I just read about a head on collision in Florida that killed a Deputy and a Corrections Officer - all because of this hurricane. It's horrendous.

Ladies that are done with chemo and wear glasses..... Have you noticed a huge change in your vision? I need glasses to see for away and since chemo my vision seems to have changed a lot.? Is this normal?

My eyesight improved during chemo and has not reverted.

Shelabela, Iam not done with chemo, but I felt that my vision impaired at once. I am near-sighted. I went to the eye clinic for two weeks ago, my GP wanted to check my retina issues. Before they give you a drop that makes your pupil large they do a short vision test. She just hold glasses against my glasses that are over two years old and were fine I thought. It was additional -1,5 on one eye and -1,25 on another. I have to get myself a new glasses but I will wait and see whether it will get better.

Shelabela, I definitely noticed a slight loss in vision during my weekly taxol. Had trouble reading with my contacts and my glasses. (Just had eyesight checked a few months before diagnosis/treatment, so I know my prescription was current.
I am now 3 weeks PFC and it seems to be getting a little better. In my oncologist office today and the nurse practitioner said it is the steroids as pre-meds that effect vision. They suggest that I wait until 6 months PFC for my next eye appt.

Hello all - reporting in safe and sound, came home to find my house intact, yard is a mess with debris, but nothing we can't handle. Thank you so much for the concern and good wishes! I know how lucky I am

Great news Special K!

As my optician put it, there had been "significant change" since my eye exam 10 months prior. And almost 6 months post taxol, it isn't getting any better.

SpecialK, phew. I'm very glad to hear you have a home to come back to. My father and I were viewing some footage - so harrowing. But we were also remarking how much better Emergency Planning is in general but how many parts of the world have nothing. Devastating to imagine the toll it takes.
I have noticed my vision isn't as great; I finished chemo late October.
Another weirdo thing...probably not treatment related but I will throw it out there. I am experiencing all this chapped and redness around my lips. It was first in one corner of the mouth and is now better there, but now on the bottom lip with the redness on the skin right under. I can't figure it out and am not licking my lips. I am putting Vaseline on constantly. Was wondering if this is Angular Cheilitis (I looked it up)...anyone else? I know it's a weird one

SpecialK. Glad to hear that you are home and well!

I keep having the blood vessels in my eyes bursting, has anyone else had this occur? Twice it happened in the right and twice in the left eye. Only in the white area.

I have had the eye thing once a couple months ago...I did read of a reason why, but can't recall what it was

Hi ladies I haven't been on this site in a while.i have a question on tamoxifen. I was on tamoxifen for 6 to 7 weeks and had to come off do to blooding for 3 weeks. Went to my Gyn and she gave me a endometrial biopsy and an ultrasound and an internal ultrasound all came back fine and normal. Then had my cycle again for 2 weeks then I was low on iron so I was taking iron pills for a few days. My MO wanted to wait for me to go on anything until I got normal with my Cycles. So I've have two more and they are back to normal so I seen my MO today and he want me to go back on tamoxifen. Has any one had this problem with tamoxifen and if so what did you do. My Gyn said if I go back on tamoxifen and it does it again they can give me a D&C but I just wanted to jump on this site see if anybody had the same problem as me and what did you do? Im Er 30% and Pr 15%. Thank you and God bless

Hi SpecialK, so glad you and your family are safe and everything is ok with the house. It must have been pretty rough, I red on CNN that 911 was not allowed to take calls and frustrated paramedics had to stay inside complaining about not being able to do their job. Take care of yourselves and your house. Cherry

PoseyGirl, are you sure this is not Impetigo? My youngest had it a couple of times, always started as a small mouth sore in the corner of her mouth and then got bigger and became a sore around it as well that dried and then got moist again. We went to see our GP and she prescribed some antiseptic ointment we used and it went away. Please stop using Vaseline, back in university a friend of my I wrote an MBA with did a research in cosmetic chemicals for her Bachelor degree, that time I was always using Vaseline for my lips. She told me to stop doing it at once for the different reasons, I do not remember exactly it was for over 15 years ago, but some of them were pretty concerning. In Sweden we have this Swiss ointment called Bepanthen, I was first recommended it by my maternity nurse for any red sorrow spots my baby could have. It worked so well that the whole family is using it right now, I am sure it is available online. As the matter of fact, one of my youngest school friends who always had so cracked lips and her mom complained about how they tried everything, I suggested this ointment and her lips healed. She is actually running to me every time she sees me in school to show how good they have become. In case you want to try make sure you take the one called Bepanthen Salva. Cherry

Could your MO prescribe something other than Tamoxifen? Wouldn't that be easier than a D&C?

HI coachvicky thank you for responding. He said there really isn't anything else out there for women that are not going through menopause he was talking about putting me in menopause with a pill that they inject into my stomach monthly and then put me on AI medicine. My gynecologist told me if he's going to medically Put Me In The Middle's I might as well just remove my ovaries.

I better understand. I am probably a lot older. My GYN took everything in a robotic hysterectomy. I was pretty sure that I was not in line for a miracle baby at my age. LOL
I thought I would feel as if another part of me was gone. Funny thing was, I had the best night's sleep in the hospital after the hysterectomy since my diagnosis. I felt in charge and knew I had eliminated a target place for the cancer to return.
Best wishes, Robin. I pray you get this resolved.

hi Vicky I'm not having any more babies neither I had my tubes tied years ago. My MO really don't want me having my ovaries out just because sending me into menopause and knowing if I have a bad time with menopause there's nothing he said that they can give me to help me through it. I don't know at this point I'm like you I'd rather them just remove everything because I'm not having any more babies. But my MO thinks with my Er and Pr hormones being a low positive that he don't think I should make that move and taking my ovaries or having a hysterectomy. But I really don't want to go back on tamoxifen and have long Cycles like that neither because when I was having long Cycles like that I was becoming anemic with all the blood loss. I've been praying about it and the Lord will lead me in the right direction I'm making the right decision. Thank you so much Vicky for your help and prayers. God bless you💗

Robin1234,
Remember these words from TonLee
"1. This person works for you. Period.
2. This isn't a car, it is YOUR BODY. You will live with the consequences long after the tech/Onc/Nurse etc go home to their families and forget about you. You have final say in what happens and what does not happen to it. Period.
3. Advocate for your body like you would a child's, a husband's, a best friend's.
4. No matter what the Dr/nurse/tech/whoever says, they are NOT the boss of you!"
....
"I understand your points. I hear you. But, this is what I've decided. Are you willing to do it?" (Be ready to move on if the professional says no.)"Her words and wisdom have kept me focused and fighting for what i wanted.

Suburbs and Posey. I use eye drops but, this keeps happening. Dr said we will just keep an 'eye' on it.,,was he trying to be funny?

He didn't seem to be worried so, I guess I shouldn't either.

Hap - You piqued my interest with this question and so I googled it and found an article entitled "Solving a Breast Cancer Mystery - Why do "double- positive women do better" but I'm on my iPad and have no clue how to copy a URL, but hopefully you can find it by the title. It was on the Cancer Research UK site.
