Glad you've found this thread, @bmatthews — we just posted on your other post, but this is a great place to help alleviate your fears! Keep in mind all of these clearances are done to make sure you'rea good candidate for surgery - so getting the clearance itself, while anxiety-producing, should give you some assurance that the experts are confident you'll be just fine. Have some faith in that!

I have a question. My unilateral mastectomy ( no reconstruction) is Sept. 23. I am booked for a bone density scan and an abdominal ultrasound on Set. 29. Will I be able to have these tests? My husband would be driving me so that part is not an issue.

@jaspercat I think the ultrasound would be ok. I have never had a DEXA so I'm not sure what is involved? If they can wait, I would suggest waiting....but if it would be too difficult to reschedule, show up and bring a snack and post-op medications with you!
I am now at post-op day 12. My only pain meds now are ibuprofen and acetaminophen. I have tissue expanders in place and they feel like a metal plate that is getting cranked down. Drains are out...last one came out yesterday! I am very tired....can't really sleep but also have no energy to do anything. Feeling kinda blah.

@bmatthews how are you holding up? Sending you a virtual hug! I also thought about not waking up from surgery....I think that is pretty normal. Talk to your people and let them know you are scared....and lean on them! We also got you here in this group.

Thanks for your words. My surgery is Thursday. Supposed to be routine is what they say but it’s anything but routine to me. There’s nothing routine about being put to sleep. I’ve done well so far. Diagnosed back in July. It’s been no big deal until these last few days. Im having a lumpectomy with follow up radiation. It just became real to me and I am beyond scared.
