irishlove, if you think you have strep throat, do not self treat. You need to be on antibiotics specific to strep and most likely for 10 days. It is a nasty bug and improper treatment can lead to serious consequences involving other body systems. Please seek medical help.

    @irishlove

I second others' comments about getting the right meds for strep. I know it's exhausting. I am finally on the way to recovery after a 5 month bout with diverticulitis that included 4 emergency room visits, multiple doctor visits and 14 days of IV antibiotics to finally resolve it.

So sorry you had to cancel your trip, but glad you're already planning the next one. I find that having something to look forward to greatly improves my state of mind. Congrats on your husband's improvement.

Hello midnight and any late night owls still around? I absolutely can not do mornings anymore. Not sure what I can do to change that, so I just schedule afternoon doctor appts.

Thanks all for input on what might be strep throat? Maybe I should mention that I have a UTI, courtesy of MS and am on Cephalexen. Hoping that will clean up this throat and UTI. I say strep but it hasn't been tested. Not sure about how each of you react to antibiotics, but I do have problems with them. The Z-pak, doxicycline and amoxa-clavin and sulfa-based drugs, create severe nausea and vomiting. Even taken with food. Cipro is a huge NO. Tendonitis tore my poor feet up . Side effects have reported ruptured tendons from Cipro. Cephalexen is my go to. Grandma had us swish one part warm water to one part hydrogen peroxide for sore throats when we were kids. I promise I will see PCP if I develop fever or this does not clear.

DD and DGD are here since Thanksgiving. So I put on my I feel fine face, and cooked some crock pot meals for the whole crew. DD's hubby came by (they've separated) after work, so had enough for him, too. Nothing like a roast with carrots and small baby potatoes and with leftovers I would add diced tomatoes, chop up the beef and add beef broth and Dales low sodium seasoning. Don't forget frozen mixed veggies and it's a good soup.

Not to make anyone jealous, but DH turned the pool heater on and I got out of my sick bed to climb in. It was lovely. I miss my family terribly at Christmas time, but not the ice and bitterly cold temps. A little snow is lovely.

We had laid peel on/off wallpaper on the one bedroom wall. It looks so pretty. But…. ever remembering calling Grandma and ask what she was doing? Well she would say "Just sitting here watching the wallpaper peel". And fast forward 50 years later and that's what I'm doing. I think I'm gonna just take it down. The walls must have some dampness to them or humidity might be the problem.

In pockets for all your needs.

@goldensrbest - Sounds like a wonderful time over Thanksgiving. I always appreciate the doggie photos - thanks so much for this one.

@mara51506 - What an ordeal! I can't believe how resourceful you are all by yourself, and how you manage to keep your cool when things happen to you. I'd be a wreck. So glad you are OK.

Mara so scary. You are very resourceful to be able to move on your back and get comfortable. I echo everyone else in keep your phone nearby. I’m pretty sure the watch can make a call and wouldn’t take remembering to carry it.

Golden thanks for the snowy puppy picture. I hope you enjoy your party this evening.

blood vessel broke in my eye. It’s happened before and was nothing. I checked my bp and it’s 126/65 so I think I’ll just wait and see with this.

    Take care all

I slept quite well but still quite sick. I don't feel particularly bad but still have the productive cough and little voice. Taking the expectorant in the day, help get rid of the productive chest but beyong just meds and water to hydrate, adding honey to medicine time to hopefully get the throat to the point I can talk. I am also rinsing sinuses as well.

My budget smart watch is coming today, only thing I want from that is the ability to call own phone, once I feel better, look into a life alert vibe. SIL says I can get one free, will look into it and how to apply post sickness. Cats are also getting a new treat to try out, a combo of chicken, beef and catnip flavour.

Nothing outstanding on the agenda, checking fridge as I put a couple of frozen things in back of fridge so need to heat them up. No idea what meal will come about. I do have to say, air fryer cleans up very well, soaked half hour from yesterdays delicious honey garlic chicken thighs and crispy lentils. Came totally clean easily. I also want to actually try using my mini grill for a frozen burger to have an extra ingredient to make different meals.

Laundry and a sweep, been using a cane around house, not really feeling necessity, also watching feet as I am stepping over the stepbench. My voice hoarseness was caused by me screaming for help, not the cold I figure. Treating voice with extra fluids like water and tea. I did have to use the phone and the guy could hear me but still quite hoarse. Adding honey to the mix when taking meds has helped a lot. Texted DB and SIL birthday wishes vs calling. Would like more of a voice by Wednesday.

If I make anything really good will post it, for now just having some macaroni and beef noodles, they are simple and good may have an egg sandwich later.

I hope everyone has a really good day and for anyone struggling, in pockets and in pockets for all.

@mara51506 Sorry to hear of your fall and sickness, glad you are feeling a little better. Agree you have to do what works and you feel comfortable doing! You can always adjust plans etc later after you speak with disability. The important thing is that you feel safe. Hope you feel better with each passing day.

@goldensrbest Awww adorable doggie pic glad she likes the snow! Buster loves the snow too, we"ll see if we get any measurable amount this year.Sounds like you had a fabulous Thanksgiving and bonus with quick travels. In your pocket for MR's this week🤞

@tanya_djamila Fingers crossed that the broken blood vessel is nothing.

@intolight Glad the roads are clear for you to get to your party, how was it? Dotto, God Bless all firefighters. Amazing and valiant people.♥️

All ok here, hoping for a quiet week! Wishing all a peaceful night.

Lunch was decided, put a frozen beef burger in the air fryer, mini grill too small for it, added rest of lentils in as well, put some garlic, 1 tsp and added dash of salt and sour cream, my idea is just eat meat and lentil together, no need for ground beef, just need a burger flip. Next meal will focus on frozen stir fry, have several of those to eat up.

EDIT Burger was really really good, mopped up the extra grease with a cloth, got same cloth, washed by hand with soap and soaking in a bit of dish soap, doing that first and see how it comes out, not a severe amount of grease, Lentils crisped up are really good as well, had a few reeses pieces after.

So the Kraft Dinner Meal was good, it did featured frozen riced veggies, sour cream instead of milk and butter and put in the cheese powder right away. Added some sour cream and onion seasoning and some garlic spread. It did get stirred every once in a while and stayed on the burner with a lid. I must say this was a super creamy dish and it was really enjoyable to me. No shredded cheese as not much left in fridge but will pull some from the freezer. I found it quite delicious. There is a lot left over, think I may toast english muffin with butter and add as a side to the pasta, I will see.
