Cross-posting here with the Liver Mets thread. (Still haven't completely caught up with this thread, but am following along, thinking of all of you - will update comments as I keep reading feel up to it.)
The pathology report from my liver biopsy just showed up in MyChart and it says that it is definitively metastasized breast cancer that they see. They say the samples test positive for estrogen receptors, but nothing is said about PR and HER status. From what I read online, it looks like they might test for that separately? I haven't heard from any providers yet, but again, the results just showed up. I will need to wait to hear from the oncologist and/or interventional radiologist for next steps. It looks like my oncologist will be out at least during the latter half of August as I am scheduled to see his substitute then for my routine follow-up. I'm supposed to see one of the nurse practitioners this Thursday for a routine palliative care appointment and my Faslodex shots. I imagine if nothing else, she will say something about all of this. Well none of the treatments that I'm aware of for this look pleasant in the least, and the few survival statistics I've seen so far look very dismal once it has spread to the liver like this. I guess I can still hope and keep my fingers crossed?

Three tree sorry to hear about your new Mets to liver. Maybe call the office to see if you can see the doctor Thursday? They may contact your doctor with the results as well. I think my doctor reads my scan results while I’m sitting in front of him. I usually already look at my chart after scans. Sending hugs. Cancer sucks.

Threetree I also remember Mel, who started this site got liver ablation and it worked really well. I think 8 years but maybe she’ll chime in if she’s able.

Hi to all in the room. Threetree, I'm sorry to hear this news. I know your mind goes to those dim places but I believe a number of posters on the liver mets thread will show they are doing well. Cookie, I'm sorry I mixed you up with someone else on clinical trials. My brain, she are no good. Goldens, belated happy birthday. I hope it was a great one. Mara, you really have great thinking and cooking skill set. Beans with so much protein are such a great source. Rice and beans are one of my fav side dishes, just add ground burger and salsa and it's a home run. One of the few dishes I still cook, heat the oven to 350. Place sweet potatoes that are precooked, black beans, salmon (thawed in fridge) on top of sweet potatoes and black beans, havarreti cheese wrapped around salmon and pineapple rings or chunks on top. Pour the pineapple juice overtop of dish to your liking. Ready in 30 to 40 minutes.
For the sake of situation with sister, we finally spoke last night. She denied saying those awful words, said I must have misunderstood that she called be a "drama addict". Hmm, ain't buying it especially because she didn't ask about my personal health even once and said it was a great talk that I didn't bring her down with my situation. So I just have to accept her stance, stay on guard and move on. Wish I had more friends. I am sorry that some of family members just don't get it and seems like they don't want to try. We will just have to join that "I don't give a damn group". I love it…
Eleanora, Regarding diverticulitis, augmentin for 10 days, at 850 mg, twice a day. I can't recall the name of the dietary restrictions plan, but basically it's chicken, bland food, no fried food, mashed potatoes, rice, sourdough bread and eggs. It's a miserable condition and I suspect caused by meds.
My daughter picked me up to go to dinner and Dollar Tree. It's been at least a year since we've had girl time and it was wonderful. Stocked up on large bottles of water at $2.00 (I think it's gallon jugs). I really enjoy shopping for cards, crafts and seasonal items at that store. Found stick on wall paper for $1.25 sheet and it's beautiful. We put one piece up and not sure it might be too fussy. So last night I bought a different, soft green with white mini flowers. We will paper one wall in my room and put bead board the last 4 ft. Already did some touch up on wall cabinet that was plain with this same paper. Gotta be careful or my room will look like Blanche's room (from Golden Girls). lol
In pockets for all my sweet friends.

@tanya_djamila - Thank you so much for the very helpful comments. I don't know about getting in touch with the office or not, since the results just showed up. I usually see them before they do, but I will think about that option some more. I'm not sure that all of the results are in actually, because all that is there is the confirmation that it is cancer - no extra info of the nature the oncologist told me he was wanting to get, so I'll wait a little longer for maybe a little more? Thanks for mentioning Mel's situation, and how successful she was with the ablation - that's a real motivation for me, right there.
Hello to Mel, if you're reading at all, and Tanya - hugs right back to you!

