Waiting for biopsy
51 yr old high risk from family and had a mri. Found something. Was sent in for ultrasound. Now they have 2 spots in my right breast that waiting for biopsy appointment. Very scared.
Dense tissue in both wonder if they should have done a ultrasound on the left too?

Hi @boobme1, I'm sorry that you have the stress of waiting for a biopsy and the results. An ultrasound is done to help evaluate the area(s) with the abnormality. It is not used to scan the entire breast.
If a biopsy is positive extra scanning is sometimes done on the contralateral breast, usually a MRI. Since you had one initially and nothing was seen you would discuss the need for additional imaging with a breast surgeon. Hopefully the biopsy will be benign and you won't have to worry about this. All the best.

Thank you. Crossing my fingers this is just a scare. Trying to tell myself if it is positive I am relatively healthy and youngish. Sounds like I am already gathering some people, you guys, to talk things over and learn more. I thank you.

So still waiting. Someone I guess lost the orders for my biopsy. So that rush on them is 30 days. So the procedure is this Friday may 29. I have days I am confident it will be negative and days I am confident it will be positive. Really scared. I hate needles and well I am just plain scared. Thank you

Try to relax. They should numb the area pretty well. I always tease the Dr doing the biopsy to not spare the Lidocaine. I think the anticipation is worse than the procedure. I'll be thinking of you on the 29th!
