No walk this morning. Legs too sore. Moving around house doing laundry, picking up, etc. will have to suffice. I am looking at Planet Fitness. There is a center 11-12 miles from where I live. Does anyone have any comments or suggestions?

Velvet, you could ask if they would let you have a free week (or a couple free classes or whatever) to see if you like it or not. Lots of places do things like that so people can 'try before they buy'.

Walked in a charity 5K this morning & did some pilates this afternoon.

Hi ladies! Still recovering from a cold, but managed to do 30 minutes of Zumba at home - legs only since my chest is in some pain with the tissue expander and congestion. Happy to escape to the music and do some gentle stretching today, though.

VelvetPoppy- no suggestions from me, unfortunately... I have not been a gym member in over a decade, opting for the Y or local dance studio of late. I hope your muscle recovery goes well!

spent last week by the coast where, unlike here at home, it was cool enough for beach walks every day. Back to swimming tomorrow!

Meanwhile, my ortho doc's office rescheduled my apt that was scheduled for next week, at which I was supposed to figure out when I can do my knee surgery...so still don't know if I can join those of you going to Florida. Fingers crossed though!

Thursday was body sculpt and treadmill. Nothing yesterday except dinner with our BFs. Was a gorgeous west Michigan summer evening for a pasta dinner and strawberries/shortcake on the deck. Today spent 5 hours power washing the house, washing windows, nipping yet more tree limbs, laundry, planted a new azalea bush, plucked lots of embryonic maple trees from the mulch, had take out pizza for dinner and just finished watching season 1 episode 10 of House of Cards. Pleasantly achy from all the activity today.

KB - hauling shingles is tough work. Burner - I remember the old cereal bowls on the chest. You'll love it when you get your implants.

    Sleep well my sculpted sisters!

Art Fair on the Square was wonderful. There were artists from all over the country and so many beautiful and unique works of art: wood, metal, glass, ceramics, fiber arts, painting, photography, and jewelry. I bought a photograph of one of the funky old faded doors at Preservation Hall in New Orleans. Haven't been there yet but it's a goal and this is a nice visual reminder. Love me some jazz! The Preservation Hall Jazz Band is giving a free concert in Madison next Friday night. Thinking of attending and maybe bringing the photo for them to autograph.

Sunny yesterday but cloudy today. Rain forecast for tonight. Hope it holds off until after Drums on Parade.

Finishing 2nd cup of coffee then headed out for a walk. Will be sitting a lot today, in the car & at the stadium.

Walked 30 minutes (10 intense) and stretched for 8 minutes this morning. Legs cried, but I told them too bad, we're doing this! I have decided to take ruthbru's advice and see if Planet Fitness will give me a trial. I checked out the Y in town & nearly gagged. Too expensive and they pushed for me to join classes. I'm not ready for group exercise yet. I need to be able to build myself up first. I am not comfortable in large groups and with strangers.

Getting medical files in order for H & self, pulling together clothing for Goodwill, then going to just sit and read.

60 minute walk. Felt like 90 but weather app says only 78 so must be the humidity. Remainder of today will be more relaxed. Pick up clutter, a little laundry etc to get ready for another work week.

I'm getting my downstairs carpet cleaned on Tuesday, so I've spent the afternoon dragging everything but the heavy furniture into the bathroom, furnace room, and uncarpeted spare room that contains the treadmill & other "stuff". I am now going to force myself to do an hour of spot toning with Denise Austin.

Velvetpoppy- The Y's in my area do a year free membership to cancer survivors. I wish I could take advantage of it but there isn't a child care option for me. Maybe check online for the live strong program in your area.Nerdy

Had a lovely bike ride this afternoon on the rail trail with my DH DD and the littlest ds, who is now 4🙂. My 15 year old DS has a job at the beach, don't remember if I said that so please forgive me for repeating myself. He's there w grandma and grandpa and his cousin. It's a lot of back and forth from home to the Jersey Shore but that's summer around here!

Go, KB! Sounds like good work is getting done!

