Exercises For People Living With Bone Metastases
Studies show that exercise is safe for people with bone metastases. Research also shows that exercise can improve sexual health and offer many other benefits for women diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer.
In this video, Sami Mansfield, a certified cancer trainer and founder of Cancer Wellness for Life, demonstrates a workout specifically for people with bone metastases. These exercises can help you build strength and endurance, and Mansfield shows how each movement can be modified — so they’re manageable even if you’re not feeling your best.

@moderators My DH and I were always very active, since our childhood, during our early years together, and even after my original breast cancer dx. Hiking, running, yoga, Pilates, aerobics, kickboxing, dancing, weight-training, you name it… We did it all!
Then my bone MBC hit our lives like a ton of bricks, literally holding us down -physically *and* emotionally- from everything we enjoyed doing together. This video has brought me hope, and we're SO grateful you shared it. 🙏🏼
One question/request: is it available on another platform, like YouTube? I have researched both the creator and her website, but can't seem to find this specific video (or any other on this specific topic, unfortunately!) anywhere.
YouTube is my favorite platform, because I can open the app on my large flat screen TV in my living room, which is the *only* space in our tiny little cabin where I can exercise (and where all my workout supplies live.)
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you again! 🙏🏼 😊

@warriorboomer, we're glad to hear you found it helpful! We couldn't find the same video on YouTube, but we did find some other videos from Sami Mansfield there. It might be interesting to take a look and see if any of them are helpful.
You can also check out our Breastcancer.org YouTube channel for more helpful content and videos.
Hope this helps!

Not sure where to put this. I do go to the gym l have developed pain in my shoulder my doctor think it's a muscle issue and it might be related to my prosthetist. I do have large breasts and my prosthetists is heavy has anyone developed this issue. I thought I had done something excercising.

Does anyone know if vibration plates are okay for us metastatic cancer patients to use? I have been reading about all the positive benefits that can be gained by using them, including lymphatic drainage and bone strengthening. I just did not know if they are another one of those things that are good for most but not safe for cancer patients.

@cowgal Great question! Vibration plates do have benefits like circulation and bone support, but with mets (especially to the bones) there can be risks, like pain or even fractures. It really depends on where your mets are and your overall bone strength. Best bet is to check with your medical oncologist or PT (if you have one) before trying one, just to be safe. They may also be able to suggest safer alternatives for bone strength, mobility, or lymphatic support if a vibration plate isn’t recommended.
