BioZorb Recall

I want to let all of you know that have had a BioZorb implanted during your breast cancer surgery that the FDA has recently made a Class 1 Recall on the device. This is the most serious FDA Recall possible. Google BioZorb Recall, Hologic BioZorb recall, FDA BioZorb Recall and you will read a lot of information about the damage, pain and suffering this device has caused. I am having mine removed after 11 years next week. There is help out there you just have to take the steps necessary to help yourself. Please spread the word to as many as you can that the BioZorb Marker has been Recalled.

Welcome to our community, @nmcdaniel! We're glad you've found us, although we're sorry for the concerns that led you to our discussion boards.

Here are more details regarding the BioZorb recall.

  • How do you know if you have this?

Ideally, your surgeon should have discussed this with you before your lumpectomy, but I've spoken to a couple that did not know it was implanted until later. My notes from my surgery say a BioZorb marker was implanted.

@nmcdaniel - thank you for the update. I had seen this recall recently and meant to contact my surgeon but forgot. Appreciate the reminder.

  • I am just hearing about this recall. My biozorb was implanted in 3/2022. I've complained it hasn't dissolved, that it's causing pain, and is hard in my breast. All complaints were dismissed. Now I'm scared something worse is going to happen. I want it out now!

I just scheduled surgery to remove the recalled BioZorb marker on Monday, Jan 19. Not looking forward to more surgery and a bit worried about what my breast will look like after it's removed. Hoping for the best!

Had my BioZorb Marker removed on Monday, Jan 19. So glad to have it out! Follow up with the surgeon next week. She did call today to say pathology came back as negative. Not sure what my breast looks like yet. I get to take of the dressing tomorrow. Hopefully don't have to large of a divot. 🤞

I was just given the option to remove mine after repeatedly mentioning it was bothering me. I'm on the fence though about removing it or just getting a prophylactic mastectomy because I'm tired of the worry and figure one more surgery and done. Anybody else consider or take this route?
