CBD and Estrogen
Does anyone have knowledge of the relationship of CBD with Estrogen? I recently heard an expert in a lecture say that canabinoids provide estrogen. That contradicts other information available. Does anyone have anything current?

CBD* does not contain estrogen.
CBD* does not appear to have a direct effect on estrogen levels.
*One note…full spectrum products (CBD or THC) may have some plant materials that promote or mimic estrogen. Terpenes and other plant chemicals can have this effect (similar to soy). That’s why we focus on CBD ISOLATE which does NOT affect estrogen or progesterone.
Estrogen has two main receptors: a or alpha and b for beta. Many people are avoiding estrogen for the alpha aspect (pro-growth) such as with specific cancers. Beta can actually be protective against this effect such as with Siberian Rhubarb or the SERMs like tamoxifen (for breast cancer, etc).

Thank you, obsolete! I would also like to add that the research is simply not there (due to federal illegality of any cannabis product*) to support both claims of benefits and detriment of cannabis whether CBD or THC. I regularly use high THC products for pain relief and as an appetite stimulant. Beyond that, well, a lot more research needs to be done.
*CBD can also be derived from the hemp plant.

Conversely, both high CBD and THC can really help with appetite stimulation and pain control. It is frequently recommended by hospital/ medical social workers with full knowledge of the oncologists. It was offered to me over 13 years ago by a hospital social worker. Full spectrum RSO has been a real help to many. While I completely agree that much more science based research needs to be done, there appears to be evidence that there is a medically beneficial use to both CBD and THC . All of my practitioners know about my use of cannabis (and encourage it for appetite stimulation) and have no objections. Not all practitioners agree so each person needs to check with their own doctors. Also, please see obsolete’s comments.

I take a low dose for insomnia brought on by the meds, @exbrnxgrl . Don't know what I'd do without it.

Me neither! Appetite is my big issue. I’d be under 100 lbs. without it.

Stumbled on this old thread while looking into the same topic. I've been using medical cannabis for a few years and always wondered how it interacts with hormones, especially estrogen.
Not a doctor, so I can't give you a scientific answer. What I can say is that where you get your product matters. Visiting a dispensary in places like the US is very different from the UK system – here it's all through a clinic and pharmacy. The consistency of medical grade oil helped my anxiety and sleep, but I never noticed anything obvious with estrogen levels.
If you have a specific hormone condition, probably worth asking an endocrinologist who knows about cannabinoids. Most GPs won't have a clue.0
