Today marks one year since Jackie departed this earth. This quote is in memory of her:

“There is no death, daughter. People die only when we forget them,' my mother explained shortly before she left me. 'If you can remember me, I will be with you always.”
    ― Isabel Allende, Eva Luna

I can remember her, she will always be with me, and I miss her, too.

We have the world to live in on the condition that we will take good care of it. And to take good care of it, we have to know it. And to know it and to be willing to take care of it, we have to love it.

  • Good afternoon ladies, "nasty" Canadian here lol. Love your memes and quotes.

I'm feeling a sense of hope, that the tide is turning in the US electorate, and that the sociopathic Trump era may actually be going to fade away.

I'm just wondering what you ladies think about the current Dr. Fauci situation. Throughout the Covid period, I always felt that he was real scientific and medical expert who was sincerely trying to manage the pandemic, to minimize deaths and maximize well being for everyone in the US. Of course there were lockdowns and school closures and businesses suffered. It was tough on almost everyone. But there was financial support available and the kids I know including my 5 grandchildren came through it okay. Kids are resilient on the whole and adapt and move forward. Unlike Rand Paul and his attack dogs who are obsessed with the villainy of Dr. Fauci as if he purposely set out to do harm to American society. To me it looks like the persecution of an 85 year old man who was doing his job as a medical professional advising the President of the United States. Why don't they attack Trump for recommending people drink bleach? Anyway, just wondering what your opinions are.

Keep kicking at the darkness. Bella Ciao

Dr. Fauci was not only the face of the Covid debacle, but also a leader during the AIDS epidemic. If not for him and what he instituted, many more people would have died in the US and perhaps the world.

Rand Paul is a poor excuse for a physician since he trained as an ophthalmologist and when he could not pass boards for his specialty, he used an alternative boards to achieve his status. If he was really successful as a physician he would not have joined the senate. He's an ass and I think he was professionally jealous of Fauci's guidance and knowledge. As a nurse who once practiced Infection Control (trained at CDC, when it wasn't run by idiots), and knew of Fauci's contributions to the field, I'd stand behind him any day.

Trump also recommended we take ivermectin, and other bizarre treatments that were not deemed safe for mankind. Using a veterinary deworming medicine was weird then and still weird today.

Do not take health care advice from him nor RFK, Jr. unless you have a death wish. I shudder to think of parents who have opted not to get their children vaccinated because they do not understand the repercussions of this decision. It is their children who will suffer.

littlemelons, thanks for chiming in. I'm getting both the flu vaccine and another Covid booster this fall and hope others will follow my lead. I want to live long enough to see both of them dethroned.

The Fauci dog-and-pony show is just another distraction attempt to divide attention away from Iran, Epstein (we're still waiting on any movement to investigate clients and traffickers), Todd Blanche, Max Miller, the dismantling of the Department of Education and the Environmental Protection Agency, the Reflecting Pool, the Ballroom, the Arch, crypto corruption, and trump's petition to shield himself and his family from IRS audits.

Totally agree that it's to distract us from all the crap that's going on now. And to go after an elderly man who has devoted his whole life to public service is absolutely disgraceful.

Animals have come to mean so much in our lives. We live in a fragmented and disconnected culture. Politics are ugly, religion is struggling, technology is stressful, and the economy is unfortunate. What's one thing that we have in our lives that we can depend on? A dog or a cat loving us unconditionally, every day, very faithfully.

The goal of education is not to increase the amount of knowledge but to create the possibilities for a child to invent and discover, to create men who are capable of doing new things.