Threetree, I am very sorry to hear about the cancer in your liver, in your pocket for what comes ahead. Try not to move past today and see what comes ahead day by day and minute by minute. That is hard to do but you can do it. Listen to music, watch movies and do your regular routine as much as possible and make your way through appointments. Of course you can keep your fingers crossed. We are in pockets crossing our fingers for you. Remember that stuff online, even if current may not apply to your specific situation, your response to anything else they do could be different to. SE can probably be managed. I agree, see if you can seee the doctor earlier.
Irish, that sounds really good, never had havarti cheese and honestly never had seafood beyond the battered variety. What you are describing sounds delicious. I still have not done much with my own canned potatoes, be easy enough to drain and most likely chop up. I will think about how to transfer your recipe to my own supplies I have here. As far as your sister, there are people who will never understand and if maintaining a relationship, hard to say if she won't try because she is scared of losing you. Joining the I don't give a damn sounds like a good place to be, talk to us, see if there are groups IRL you could join, just for more people to socialize with. It may help.
I slept OK as usual, we are going to get into some hot and humid weather, oh well, just summer in southwestern Ontario.
Getting left over dishes left to soak rinsed and dried. Almost done, will send warm water down the drains to keep chear. I have some cleaning as well and will one of the tabs to clean the toilet from the tank and one of the gel cleaners as well. I do like the green gobbler sticks to keep a drain fresh, worked well in the bathtub drain, kitchen drain and bathroom sink.
I also have a TON of laundry, beyond what the two bigger machines can handle so pulling out all the machines, even the little ones, they do no consume too much power and can run on the floor. They will take care of my clothes and some of the cloths. I have some tiny pills on a newer shirt which is annoying, have to fabric shave it once dry. I turned the shirt inside out but oh well. I will attempt a shaver to remove or minimize them. Started one of 3 smallest washers doing my shirt, next one will hold a few cloths, same with the other two. Once those are done spin them dry and hang or dry. May also pull out heated drying rack to do my clothes and dry them faster, I will see how I am feeling about that. Once spun, the take maybe an hour to dry, less wear and tear from the tumble dryer on the clothes.
I am unsure what I wish to have. I could fry up a hamburger and chop it up, keep in fridge and combine beans, rice and other things like eggs and cheese. That is always an option, still have the frozen chicken dogs as well, they of course can be chopped into cheese and added to rice and beans. Option 2 uses a rice OR KD type of breakfast. Make the KD, subbing sour cream instead of milk. Could make a full box of KD and store in the fridge as a side. Could use part of a box and use different seasoning, setting aside the cheese for other purposes. I will post what I decide to have. May mix up beans with the rice and an egg.
Also had played enough mobile games for cash had 5.98 that gave me enough for free chipotle mayo as there were no more chipotle bean fiesta available. It arrives tomorrow.
Hoping every has a good day, in pockets for all who need me as well, in my own to finish up the laundry.

I decided to fry up a burger and used my spatula as a meat masher, I do plan to add an egg to the pan with some chopped beans and some rice, under 1/4 cup worth. Add some garlic and other seasonings to the pan and then just let all the flavours in, leaving the grease from the burger to cook up and add flavour to other ingredients. I am thinking a mostly garlic type of vibe but who knows what else I may decide to add.
I also decided it would be easier to mash beans in a bowl with a cup vs always chopping them up. So would be having the frozen burger, rice, an egg, beans and the rice, all heat up together with plenty of garlic and turn off burner.

Threetree - joining our sisters here in pocket duty for you. I’m so sorry about your progression. I love Mara’s recommendation about staying focused on today. I know that’s hard to do but I hope you can find some peace of mind every day. Hugs 🤗
3 -
@mara51506 - Thanks so much for your comments and being in my pocket. I think your suggestions about how to better handle all of this are spot on - a bit easier said than done, but that is the solution; just taking what comes day by day, minute by minute, and trying to do and focus on routine things in the here and now. I did do that a little bit this morning and just did some routine errands to the dry cleaners and the store. It did help to get out and have the drive and to just focus on regular things. It helped distract quite a bit, plus I always love to look at all the yards and plants and things as I drive around. Had some nice little "small talk" with the lady at the cleaners, drove a little different route to the store, just to see a few different things, and then took a "long way" home just to stay out of the apartment for awhile longer and enjoy the drive. On a whole 'nother note, I have had Havarti cheese and it's really good, especially on things like turkey or chicken sandwiches. Give it a go for sure.
@goldensrbest - I so appreciate your nice thoughts and pocket duty! I think Mara's recommendations are perfect, and I'm going to try to keep all that in mind over the next while - until I wrap my head around this all a bit more. I am going to see the nurse practitioner tomorrow, when I get my Faslodex shots (yuck) - she might be filling in for the oncologist, but I usually see her routinely too, just for general follow-up. I'll see if she has anything of note to add to all of this. I'm still thinking that some more info should be coming from the pathologist too, that might shed a bit more light on things. We shall see.

