Arimidex and Breast Cancer Index Test
I’ve been taking Arimidex for almost 10 years based upon my Breast Cancer Index test. Due to hospitalization this year (not related to BC) I had some bone loss.I also get Prolia injections every 6 months and will be handed over to my endocrinologist. My oncologist said I to stop my Arimidex now since I’ve taken it for 9 years and 4 months. I received a call from the pharmacy that my prescription has been cancelled. Has anyone stopped early with only a few months left? I’m nervous since I’m so close to the finish line.

I stopped after 8.5 years even though BCI test reccomended 10. Oncologist was concerned about bone loss and thought I had gained enough benefit from the AI. I felt as you do, concerned about not finishing a full ten years. I
Didn’t have any bone or joint pain during my treatment however after stopping it has kicked in. Also my cholesterol (ldl) hasn’t come down although I’m told it typically returns to a lower level. It’s been 1.5 years since stopping. I’m looking at adding bone meds and cholesterol meds to help. Overall a rocky load since stopping.