Yesterday wasn't feeling very well but did a 20 minute walk. Today I mowed 30 minutes and then walked the dog 15.

Good point, Vargadoll. VP, a lot of places have free exercise programs for cancer patients. Google it and see if there is anything near you. I did one and my trainer was a two time BC survivor. I really enjoyed it and it was a good way to get started.

Hi Everybody! Just finished reading through all the posts since the last time I was on. Today we returned from a week at Emerald Isle Beach. This is the 29th year we have been going to the beach with my side of the family. Lots of walking, shelling, laughing, eating, and drinking! After unpacking I went for my walk/run. I miss the ocean breeze!

This is a storm that blew through. Very impressive!

I love the picture of the storm. Very Byronic. I am nicely trained for the Big Ride next weekend. Did 90 miles this weekend, half of the distance yesterday which included lots of hills, despite the pictures below. Legs are "having a chat" with me. Not sore, but tired. No flat tires.

On the cycling shorts front, the megabux ones didn't fit. Fortunately, I can return them and get my money back. Something to do with a combination of a much slimmer fit and firmer compression fabric. YIKES!!! The lady issuing the return label knew exactly what I was talking about because she's a cyclist and wears the same brand. They didn't have any one size up.

Which turned out to be a good thing, because guess what I found as a brand new listing on eBay. One generation earlier, and knickers, not shorts. But they should work fine, and they are HALF of what I had paid for the latest and greatest. I am thrilled, especially since they should be here in time for next weekend.

Here are two pictures from yesterday. Ready to roll....... - Claire

Chemo #2 was yesterday but still managed to get down to the treadmill for 40 minutes. Hadn't done anything for three days. Sure makes a difference exercising with managing the side effects. Since last weigh in four weeks ago I managed to lose 8 lbs. Nurse was concerned but I said that's what healthy eating and exercise can do for you.

Wonderland and Claire- absolutely loving those picture!

sweetandspecial- lol! Cereal bowls! Yes, that's a term I'll use to describe the tissue expander. I've overused the phrases "turtle shell" and "iron bra" too often.

KB870, ruthbru and sweetandspecial- you all remind me that there's a reason they call it house/yard WORK. Boy, it's a good workout! Nice to see results for our efforts both where we live and for our bodies for the exertion, too.

pink_is_my_colour- congrats on you! Glad you are doing what you can, despite the fact that you're weathering the chemo storm.

Made it to Zumba today. Couldn't really move my torso very well given pain, but did as much with the hips and legs that I could. Got dizzy after 45 min, so had to stop and hydrate and stretch. I love class so much, but it is discouraging not being able to keep up. Going to try to do as much as I can before I have to take another hiatus with exchange surgery at the end of the month.

    love to all.

Gorgeous pics, Claire and Wonderland. What a storm, and way to match your suit with the scenery, Wonderland.

Pink, nice job combining chemo and a long treadmill workout.

Burner, showing up to class is half the work. It was not easy at the start for me as well. Just do what you can is a good strategy.

Kept time at a regatta yesterday and played volleyball when all was done.

No walk today or tomorrow! Went lawnmower shopping with H. Can't figure out why! I sat in a chair at the dealership while he talked about lawnmowers to the salesman and then they had to walk around a bunch discussing whatever. He did buy one eventually. Delivery tomorrow.

Tomorrow getting haircut & low-lights. 2-3 hours in a chair! Going to hurt when I'm finished. Then I'm having lunch with a friend. I hope to get out of the house really early to go by the Planet Fitness in town to check it out.

I should be able to walk Wednesday, Friday & Saturday. Sunday is our VFD fundraiser. Exercise for today, scrubbing bathrooms and utility room.

KB - wow - shingles are heavy. You got a great upper body workout. Badger - hope you can get to the jazz concert. Great storm pic, Wonder! The sunny pic looks like a much better beach day. Love the mountains in the distance in your pix, Claire. PInk - good for you for resting those 3 days when you needed to, then hopping on the treadmill when you were able. Burner - don't worry about not being able to keep up - you were smart to stop when you needed to. It will all come back once you're out of active treatment. I remember a yoga class I took right after chemo - I think I spent half the classes in child's pose because I couldn't keep up, but at least I was there. A few months later, I was doing the Warriors with the best of them.