@threetree So sorry to hear about liver progression. Echoing the suggestions of one day, one step and one minute at a time.It sounds so easy but we all know it can be quite difficult at times. Glad to hear you were able to distract yourself for a bit today. In your overflowing pocket of support for tomorrow. I hope you're able to get more information to calm your mind a little.Sending you hugs, love and positive vibes❤️
@irishlove No worries at all, it's hard to keep all this info straight for sure! Glad you were able to talk it over with your sister. Hopefully she will try to be more in tune with what your daily life is like! Nice that your having some fun decorating, your comments are a crack up…love it!
@mara51506 Sounds like you always manage to get a nice high protein dinner. Hope you had a productive laundry day.
@shanagirl Thinking of you, hope your having some pain free days.

Hello all the lovely ladies here tonight. Threetree, please know I'm sending out prayers (if accepted) and hope that you will find peace of mind when you meet with health care folks. I just know they will beat this back, especially since your systemic treatment has been working so well. Distraction sure does help. When I put my hands into the soil to garden, it feels like a promise of tomorrow. When I watch a great story, nothing interrupts my brain. Of course I might just have a one track mind, but hey can't argue with what works. We are all here in your corner holding you close in our thoughts.
Mara, the butcher told me about the different types of salmon and the cost factor. He said that the less pricey salmon usually has some fine bones in the tail area, but just as tasty as the expensive brand. I cheat and use canned sweet potatoes, but canned small red potatoes sounds like a good substitute to me. Since I can remember we've eaten Shepherd's Pie. Some make it with fish, potatoes and carrots. We make ours with ground burger (seasoned to your liking, I use onion powder and pepper), fried till no pink shows, mashed potatoes and cream style corn. . Layer the drained, cooked, ground beef, then spread creamed corn over top and then lastly, spread the mashed potatoes. We put butter and parsley on top of the potatoes. Bake in oven 375 degrees for 45-50 minutes.
Cookie, thanks for forgiving me. Cure-ious posts such important updates about clinical trials and I can't keep each thread straight anymore.
Here's a story that I hope leaves all with a laugh. I had my MRI today and the nurse was assisting me in laying down. Just as she lifted my legs to put a pillow under them, well I gave the longest and loudest "toot", probably on record. I was so embarrassed and apologized profusely. She pretended she didn't hear it, but I think she left the area quickly to get some lysol spray. LOL… I blamed the cafeteria for the situation, as I ate a slightly greasy burger. I don't usually eat greasy burgers, but oh it looked good and tasted good. And besides I only ate half, gave the other half to DH. Hmm, wonder if the exam room would have exploded from gas if I had eaten the whole thing?
8 -
Irish, that definitely sounds like my Mom's shepherd's pie for sure. Admittedly I was a really picky eater as a younger person. Would not touch a veggie to save my life. I would eat croutons and bacon bits and put Catalina dressing on and call that meal. I could eat around beans in chile and my mom did not tell me fries were made from potatoes. She was sure I would get scurvy. As time went on, I did eat more veggies and the shepherd's pie too. Ha, the toot is funny, oh I am sure they hear it all too, as long as you enjoyed your meal, that is all that was important. Far as the gas, nobody has anything on me with toots. Could it be the beans? 🤭
@cookie54 , the meal was very good when I had it and I enjoyed it too, was a process but worth it. Tomorrow, getting chipotle mayo, free and is coming today, I can use that with stuff until the fiesta beans with mild chipotle come back to Amazon.
3 -
Well, DB coming tonight, let him reach out first and will see them both. Need to put brakes on buying too much, need tea mostly, do not need condiments or anything like that and no chips or queso needed at this point. I may check on the black bean situation but nothing even close to a full order. Got 74.00 rewards for paying my rent on my card that could be used for groceries as well, I will have to see.
Got laundry on the go, my goodness it adds up quickly, got the repaired washer on the go first and the second one will go. I am noticing the smaller repaired washer really does not hold much more than the 20 dollar washers. Oh well, it still works and the newest one still has the biggest tub and more agitation in the spin dryer part.
Not too sure about food, something eggs, beans and cheese and rice sound pretty good, chopping cheese and beans up, throw on a sprayed pan with some garlic spread and a little of the caesar. Option two still involves rice, beans, cheese and egg but also features a mini pot pie, preheated and crushed up, add all same stuff in the pan as well. I will likely eat soon though just got up.
I just got up so need to stay on top of chores, no rushing is needed on my part.
I hope everyone has a great day and in pockets for all who need me.

