscle-cramping-causes-treatment

That lead to this. which is an A-Z source. Very well written and not trying to sell anything

    http://www.healthline.com/symptom/muscle-cramp

Junie the muscle spasms I had were under the right rib cage, right lower abdomen, left pectoral, varying back muscles. lower legs and feet. Varying back muscles. Happened over a few weeks. When the incontinence occurred that got my attention and I went to the docs. I have had lower leg and feet spasms my whole life--Post Poilo. But this was at a new level. Then the torso stopped. Just stooped. In the reading today I saw where thyroid could be related. I'm still being adjusted on thyroid meds after removal. Last May the thyroid med was moved to a higher dose. Even on the lower dose I had some pretty strange other symptoms.

Oooh.....was looking up info on Great Horned Owls after admiring Jazzy's pics and found a link to live cameras of two babies in their nest http://cams.allaboutbirds.org/channel/46/Great_Hor... There is even audio so you can here them peep! The feed is from the Cornell Lab of Ornithology in Savannah Georgia. There is also a live cam showing a mama Barred Owl sitting on her soon to hatch eggs.

Sas, Great info on the salt cravings as a warning of dehydration and electrolyte imbalance. So easy to happen even for "healthy" people.

Off to the doggie doctor with Marti for a follow-up on her hips and knees. She was dosd with her own stem cells to treat her arthritus and hip dysplasia in August of 2013 and again in December last year. Not the miracle cure I was hoping for but she is much more mobile and active than she was before. Big worry for me is that she might be at the beginning of doggie dementia/alzheimer's. Interesting to see how the doc will test her for that

Sas - Thanks for your effort in searching out answers for my V-8 craving. Doctor did blood work, even checked my magnesium levels, all are normal. Even drank 2 32 oz. bottles of Gatorade and it changed nothing. Go figure! However, last night I notice that my throat & ear are really hurting on the left side. Woke me up during the night throbbing, plus it hurts to swallow. My PCP is 50 miles away and I have my 6 mos. CT today, so I'll just have to go to Urgent care locally I suppose.

I do have Hashimoto's disease of my thyroid, but at my last appt. it was doing fine on the 75 mcg of levothyroxine. So another mystery. It seems like once I got my cancer dx and started treatment, all kinds of things have cropped up that I have never had to deal with prior.

Good morning Susan, Loverly, Meadow, Shepkitty, and everyone else I couldn't remember just now. Have I great day.

Junie, yep it's always sumpin now. What is your Thyroglobulin and antibodies level? Important to have a current one. Say within last couple of months. Then what were a few past levels.

Off to cousins, last night here. Bummed. They won't be back till Nov. 1st

Agh, so sorry JunieB. Our body is such a complex system. Each part has its own function. When one part is not doing its job, the other part compromises. I hear you about having different issues after BC dx. My mind takes me to the dark place when I have sporadic shortness of breath or when my digestive system is not behaving. I try not to let the history of CA robs me of my peace, but at times struggle. Hope they can figure out what going on with you. Very frustrating when your body is trying to tell you something is not right and you don't have the answer. Hugs

ShepK, I can just kiss those sweet faces.

Sassy, thanks for the links. I'm still catching up on watching them.

I watched your video about the "A Simple, One-Time, Inexpensive and Non-Toxic Intervention to Improve Cancer Survival" from Vikas Sukhatme.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H8zVrYEW8vE&feature=youtu.be

Wow! What a powerful piece!! Imagine if we could cut those recurrence rates with that medicine? That would be amazing!!

Sadly, it's too late for too many women, including my neighbor.

Just a small correction. You mentioned it is the story of Jennifer, his wife. Actually, Jennifer is his wife's dear friend (time 19:50), although he says dear friend so softly one may think he's just saying wife. Although it doesn't really matter, the dear friend is gone.

    Thanks again.

Mominator, Don't worry about keeping up. Just jump in. The topics change so fast anyway.

Did they just move the Back to top from the left to the right side? Or have I just not noticed before. I have almost removed my favorite topics several times tonight.

They moved it. I noticed it a few hours ago. Someone asked the moderators if they could have the tech team do that and jump to the bottom because they were so close to remove from my favorites. They also asked for report this post to be moved.

Loverly - No you won't! But that's ok, because you're a lot of fun when you misbehave. Please give Miss Mitzi a belly rub for me. Where in the world did you find that hilarious pic of the doggie in the toilet? I had my 6 mos. CT today, now waiting for results. Also, ortho agreed to redo my right hip in June, so once I get that done, maybe I can get rid of the walker. HOPE! HOPE! HOPE! Considering this new development, I can see what a blessing it is that my getting a puppy in June wouldn't have worked. Ahh! God always has just the right timing for everything.

Are you feeling good now? or is it a day to day thing with you too?

Shepkitty - Marti and Rex are adorable. How are you feeling?

    Hello Wren, Mominator & Kath.

Loverly, Mitzi's fur looks sooo velvety ~ such a pretty girl! Love your sofa arraignment under the windows with the sun shining in. It looks like such a cozy spot to curl up with a good book. The pic of the pup in the loo is too much! Must be one of those "designer" breeds……..maybe a husk-a-poo?

JunieB, Is it a hip replacement you are going to have re-done? That certainly would make having a little puppy to tend to difficult. How much more fun it will be to have your new baby once you are feeling better and able to move more comfortably! Must be why folks say "Heaven knows" :-) Hope your dizzies go away and all is well with your CT scans. How long will you have to wait for the results?

Marti's doctor visit went well. She had a great time visiting all the people and pets. She really likes going to vet. Plus she got to have dinner after on the patio at McAllister's and visit even more folks. She is such the social butterfly. Marti's hips and joints are "stable". The doctor does think she is having mild canine cognitive dysfunction. Doc gave me lots of information on different things to try. I have lots of research to do. Mental stimulation, gentle exercise, adding structure and routines, certain dietary supplements…..all can help with staying "sharp". Maybe I'll learn something for me too? I get wiped out very easily from constant pain and fatigue. I'll have work out a plan for mental and physical therapy for both of us. Marti and I have been a working team for so many years; can't quit now!

Off to bed……..wishing you all sweet dreams of things that make you happiest……….

    Wren and Kathy:

    (Blushing) That someone was me!

There were some of us who kept hitting the wrong buttons on our phones. Moonflower dropped off the TE primer thread for about a week until she noticed.

I made the suggestions to the mods on the tech thread to move "jump to top/bottom" away from the "add/remove from my favorite topics" buttons. Similar "report this post" to move away from the the member name.

I thought the add/remove button would go to the right, but the jump was moved. Oh well. The important thing is that the buttons are separated.

I hope these changes will prevent so many of us from pushing the wrong buttons!

Does this mean I get kicked out of here?

    😳
