Maggie, hubby is a Pats fan and I usually root for them, but I was full-on Seahawks. Have family in the Seattle area. I bet the Vikings are now regretting letting Sam Darnold go.

DH was for the Seahawks because of the quarterback. We normally don't watch the halftime show but watched a few minutes. The commercials were short and intense. I guess the cost dictates brevity. Then there's the best commercial competition. All in all, a casual experience, watching tv on Super Bowl night. Nance, lol on Superbowl snacks for the Olympics.

I glanced at the receipt from dh's trip to the supermarket yesterday. The bag of large lima beans was almost $7! Even red kidney beans are much more expensive than past years. A bag of Camellia red beans used to be 69 cents. Then 99 cents. I saw a display recently, the "special" price $2.29.

DH added leeks to the big lima beans, which were very good. The mashed potato salad was good, too. So an enjoyable comfort food meal.

The refrigerator is full of leftovers. Tonight we should start eating them.

Wally, sending concern to you and your dh.

Eric, fresh sour dough bread envy.

Eric, his new onco is never in….he's part of my problem. One person having a bad day…but 3 or 4….ugh….

Wally - so sorry, it’s so hard. My heart hurts knowing what you and DH are going through. Wine and chocolate might bring relief? Just kidding kind of..rant away and then allow breath notice as best as you can. You can only do the best you can, sending more hugs as it’s a lot to endure.

Maggie - thanks for the vegie meatloaf recipe! Much appreciated, I’m excited to try it. And a new food blogger to explore too. Win win. Sorry about the patriots.

DH is a Seattle fan, so we had fun watching, and I enjoyed the half time show, it was sweet with Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin too. I’m not a rap fan, though I loved that the wedding bit was real and there was a lot of joy on the field.
I made cannelini bean sliders, mini vegie burgers that came out great, with a lentil chili.

Carole, it looks like beans are going the way of beef. I mute the Super Bowl commercials but watch the halftime show out of habit since that was the HS students’ big topic of conversation the next day. This year’s was different in that it was more of a story than usual. I also liked the real wedding that was incorporated.

Rhonda, That sounds like a tasty vegetarian version of Super Bowl food.

Wally, What you are going through is so hard but give yourself credit for doing the very best you can.

Dinner tonight was Tuscan garlic shrimp on farfalle.

Wally - read your letter on another thread. Good for you for stating the obvious. I'm so sorry you have not had luck with home care. We have several hospice groups here and everyone who has had occasion to use them had been pleased. Sending more hugs & hope that someone will pay attention.

    Ditto to Minus's post.

As planned, dinner was leftovers with the addition of a large delicious, tossed salad.

Someone is coming this afternoon. Whew. I just want quality for a man that was nothing but amazing in my life.

I made cabbage, potato and kielbasa. Leftovers tonight.

Wishing you nothing but good luck today Wally

Costco had two jars of Raos Alfredo for 7.99. Quite a bargain since that’s the price for one jar at my local grocery store. So tonight is fettuccini Alfredo with the addition of broccoli and a splash of tomato sauce. DH is much more receptive to broccoli if it’s smothered in cheese sauce lol.

Wally, Hopefully the appointment this afternoon went well.

Nance, That’s a great deal on Rao’s Alfredo.

I left earlier than usual and avoided the snow on my drive to Boston but it’s coming down now.

Dinner tonight was meh macaroni and cheese with delicious fresh green beans from the hospital cafe.

We had fresh green beans last night, too. They weren't fresh green beans out of the garden but they were good, cooked with potatoes cut into large cubes. We also had roasted chicken thighs.

    Wally sending hugs.

Busy day so tonight was Chinese takeout and a beautiful bouquet of flowers from traders lol. It’s the little things ❤️

I had some Rhode Island clam chowder for lunch. It’s a clear broth soup made from clams, potatoes and onion with Worcestershire or hot sauce added for a bit of a kick. New England is my favorite type but this was pretty good.

Rhonda, Flowers in the middle of winter are so cheerful.

Dinner tonight was leftover beef stew that I made yesterday morning for DH’s dinner.

Last of the potato and kielbasa and cabbage.

Sigh. Hospice is coming back. DH's labs are bad…onco doesn't think chemo would help….my eyes are puffy from crying. They were here yesterday but DH turned them away, thinking he could try chemo. All so very gut wrenching.

Wally - I do hope that DH won't turn them away this time. At least hope he'll listen to the possibilities.

Dinner was a jumbo avocado topped with tuna salad.

Wally, I'm sure hospice nurses and other employees are used to patients resisting hospice care. Hugs for you and your dh during this time of maximum stress.

Dinner last night was "beefed up" mushroom stroganoff. I added sauteed strips of thin ribeye, more sauteed bella mushrooms and more egg noodles. Also a splash of cream.

Thank you, ladies. I called hospice last night, again and hope I hear something today. We did go to the onco yesterday and they drew labs. Not good. Kidneys are starting to decline and PSA is going up; slowly, but up, even on the 13K/month pills.

I'm making a frozen pizza tonight.

Wally, The process you are going through is often very difficult. We are supporting you every step of the way.

Carole, Your stroganoff is a great way to make a leftover meal new.

Dinner tonight was teriyaki salmon, cauliflower and rice.

I had lunch with three women friends yesterday. I wasn't hungry for dinner but ate a small plate with warmed-up big lima beans and rice and a helping of leftover potato salad. My lunch choice was chicken salad that was very tasty. I wish I had the restaurant's recipe.

Tonight we're meeting friends at a restaurant for dinner. I look forward to some time visiting with them.

Thinking about you and your dh, Wally.

Hospice sign-up done this morning. Assigned nurse will arrive on Monday. WA is an assisted suicide state should DH need it. Now we wait.

I think I will make brown rice, spinach and black cod for tonight.

Carole, There are many different ingredients that can be added to chicken salad to give it a bit of a different taste. I’ve tried tarragon, dill chives, lemon juice, curry, dill and sweet pickles, Dijon, dried cranberries, grapes and apples. There must be many other possibilities. I hope you enjoy your dinner out.

m0mmy, It sounds like you have dinner planned for the weekend.

Wally, It’s a relief that hospice care is underway. Hopefully your DH can remain comfortable and pain free. Hugs for you.

Dinner tonight was chicken parmigiana on farfalle..

Have some of the dinner leftover from yesterday. So that is tonight's dinner. Planning a meatloaf, steamed veggies and a side for tomorrow. Have to make it for noon since my hubby's job has him working during what used to be our dinner time. He started this job a few weeks ago and so what was our lunch time normally has become dinner and dinner is now lunch.
