Mommy, we're in the same boat with weather. The forecast here calls for a hot July. Not what we were hoping for when we headed north from Louisiana in late May.

Happy Anniversary Carole!
Hubby and I were worried about our dog being hot during this heat. Went to my local Walmart up the road from me to get him a cooling mat their website said they had in stock, got there not one to be had. So hubby and I made a fast trip across the bridge to the next closest Walmart and lo and behold they had plenty. Grabbed one and came right home. Put the mat down and Nugget laid right on it and is zonking out.2 -

Sounds like everyone had a decent July 4th. Hugs to everyone with heat advisories, we have had hot weather for a month now but this past week it was over 100 a couple days and just miserable. It monsoon season here which usually brings daily afternoon showers. Some around the state but not here. Our river has been dry for 7 weeks. It's bad here and lots of wildfires in the state too.
Stay cool people, AC, fans, a cool compress all help with the heat. Find a local cooling center if they have any in your area if you need some relief for a few hours.

Good Morning, Loungettes! Happy Monday Monkey Day! We're having a run of absolutely beautiful summer weather here. The puppers and I have been taking advantage of the time on the deck as much as possible. Heat and humidity in the sweet spot, warm enough to enjoy being out, not so humid I need the AC for more than an hour or so in the middle of the day. Great sleeping weather, too. The puppers are going back and forth between basking in the sun and stretched out in the shade.
mOmmy--I misunderstood, I thought SIL and niece moved already. Enjoy the time you've got with the now as much as you can.
Miriandra--I've only seen videos of the drone shows, but they do look fantastic!
mOmmy--be sure to take good care of yourself during the heat wave!
Carole--The heat seems to be a really big issue this summer, almost everywhere. I bet Nugget is loving the cooling mat! Walmart can be a pain in the anatomy sometimes with saying something is in stock when it isn't. I've learned to check online and see if an item is available for pick up or delivery. The local Walmart will have an item brought in from another store for a pick up or delivery order if they don't have it in stock.
Jazzy--I’m hoping you start getting the seasonal rain you should be getting soon.

I'm just glad the second Walmart we went to had it in stock, even though I checked online and the one closest to me said they had it. Nugget wasnt sure about it, i had to periodically put him on it, but last night he got on it by himself, twice. Its another hot one on tap here today. Tomorrow still bad but slightly cooler.

LOTS of wine here. Today would have been 33 years for my dead DH and I. SOB. We will start having some warmer days…may hit 72….have been loving the 59s….Stay safe for all of those in the heat dome.

Wally, hitting 72 seems like heaven here in MN this afternoon. We're in the 90's. Hugs for you on this difficult date.
I put my wine drinking on "hold." We have a cocktail at 5 pm. After dinner I sip a glass of Irish liqueur that's similar to Bailey's but not as sweet. Not as pricey, either. It's so hot out on the deck that dh and I both are inside the 5th wheel camper with both a/c units working to keep us comfortable.

Ah, Carole, I remember those hot and humid midwest summers. Not that the PNW hasn't had a few either…stupid climate change. Thank you on the hugs. Sobfest. So much paperwork to deal with …that's the only good thing about being dead…you're not required to deal with it. SOB.

Got maybe four hours of sleep last night. Its still a tad hot but cooler here. Now we are in an Air Quality Alert until Thursday. Wildfires are burning in the Boundary Waters area of Northern MN. Got woke up a little bit ago to the smoke smell drifting in from windows we had open for air. Had to dash around the house to close them to keep out the smell.

We will start getting the smoky air, too. But no open windows in the camper. With these high temperatures, we keep the camper closed and set the a/c to come on at 80 degrees.

Its bad. Sent pic to my parents to show them how hazy it is here. Then dashed outside long enough to water my veggie plants and pick whatever was ready to bring in. Wore a bandana over my face. Its so bad that it was making both hubby's and my eyes itch and water, so took an allergy med for it.

ood Morning, Loungettes! Happy Twofer Tuesday! I'm waking up to a couple of unusual weather alerts today. One is a "Severe Weather Potential: Tornado" and the other is "Severe Weather Potential: Thunderstorm High Winds." it's currently 70 degrees with 92% humidity with almost no breeze and the air feels soggy. Radar is showing a huge storm moving down through Quebec that looks to get here in a couple of hours. The general prediction is for potentially severe thunderstorms this evening. Looks like it could be an interesting weather day here.
mOmmy--I finally figured out that the puppers are going into their crates periodically because they are slightly elevated off the floor and feel cooler than the floor sometimes! I'm glad Nugget is getting used to his.
Tornado
Ingredients
• Whiskey: 1 oz(30ml)
• Rum: 1 oz(30ml)
• Vodka: 1 oz(30ml)
• Sugar: 0.5 tbsp
• Coca cola: 2 oz(60ml)
• Tequila: 1 oz(30ml)
• Ice cubes: 3Recipe
- Fill a highball glass with ice cubes.
- Pour in the whiskey, rum, vodka, and tequila.
- Add the sugar and stir until mostly dissolved.
- Top with Coca-Cola and stir gently.
- Serve immediately and enjoy the stormy ride.

Good Morning, Loungettes! Happy TGIF Day! Yesterday sure got interesting late in the afternoon. It started out nice and partly cloudy. Took Mom to a local lobster pound for lunch before her doctor's appointment. 90 years old and she can still tear apart a lobstah in pretty short order! Yes, she did wear the provided bib, and was planning on wearing it to dinner to show off to her tablemates that she had lobstah for lunch. Doctor's appointment went well, the only new issue is some swelling in her feet and ankles from time to time. Going to reduce the dose of some of her meds due to her age. Had some blood drawn on the way out. While the blood was being taken the weather alerts started coming through for high winds up to 65 mph, get inside immediately. A few minutes later a severe thunderstorm warning comes through, mentioning high winds, hail, heavy rain. The storm followed us from the doctor's office to the facility. It was just starting to rain a bit when we got there, by the time I got the walker out of the car and Mom was turned around and getting out of the seat the sky opened and started pelting us with very cold, very large rain splats! I tucked Mom back in the car and ran around and got back in myself, and then we sat there for almost half an hour watching the wind whipping things around when the rain lightened up enough that we could actually see the trees. It was one wild and woolly ride there for a bit. Anyway, after things calmed down I got Mom inside with a minimum of dampness, thanks to my lazy habit of never taking the jackets out of the car. It was funny driving home and seeing how patchy the heavy rain was. Some areas were totally dry, some just damp, some obviously had seen some really serious precipitation. Even more fun was getting home to find the power was out, although I shouldn't have been surprised given that I had driven through at least 2 intersections where the traffic lights were out. It was a different experience having my phone going off with extreme weather warnings and alerts for almost an hour and then having the storm blow through. We were getting advisories about potentially dangerous weather all day Tuesday, but nothing ever materialized. I'm seeing pictures this morning of areas where microbursts did some pretty hefty damage in some places around the state.
Wally--hugs for your anniversary. I can't imagine how hard it is without your DH.
Carole--glad you have the AC to keep things comfortable!
mOmmy--just as well not to be cooking if you don’t have to when it's so hot.
Maine isn't currently getting much from the Canadian wildfires, yet, but I can see it coming. It's practically a regular summer things nowadays. I was surprised to see the extent of the wildfires burning, though. Pretty scary.
Teka--I hadn't thought about dust, but that is a real factor!

Ingredients:
1 tbsp sweet vermouth
1 oz gin
1 tbsp orange juice
1 tsp triple sec