Weeded gardens and power washed a lot of the patio this weekend at the cabin. Getting ready to head to my fitness class in a few minutes. Also starting to pack for a trip to LA, leaving Friday. My MIL is 89 years old - in good health but we like to get out there when we can. She still lives alone in the family house, and we're able to do a lot of chores for her when we're there. We talked to her yesterday and she already has a "honey-do" list ready for us, starting with cleaning out the garage, so it sounds like we'll be busy.

I had a happy haircut/color/highlight appointment this morning, after which I shopped until I dropped (for the sad reason that our local Pennys is closing & is having big sales. We actually MAKE money at this store, but that apparently doesn't matter to the corporate office.....GRRRR). I will go to Zumba & Yoga tonight & then probably to bed. I am tired!!!!

Burner - may I ask what sort of pain you're experiencing? I had what turned out to be serious nerve pain after my mastectomy/expander placement. Normal painkillers didn't help at all. Once my surgeon realized it was nerve pain from my description of a burning sensation she switched me from Norco to Gabapentin (aka: Neurontin) and within days I was pain free. Still very stiff with limited range of motion, but pain free. If your expander placement was way back in December it doesn't seem right that you should still have that much pain unless perhaps the expander(s) are simply pressing on or poking into soft tissue.

I should check in on the tissue expander pain thread. Haven't been there for months and months. That thread saved my sanity before my pain meds got switched.

I should add, I was back k to the gym at 9 weeks out and credit working out with getting g that ROM back. Each journey is different and I hate to think of you having long term pain if there's a solution.

    60 minutes sanding table legs.

Context: DS and DIL bought a house last fall. They were selling their kitchen table and chairs. Well, I didn't need the chairs but offered 'em a hundred bucks for the table. Nice black/gray marblized top with deep brown stained legs and frame. Really nice table. My vision was to cut the legs down , sand and paint the wood parts and use it for a coffee table in the gazebo we have on our deck.

So - tonight was sanding through the stain on the four shortened legs. Even using my electric sander it was a workout. I'm down to raw wood though, so mission accomplished! Next I need DH's assistance hauling the table top up from the basement so I can sand the frame on that. Then some primer and spray paint and I'll post a pic.

With the shorter little stubbie cut off leg pieces I'm gonna make a short round stool using a round table top from one of those cheap little tripod tables where the legs screw in. Well, the legs ended up falling out after years of use and abuse but I kept the round part hanging around for another several years and now I know why.

Sleep well my svelte, sculpted beauties😴😴😘😘

Zumba with my favorite teacher this morning. Gosh, I love that class! I'm now sitting around while the carpet cleaner does the basement and men dig up my backyard (we are putting in an underground sprinkler system & DH is so giddy that is kind of funny.....he probably feels the same way as I did when we remodeled the kitchen).

Back from our trip to watch the grandkids while my DD and her DH went to a wedding. The kids are 9, 8, and 6, and boy did they keep us busy. First day we took them for a hike, river bend park to great falls on the Potomac. Great day, and at the end we happened upon a turtle demo by the park staff. Next day we went down to the mall where there was a circus festival going on - had a great day watching trapeze, trying our hand at some juggling, and watching a circus under the big top. Then of course a ride on the carousel, and a quick visit to the Natural History museum. Needless to say we slept well at night - this was our first time solo grandparenting (step grandkids that came into our life a couple of years ago), but we did OK and they are great kids, hardly any problems except when they were tired. Got back late Sunday night, yesterday was a military change of command and retirement ceremony luncheon, very interesting. Last night we made it to the beach for "tunes on the Dunes", a pretty good rock cover band was playing and the evening was gorgeous. Storms today, and I had meals on wheels to deliver. Hoping we get enough respite from the rain to head to the beach again this evening for supper, as it is very humid here today.
