Proton Therapy Better Than Traditional Radiation for Leptomeningeal Disease

I am not sure what my radiation oncologist will decide for my radiation treatment. I went to MAYO Clinic in Minnesota where they have a billion dollar proton radiation option. However, after the surgeon assessed me he said that because I am thin that he may choose traditional X-ray radiation. My husband is having a fit and wants me to gain 20 lbs so I may get the Proton treatment. I have to have a conversation with surgeon of course to see if that is an option. I am just flabergasted with how much treatment I am getting for this little old breast cancer mass and 3 cancerous lymph nodes that have been removed ! I would hope all the cancer is gone but I do not want one single cancer cell lingering. I am a registered nurse but I was not familiar with any cancer treaments until now. I do not know how anyone can hold down a job, pay their bills and make it to all their appointments and manage not feeling well? I am relying on the MAN UPSTAIRS to bless me. My husband is unable to work due to back and hip injuries from pouring concrete his whole life. He is scheduled for back surgery in the next few weeks while I go through my 6 chemo treaments, radiation, 2 IV chemo drugs that last for another 4 months and then hormone therapy pills for TEN YEARS !
