AIs - trading one problem for another
Please let me know if I am understanding this correctly. I am at low risk for recurrence. 7% risk of recurrence in 10 years with AIs, and 14% without. That means I have an 86% chance of NOT having a recurrence without AIs. If this means that out of 100 women, 86 will NOT have a recurrence without AIs, then 86 women will have taken a drug that has numerous and sometimes dangerous adverse effects for nothing. I realize that no one can predict who will be the ones without recurrence, but I will gladly take my chance. I do not want to feel miserable every day for 5 years or cause harm to my heart for something that may never happen. I don't understand the cookie cutter approach. Why is everyone prescribed AIs no matter what their risk factor is? It makes no sense.
One cannot say "it can't hurt to take them". Yes it can.
Re: Starting Chemo July and August 2024 Support Thread
Hi everyone, hope I’m not too late to the party. I’m 35 years old and diagnosed at the end of July with IDC, grade 3, ER+ (90%) PR+ (10%), HER2 equivocal IHC, low positive FISH, high ki67 (60%). Positive for BRCA2 and CHEK2 mutations. I begin 6 cycles of TCHP tomorrow, and am scared senseless. I plan on manual cold capping, because my cancer treatment center doesn’t offer it. I’ve fully come to terms that I’m going to lose my hair, but I’d really just like to try to prevent any permanent loss. If my chemo goes as planned, I should be having dmx surgery in January, one of which is preventative (only have one tumor in my left breast) due to the gene mutations. Something to look forward to through the holidays! (Not).
I hope everyone is doing well! Being at the tail end of August, I imagine if this thread continues, I’ll always be some steps behind you guys.
Re: I say YES. YOU say NO....Numero Tre! Enjoy!
Speaking of polls, I think Nate Silver is putting a lot of stock in polls right now and not paying much attention to all the things we are hearing about Reps. crossing over — for any reason to Harris. He says he thinks FG could win with s blowout. Funny, then that we are hearing entirely different things. That said — how could anyone be too sure of things with all the lies, suppressions, dirty tricks, Russian influences and other things that we deal with in this day and age. How much wt. has Nate Silver given to those things and is that why he sees things as he does.?
I am concerned and will be until the debates and the election are done. Idiots in Congress sound like they are going to impeach Walz. If you ask me that is some real fear at work. I can't imagine someone as savvy as President Biden and V.P. Harris not doing a very proper vetting of a V.P. candidate and I feel certain they did. I have read a couple of times where the other side is getting VERY fearful listening to lunatic FG spout some of the craziest stuff ever, and I think they too are pretty worried about the debate.
I can't fathom trying to impeach a V.P. or Presidential candidate — but what are you going to do. I do think the conservatives of the Reps. party are quite right. If they don't rid themselves of the worst president in history and get him off their lines, their party will really, I think be doomed. He has done little for them compared to the grief end of things full of destruction of everything that means anything to the American people.
In some ways it is hard to believe that FG could get so far, but there again — we do not administer laws fairly. The very well know or very well off get to skate around whistling a happy tune while everyone else sits it out in a jail cell or worse. We need to make it more of a sure thing, as well as quicker by far.
In my mind — we have done FG and people like him a great disservice allowing them the opportunity to be treated different — it didn't make them grateful, it made them worse — so now we have the FG still socking it to us. Long past time to fix that picture.
Re: For Arimidex (Anastrozole) users, new, past, and ongoing
I have been on Tamoxifen since the end of 2011, which makes it 3 years. I was switched to Armidex about 2 weeks ago as my blood work came back as post menopausal. I have started to have a lot of anxiety, heart palpitations and have been extremely moody. After having palpitations which felt like skipped heartbeats over the weekend I went off the Armidex. I plan on talking to my oncologist first thing Monday. Has anyone else had this happen when starting Armidex

More than that — a little sick if you ask me.
