Tamoxifen, acne, and otherwise dry aging skin
Hi all, new to the forums and posting for the first time.
I'm Medicare-aged and started my final treatment phase of 3 years of 5mg daily "baby" tamoxifen a few months ago, and I'm now dealing with new persistent pimples which I'm convinced are related.
I've been post-menopausal for over a decade now, so my primary skin concern for the last 10 years has been excessive dryness. Everything I remember using to fight acne when I had it back in the Jurassic Period, like benzoyl peroxide, was very drying, and I'd like to find an approach that will zap the pimples without turning the rest of my face into sandpaper. Would love to hear what worked for others similarly situated!

Hi @bratschegirl, and welcome to our Breastcancer.org community!
We're so sorry for the reasons that bring you here, but we're so glad you've found us. You're sure to find this space a wonderful source of advice, information, encouragement, and support — we're all here for you!
While you wait for helpful responses from our members, we wanted to point you to this page on our site on managing menopausal skin changes — where we mention the following:
"Since your skin is thinner and drier after menopause, teenage acne treatments can be too harsh and drying, which can make acne worse. Instead, wash with a cleanser that has salicylic acid in it. This helps unclog your pores without irritating your skin."
We hope this helps and that you get some support here soon!

So far, can confirm excellent results from CeraVe Acne Control Gel with 2% salicylic acid. I'm only using it on the small areas where the acne is occurring, but it started clearing noticeably in just a day without creating any excessive dryness.