@cookie54 - Thanks so much for the sympathies; they are very appreciated. I do think the one step at a time is the way to go, and I'm going to give it my best shot. I do appreciate all the support from everyone here (the "overflowing pocket" as you say), and am taking everyone's nice thoughts and comments with me to my appointments this afternoon. I am hoping for some more information. They did say that the liver samples have estrogen receptors, so would be ER+. They didn't mention PR or HER, and no new info has come through MyChart. I'm wondering if that means there's just an assumption then that the PR and HER are negative? I'll be sure to ask about that and a lot more a little later.
@irishlove - Thanks so much for all the good thoughts and sending out of prayers (re your "if accepted" I absolutely accept prayers from those who are really serious about and them and really believe in them, but not from those who want to cram any of their personal religion onto me or others.) I'm kinda/sorta religious, and kinda/sorta agnostic, and the religion I have is a real eclectic hodge-podge of all sorts of things from looking to "the universe" for answers and offering vibes, to appreciating certain saints and what they stand for, to Buddhist and Hindu sorts of things, meditation (which is universal), to loving traditional old medieval church music and traditional ritual a la Anglicanism and Catholicism - if that makes any sense at all. I think all of it has something to offer and let us ponder, while being comforting at the same time. I like to think we are all looking for the same thing in the end, and that there are many means to that end, depending on how, where, and when we grow up, what we read, explore on our own, our life experiences, and so much more. (Well, had no idea I'd be going off on all that, but there it is.) Also, I just love Shepherd's Pie, but don't think I've ever had it with fish. Sounds really good. Haven't had any for a long time - makes me think about looking around for some, as I'm not about to cook it. I also agree that @cure-ious really makes some very good and informative posts about all sorts of good stuff.
I also wanted to mention earlier how much I feel for you re your relationship with your sister. I am so sorry about the situation. I have a sister too and we don't speak - not anything I will go into here, but it's just one of those things that some of us have to accept and know that we've tried beyond all reason and that there is just nothing more we can do. I do hope however, that things improve.
@mara51506 - Glad you will be seeing your brother and sister-in-law. I hope you all have a real nice time together!
Well I guess I better finish my tea and start getting ready for the doctor's office, the NP, and those damn shots.
Have a really good day everybody!

@threetree It will be nice to see them for sure, it's been a while but things get busy or I get tired. He went through a LONG work week last week, 12 and 16 hour days. I certainly would not ask to be driven around then. Reminded myself that DB and SIL owe me exactly nothing and they still reach out, I should not feel bad if I do not see them for a week or three.
I could not decide what to have so ordered Mc D, mcdouble, junior chicken and ordered some condiments like mac sauce, spicy habenoro, a couple of the chicken nugget sauces and garlic mayo. Trying out some of the spicy ones as well. Picked up a couple butters too. Got a new thing to make for the freezer some buffalo chicken stuff, drumsticks, another salad type thing. I think I will put portions in the fridge and freeze otherwise, big bag of doritos, like to use that as a crunch, more cheese, big box of tea and a large jar of peanut M&Ms. My grocery haul was 10.00 off and used my card that pays the rent which had 70.00 in rewards for doing that. Made the grocery order 12.00 with the savings. 40 dollars at costco. Not too bad.

