Hi all- I have been doing water fitness, weights and some group classes. Eating really clean and down 15 pounds in a month. Just got caught up on lots of pages on this thread.
Ruth- I tried POUND last week. It was so much fun!
Life lover- I had the same basic experience as you. Frozen shoulder, weight gain. Then I found exercise made me feel better. I started using a couch to 5k program to getrunning and I love the way it makes me feel. I am definitely slow. Anywhere from 13-14 min mile pace (I call it wogging) but I have done a bunch of races and am not usually last. Keep up the good work!

Blinkie what a gorgeous view and walking there for 15 minutes would be like walking in heaven. Mary yes I know El Cholo and it's funny cause the other day I was thinking of you and wondering if you guys still go to your old neighborhood Mexican restaurant. Sweet so it at your own pace, you'll get there. Congratulations on the weight loss Ginger that is fabulous.
Tonight did Body Jam.0 -
Off to POUND in a few minutes. I will do my lovely restorative yoga class tonight.
Wonderland, I hope you are okay with all the mess left behind after the hurricane went through North Carolina. I talked to my sister last night & things are pretty bad in the Raleigh area.

I managed to go all day without a nap! Hurrah! & I walked up & back on our drive which is sloped. I only added one more minute (16 total) & had to stop a lot to catch my breath, but it was good to be outside and moving. Tomorrow I get some tests on my lungs to try and see what is wrong with my breathing.

yay for movement Blinkie! Hope it goes well with the tests....
Yesterday my exercise consisted mostly of yelling at the radio while listening to the Giants/Cubs. It seems to have worked as we (Giants) survived to play another game. Today I walked a mile or so, back to cheering on the team tonight...

Blinkie: What a beautiful view! Good luck tomorrow with your tests.
Ginger: Congratulations on your weight loss!
Scottie: Is that a picture of you and your dh? Such a sweet picture.
Ruth: We have been very lucky with no damage from the storm. Eastern NC has so much flooding. Schools closed for this week and maybe more. Lots of property damage, road damage. Yes, where I live we were very lucky.
Mowed Sunday for 90 minutes. Mowed and yard work for another 90 minutes on Monday. Today I walked/ran at the park. Also, I have been painting more pumpkins.

Ruth, I'm thinking of taking Pound training and sent HQ a question asking if the music was PPL free. Blinkie, lovely photo out your backdoor and well done on, little by little and good luck with the tests. Ginger, terrific! Claire, Yes to all your comments and Macmillan is very involved in the CanRehab were I received my ceritifcation. S&S, good for you at finding your pace and sticking with it. Mary, run sounded super! Go Chery, Octogirl and pumpkin painting Wonderlandl!
We all have come down with this yuck that DH has had for more than a week - that is going around, so son staying home from school and I'm staying low too, although, may go practice new Block Fit release later and BB tonight.

I had a disgustingly productive day yesterday getting errands done: 1) mammogram, 2) Living Will and Durable Power of Attorney, 3) Card wishing my internist a good retirement, 4) turned in month's worth of blood pressure readings, 5) flu shot, 6) catching up with a guy I dated about 7 years ago in the wine bar, 7) stop for some amazing lip color at Nordstrom, 8) walking 7.5 miles getting it all done!
Back now to real work.
Lady doing mammogram mentioned that she had to position me so that she didn't have my pectoral muscles interfering with the breast tissue. Think that is a measure of fitness. Back to the grind this AM. I do feel the flu shot, but not nearly as much as a good case of the flu.
LB....I'll stay away from your place until the crew recovers. Feel better. - Claire

Two Hobbies, love the picture you posted of the flowers. Our flowers around here have been so pitiful this year because we've had two very wet winters now and are struggling with slugs. They eat everything.
Ginger, thank you for the encouragement. Yeah! I keep telling myself to keep it up and I will maybe get faster one day. I'm still going to do the 5K park run no matter if I am last (but I won't be)
Congratulations on your weight loss!Blinkie, view out the back door? OMG I want to have that view. A good daydream.
Scottie, awwww.... a lovely picture of you and your sweetheart.
I did interval training today for the first time since I started running in June. I think it's the next step for me in trying to up my pace. I also bought myself a waterproof jacket as this is the second run this week that I returned home drenched right through all my layers

Here we are bundled up for an early morning walk.

Lilac, let me know what you think if you take up Pound. DH has the same 'YUCK' as you all have. I am trying to stay as far away from him as possible!!!

Wonderland, glad you are okay!
Claire, I got my flu shot too. I always take two aspirins beforehand & then make sure I do something that involves using the arms afterwards. That minimizes any soreness for me.