OK, first and only meal today was gross, no doubt about it. Too many ingredients and the idea of saving butter in water was dumb. I thought oh, it will be better run eggs and beans in the magic bullet and put in a pan. That was gross. I also think all the other stuff put in wound up with too much fat, not enough protein as evidenced by a super loose stool. The taste was also not bad but off just a bit. Throwing out the rest, taking immodium and just going to knock off the weird stuff. Will continue with beans and rice and make sure the protein count is higher, make an egg tortilla wrap with the fully formed egg. I need to get back to using my mini griddles to make up eggs or other stuff and eat more sensibly. I am also not sure if the noodles themselves were the source of the offputting flavour. May order stuff from Walmart and get rid of the soup noodles as I do not need to eat such cheap stuff as I largely blame them for the flavour. Piling on the condiments was also a fail. Thinking fewer condiments at a time, proper eggs, eggs and beans with rice, those should be my go to. I joined walmart delivery plus as they were offering a year for 40 dollars. Thinking some of the frozen noodles might be better. Was able to crack an egg on top and add peppers and greens to the top. I may oder more in the next few days but no room in fridge at the moment. Still got frozen hamburgers, chicken dogs and proper rice to fill out meals. Lots of stuff for more quesadillas.
Cooking was a fail today but there is always tomorrow.

@mara51506 Sorry your meals were a bust. Sometimes I too just miss on making the best flavor of things as I am all self-taught. I order from Walmart now too and it has really been a good idea. Actually, after one year I switched to Kroger as they built a new, huge store down the street from the Walmart here. Unlike Walmart, Kroger doesn't charge for bags and they have their own refrigerated delivery trucks so everything stays cold, and you do not tip the driver. Here, Walmart uses a delivery service, like Uber Eats, so you have to tip. I wish we were like Canada and you don't tip everyone. lol The actual food costs are very close, and there are a few brands I prefer at Kroger I can't get at Walmart. I found when I went grocery shopping that by the time I got close to the end of my shopping list I would be too exhausted to take my time and make good decisions. Of course, I do think in-person is better, but for me it is worth it.
I am really trying to increase our protein consumption too. I used to cook all the dinner meals for the four of us, but just this week my DD has agreed that she would cook the three nights a week for her and her daughter on days she doesn't need to go to work (she works nights as a nurse.) So far it has really been a help.
I do read your recipe ideas and a couple of times I made some adjustments to how I was cooking something thanks to you.
I hope the weather cools and the smoke clears for all.
3 -
@intolight Thankfully, Walmart delivery isn't giving me their recycled bags but paper bags which can be recycled when I get a delivery. When shopping with DB, bring my own bags. I also use them to store extra dish towels or snacks by hanging up on racks which is good. As far as tipping, I usually have enough to take the amount of tip off the card with points earned by shopping so I can live with that.
I have a light load of cloths going, almost ran out of them so keeping up as needed, they are in one of the smallest washers. It was so bad last night, just spun them dry and put them in the box I store them in. Cannot let stuff pile up like that.
Sweeping et all of the house chores will happen, some budget boosting possibly with a game. I am sure there is something I could order at Amazon. I have been decent at getting stuff free with gift cards I earn from the rewards sites when I play the games. If I see something I want. Otherwise, buy extra cat supplies, litter and food and pay on my Amazon card and put on interest free payments until the next time they are needed.
I am planning to make up at least one of the frozen chicken drumsticks, they come with honey garlic sauce, may or may not use that or a small amount of my stuff. I also realize that when using rice, can put anything including an egg on top, same as the frozen meal. Microwave and if I feel it warrants it, take a pan, spray with cooking spray and season up, who knows. First meal will be an egg and cheese tortilla. Use one of my mini griddles, poke yolk then take a tortilla that was lightly toasted and make a sandwich or quesadilla, I am not sure yet. Option 2 has me take the leftovers of the meal yesterday and make a quesadilla out of it with garlic on the tortilla with additional cheese. It already has eggs and beans in it and I can work the taste. Could also add some of the chicken drumstick too. Again, will be posting once I decide.
I do hope all have a good day and am in pockets for all including myself to get everything I want to do done.