Hi, ladies! Been a while since I have posted. I have kept up with a minimum of 45 minutes walking daily. I walked a 5K last Saturday raising money for ACS with my family's support. That was a wonderful experience for us all. Had a check up with my oncologist this morning that went very well. I've lost 12 pounds since I last weighed with her so she was very pleased. Only 8 more pounds and I get to schedule my reconstruction surgery. Focus, focus, focus!
I had my flu and pneumonia vaccine this morning. I took a couple of Advil hoping to avoid the soreness/redness that occurred last year when I took it.
Ruth, LOVE the picture! What a beautiful group of ladies.

They are beautiful ladies, from the inside out. As would be true of most groups our age, many of us have dealt with serious medical and/or family and/or life issues. Yet all have maintained a real appreciation for and enjoyment of all the good things ....the kind of people you definitely want to hang with!!

Love all the pix and stories - we are an AWESOME group!
Gee Blinkie you live somewhere beautiful.

Blinkie-that is a beautiful view!
Lilac-I had that yuck last week. Terrible sore throat followed by cold symptoms. Ended up with back spasms-still not sure if they were related or not. I have not been able to work out in a week. Can't wait to get back to it.
lifelover-how do you do interval training

No walking today, but I did drive about 3.5 hours. Considering how tired I have been lately, this is quite an accomplishment. Had a scan of my lungs and took a breathing test early this morning too. No news yet on that.
Badger - you make me laugh

I enjoy everyone's posts. What a group! Go go go!

Hi Wendiwithani - congratulations on the weight loss and well done with all the walking

Ginger, I use a podcast from NHS Choices. It's the first week of the couch to 5K programme. Basically, I walk a warm-up walk for 5 minutes, then run as fast as I can for 1 minute, then slow down to a walking pace for 90 seconds. I alternate with 1 minute running and 90 seconds walking for about 20 minutes. I finish with a 5 minute cool down walk. You can set a sports watch to do these intervals as well. Once I get better at it I will possibly move up to 90 seconds running. But it's the slow then the bursts of all out running that are supposed to help us get stronger and faster. Let me know if it works for you

Hi sweetandspecial - we are in bed by 9.30 every night. Not always asleep as early as I like but at least I'm relaxing in bed. We are early 5.30am risers and I love morning workouts too!
Enjoy yourselves!

We are about to get slammed with 3 coastal storms, the last being the remnants of a typhoon! So will be a wet one ahead, and suspect even I won't be on my bicycle this coming weekend. I draw the line at high wind and sideways rain. I dragged myself through a 2 mile walk yesterday evening. Feel completely restored this AM. I think I just need to plan on feeling less than chipper the day following a flu shot.
My business partner in NYC has the yuck. I am hoping to escape it.
Wonderful to see everyone being active, particularly the C25k challenges. This is why I do the Seattle-to-Portland each summer. It forces me to get out there and train. Which I really needed this past summer after 8 months of 60-80 hour weeks.
The great news about the rain is that the storms will extend into California. I expect major river flooding here and snows in the mountains. So perhaps an early season on my skis? Can't wait as it's skiing, not cycling that's my favorite sport. - Claire

Wendi - sounds exactly like the c25k I'm following (except for the 'running as fast as I can' bit). My running segments are wogging (still chuckle over that word Ginger
). Might bump it up to 6mph pace as a final kick if I'm not totally beat, but typically just happy to get through the running minutes. I did week 4 day 4 this morning on the treadmill. Too dark in the morning now!Tomorrow is rest day and vacay to boot - planning to go to a neighboring city (the best store we have is Walmart) to buy a baby gift for a shower on Saturday (shower is 3.5 hours away....yuck) and also hopefully pick up a few new things to wear in San Antonio - YAY!
have a great night all!

Blinkie you have a beautiful view, and I think your walks must have more hills than mine!.
Lifelover, we had such a hot, hot summer, and we removed a tree which will lead to my never-ending mulling over where to move all those shade/part shade plants (hosta, heuchera), and what to replace it with. You know, the gardeners hobby over the winter!
Octogirl, Cubs fan here! 55 years I had to wait for this! LOL. Mary, I bet I know what you are doing this evening. Maybe our teams will meet up!
Everyone seems to be losing weight except me. My son's birthday is today so I have just returned from a Mexican feast, including a chocolate pinata for dessert. Maybe next week I'll be more successful. I'll have to try some of that super clean eating that Ginger mentioned, because exercise doesn't work for me. The more I exercise, the more I need to eat.
Oops, got all talkie and forgot to post my exercise! 40 minutes walk Tuesday and 20 minutes today.

Wonderland. . .Pix is my daughter and her boyfriend. I'm doing senior photos in the morning at the same State park. . .then back home to pack up for this weekend's 2-day BC walk. I'm photographing both days but it is incredibly inspiring to see all of the local walkers/survivors.
Exercise today was only a 30 minute walk during work. Will be making up the steps this weekend.