Decided to start with 3 chicken wings, 1/4 cup rice and one egg. This time put the egg in with rice, stirred around a bit, turned off heat and let it sit. The wings are presently in the breville at 400 for 35 mins. Could not use the honey garlic stuff so will probably do caesar dressing with a hint of the garlic mayo from Mcdonalds and package up in air tight container. Nothing too crazy and think there is enough protein. Later, do the thing with the tortilla or just use peanut butter.
The 3 chicken wings were done in the oven as noted above, the rice and egg turned out well and I used some garlic parm mayo and a bit of caesar dressing. Not much of either, dash of salt and it was a good meal. I enjoyed it quite a bit. I will likely tryout the honey garlic sauce later when it defrosts in the fridge. Chicken wings themselves were perfect to the point I chewed every piece of meat off the bone, rest is in the freezer but it was really very good. The egg turned out well in the rice as well. Could probably add other stuff to the rice and steam like cheese, peppers and other veg. Just not overload.
Got a tube of ground beef so plan to combine the cooked beef, let cool and add beans to it with some rice. Give me a lot of protein just doing that much. Lentils can be used as well. Gives me options to make different things like part of the soft taco dinner bake, beef being mixed with beans gives me nutrition. Could also add some beef/bean or lentil combo to an egg and regular rice as well. I am also thinking could have a peanut butter and beef quesadilla dipping in some garlic or chipotle. I also bought a meat masher so I can mash beef and potatoes or what ever needs to be mashed up. 15 bucks from Amazon but within my budget. Figure it may make some meals easier or save me chopping up in my chopper by using just the one tool. arrives Monday. I am debating a grocery order but think I will push it out further toward the end of the month to give myself a chance to use up stuff in both the fridge and freezer. Fridge looks much more organized than it did before the food got spoiled when the fridge would not close, eggs on one level, condiments in the door, sour cream on top and containers that stop. Freezer still full so need to move on with the veggies in freezer.

I certainly slept in today, did go to bed very late too, seems to be my pattern to go to bed late and sleep in. Need to scale it back this week as I have a CT scan on Saturday which is weird but not a problem.
Got a little laundry and garbage to haul over for pick up tonight. I want to empty the container in house and also bring over at least one bag from outside. I will see. Need to dust and sweep as well. Not really feeling outside as it is in the 100s with the heat and humidity. On the plus side, home is comfortable.
I put a pound of ground beef from the freezer into the fridge, planning to put it together with rice and possibly beans. Give me a good base to stretch out my meals and easy to eat up. I know it has about 5 days to survive once heated up but I am looking forward to it. Still got chicken dogs and frozen burgers as well. I did buy the 39.00 walmart delivery service for a year so it makes it easy to order even if once a month or so. I may also add some lentils to the ground beef mix as well. Would make a lot of good meals.
Edit, although I put the ground beef in the fridge to thaw, it was still partially frozen, had a heck of a time getting out of its package. Finally got it out and it was starting to cook but I could not break it up, decided to turn off heat and put a lid on for a bit, go back and see if the heat makes it more amenable to being chopped up. I will see after 10 mins or so. Certainly gives off plenty of grease, not going to try and use that for anything so will clean up with a cloth, no paper towel, then soak that towel in a bowl of baking soda, dish soap and a bit of water and use the smaller washer to wash it up. I did soak up the grease with a regular towel, plugged the sink and just have baking soda all over the towel to help pick up the grease, leave it couple hours and then take a smaller washer with some dish soap and that should pick up the rest of the grease. The meat was not lean ground beef and some people save the grease but I am not one of them. The trick with leaving the beef in the warm pan to help thaw did work and was able to use my spatula to break it up, once it is cool enough, will put it in a container and add some white rice and beans to the container. It should give several meals from that.
I did enjoy how I did my eggs and rice yesterday, cooked them at the same time in a small pot, egg heated through with the steam from the boiling water, debating doing that again but with meat and cheese behind it and some beans as well. I can choose beans, lentils or both. So many possibilities. I will post what I come up with.
In pockets for all who need me, in own pocket as I need to do laundry and chores and take out a bunch of garbage, some of which is outside. The food I had to toss when fridge got warm it still out there but was triple bagged so probably does not even stink. Need to make several trips out to get stuff out.

Holy mackerel, had a heck of a time opening a can of beans. The automatic opener seems to be on the fritz and the manual was being a pill, finally got it open thank goodness, took a lot of deep breaths not to get super frustrated. The beans are a chili bean variety, dumped in the whole can as the sauce has a nice flavour. Once I recover, will get started. I did get the pound of meat cooked up, once cool, added 1/2 cup of rice and the can of beans to it. I plan to have an egg and cheese and heat in my pan. Most grease is gone due to wiping with a towel. Not sure how I am seasoning, may go for more of a garlic flavour OR make it a more mexican flavour with ome queso and sour cream with cheese added. I have doritos I can use too. I will see.
Edit, OMG that meal was delicious. Between the beef, rice and beans combo with the chili sauce from the can to start with, it was wonderful. I took a couple of spoonfuls of the bean, beef and rice mix, put in a steel pot with an egg and cheese and just heated up the burner, did a couple of spoon mixes, turned off the burner, lid on. Let it cool, spooned it out, added bit of garlic salt, not too much as it is more spicy, put some chips in and some plain sour cream. Between the chili sauce from the beans, garlic, chips and sour cream, it was a mouth bomb of deliciousness.
Pros The bean rice and beef with beans combo and stored in the fridge will be great to create meals. I am looking forward to more food combos. I also realize the time to use this stuff is around
Only con for me was difficulty opening the can of beans and the grease from the beef, it was a bit much. I will see how the laundry comes out. Soaked the towel that removed most of the grease in baking soda and dish soap, will be washing tonight.

I took 3 bags out of my bin right outside the back door, tossed them down the stairs and took them to where garbage is picked up. I have two more bags to go, if I am tired, they can go into the bin out back, right outside the door. If I have the energy, can toss them down the stairs again but I will see. Only goal I have is to get my rubbermaid tote that ocntains garbage indoors emptied. I have til 8pm. If it feels late, put the bags from today out back. I will decide later as a break is in order.
At the end of the day I managed to empty the box out back that I kind of claimed as where I put bags. I did take all bags out of the bin and did make up an extra bag of litter. All triple bagged as they were tossed down the stairs. Nothing ripped up and my personal bin is empty now. I figure that I will continue to use it since it is right outside the door and keep stuff there as needed. Four large bags taken without assistance or help from anyone. Even gave up the cane so I had two hands available.
Now working on the greasy towel, being washed after soaking in baking soda. Using dishsoap first and then will rinse and wash normally

Hey everyone reading, I know it is busy out there. Still going to post. Am in pockets for tests etc and hope to hear results of different tests and treatments going on. I have a CT scan on Saturday afternoon, need to consult about results appointment
I slept pretty well, up earlier which is good. It is very hot and humid but want to don the had and fans and do some walks around a small block later, just need to move my body I think without being too reckless. Use the cooling tools and it should be fine.
I have a bit of laundry to do, will blow dust out of where it is hiding and get it vacuumed up as well. Boring but needs to be done. I left the greasy towel which had been soaked in baking powder first to absorb the grease and then put in the wash with a microscopic amount of dish soap. I will rinse that out and just do a normal laundry on it. I have a washer going and the smallest washer going after clearing some dirt, the cloth needs a wash. Tigger my cat is overseeing the wash, he loves sitting on the washer since it is warm. I decided to move the bulk of the small washers in the tub, I keep them flattened and the connector flipped up and it makes the linen closet look neater.
Food today will feature the wonderful bean, rice and beef mix I made up yesterday but involve eggs along the way or quesadilla of the mix. I am thinking a good amount of cheese added to it would be good. I am happy to have discovered other beans that came with shili sauce, it gives the flavour I am enjoying. The beef is good too but far too greasy, may have to eat the cost of the beefless ground because the grease is something else from the ground beef. I will see about that or buy something that is more lean next time I shop. The mild bean fiesta with mild chipotle is a thing of the past BUT no problem using the spicy stuff and mix it in some sour cream to mild it out. I will post later what I decide to eat.
I do hope people have a good day and in pockets for anyone who needs me.
Edit, just dug out my hospital schedule, busy month or so, echo and CT scan this week. Normal chemo next week then a doctor appointment for results of the CT scan. MO must be confident in my results being normal as well since it is more than a month after the CT. Not going to worry about it because neck down has been stable or NED since 2015 with Herceptin and rads. Then will have my MRI later and see RO, I am not concerned about that either, nothing feels off so I don't the the blood pool is being an issue and brain seems to be fine.. I will be concerned if I am given bad results. I am aware of changes that could happen, sticking with how I feel instead. Cannot afford to add scanxiety for myself because I have to really work at not being so highly strung over stuff. Like today when I checked my mail, I noticed my trash had not been picked up, phoned the city but something told me to double check the schedule. Yesterday I thought was monday. I wondered why my soap was not on so when I saw garbage not picked up and my street was clear, I phoned the city. Once I checked the schedule and date, I felt silly but phoned the city back and admitted my mistake. I did not bring the bags back, leaving them out for the day as it was already a real effort to get them out.

I have noticed an increase in beef prices here in Canada, I am sure that is similar to US prices increasing as well. I did find a 3 pack of lean ground beef, if I use up more meat, will take the frozen burgers and stretch them out or keep an eye out for for the 10 dollar 3 pack of just under a pound tubes of ground beef. Option 2, have the chicken dogs I like so much, heat up a couple, mashthem up and add rice and beans to those as well if needing to keep budget under more control. I can still stretch everything out with chili beans as I love those and use some rice too. Resisting the shopping urge until there is more room in freezer, fridge still looks good to me with how I arranged it, everything easy to find. Keeping fresh greens frozen until ready to use, pull out night before to thaw for salad.

@mara51506 Hey there How’s your day going? Your beef bean mix sounds delicious, glad you’re enjoying it! No worries we all get mixed up on our days sometimes . That was sweet of you to call back to say you made a mistake. Most people wouldn’t have, your a sweetheart and thoughtful. Busy week ahead for you with appointments and we will be in your pocket for stable results. Ugh sorry humidity has returned, we are still enjoying some beautiful days in NJ.

@cookie54 My day is going well, enjoyed the bean, beef, rice and added an egg and cheese to the mix today. It was very good and I enjoyed it very much. Probably have a couple more meals I can add the mix to before running out.
I have also been hot in the house today even with air on and waited til the end of the day almost to pull out my cooling stuff. I have my hip fan blowing on my face and my evaporative headband on. Did not even clue in enough to pull it out. Oh well, nice and comfy now.

Mara Checking in on ya, you still dealing with humidity? It's been pretty swampy here all day, we have a storm brewing now. We can certainly use the rain that's for sure. I waited to water my flowers so hopefully we get a good soaking! Pretty quiet day, I made a chocolate chip banana bread this morning and visited my mil this afternoon.
HI to all here ,hope your having a peaceful night.

@cookie54, it is a little less humid than it was but still pretty hot which really puts the kibosh on walking outdoors even with all the protection like neck fan and the like. I know come september, there will be less humid days, even if they are warm The chocolate chip banana bread sounds scrumptious. I do hope that you got that soaking you were waiting for.
Supposed to be sunny here again, I cannot believe it is Thursday again, got my Echo tomorrow and CT scan on Saturday afternoon and Herceptin next Wednesday. I have been going to bed earlier for a few days since I have to get up earlier. If I go out with DB, need to go to bed anyway. No idea if going though, will wait to hear from him.
Laundry and cat area are on the agenda, not too many cloths but enough. Using the smaller washer that I had to repair. My bathtub is full of washing machines but I love it.
Always am trying to figure out food I want to eat. It's like when family and friends ask each other what do you want for dinner except these are the thoughts in my head, I do want to finish that bean and rice mix that I have. I have some greens to finish up, the bag was smelly after defrosting but they were fine yesterday when I added to my beans. Debating an egg quesadilla but want to pre cook the egg in the mini griddle first, add a spoonful of the bean and rice mix. Tortilla will have garlic spread on it so precooked egg on garlic tortilla, spoonful of the bean, beef and rice mix and fold over. Dip in caesar dressing. Later may make up an egg and cooked pot pie, mash everything with my meat masher and just heat up in more garlic in the steel pan. I will post if much different meals occur.
Hope all have a good day, looking forward to hearing about appointments as well and in pockets for all.

@mara51506 Yea I have no desire to walk outside when it's humid. . I switch to my youtube workouts or treadmill. Cmon September, love the Fall! We did get a good heavy rain so no watering needed today.Appointments certainly seem to clump together but I think I like it that way because then I get some time off. Hope you get out with DB this week to catch up. I have some Amazon returns today which I drop off at Kohl's which is very convenient. We had an upgrade with Verizon for our cellphone's so I bought a couple of cases to see what we liked. Anyhow glad that is done , always such a debacle with the phones.. It's much easier than years ago but can be a pia getting everyone settled. Egg quesadilla sounds delish, enjoy. Getting ready to take Buster on a short walk as it's too hot for him for the usual walk. Have a great day!
