BREAKING: Congresswoman Madeleine Dean brutally humiliates Trump's Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick during a hearing after he absurdly implies that companies should "build" bananas in America to avoid tariffs: "We cannot build bananas in America!"
These are jaw-droppingly stupid remarks from Lutnick...
"What's the tariff on bananas? Americans by the way love Bananas. We buy billions of them a year. I love bananas. What's the tariff on bananas?" Dean asked during a hearing on the destructive MAGA tariffs.
"The tariff on bananas would be representative of the countries that produce them," replied Lutnick.
"And what's that tariff?" pressed Dean.
"Generally 10%," said Lutnick.
"Correct, 10%," said Dean. "Walmart has already increased the cost of bananas by 8%."
"As countries do deals with us that will go to to zero. As countries do deals with us that will go to zero—" said Lutnick.
"But the cost is on the American consumer now and on the businesses with the confusion now," interjected Dean. "Mr. Secretary, I believe you know better. I believe you recognize that a trade deficit is not something to fear. I believe you know that predictability, stability is essential for businesses. I wish you would show that truth to this administration and I yield back."
Lutnick then asked if he could make "one quick comment" to Congresswoman Dean and the chairman allowed him. For his own sake, he should have kept his mouth shut...
"There's no uncertainty if you build in America and you produce your product in America there will be no tariff," said Lutnick.
"We can't produce bananas in America!" said Dean.
"The concept of building in America and paying no tariff is very, very clear," Lutnick added.
"We cannot build bananas in America!" said Dean, delivering the soundbite of the year in one fell swoop.
The Congresswoman is, of course, correct. It makes absolutely no sense to put tariffs on goods that cannot be produced in the United States. All that does is spike the prices for hard-working American families.
This is truly the most incompetent, ignorant administration in American history.

BREAKING: Former Trump White House aide Alyssa Farah Griffin breaks down exactly how oligarch Elon Musk's efforts to kill Donald Trump's "big, beautiful" bill spell disaster for MAGA world.
"Elon Musk basically could tank Donald Trump’s entire legislative agenda," she said. And it gets even better...
"If Republicans decide, ‘Oh, we don’t want to get on the wrong side of Elon,' that is what Donald Trump is banking it all on, and that’s kind of devastating for his administration,” Farah Griffin said on The View.
"On the flip side, those Republicans, if you’re in a House district, you’re like, ‘I’m afraid of Donald Trump,’ but Elon Musk, because of the dark money system we live in, he can come in and primary you by just pouring millions and millions into your race," she continued.
"The entire balance of power in the House of Representatives could stand on if Elon Musk actually follows through and primaries people who vote for the bill," she added.
Musk was the Republican Party's secret weapon during the 2024 election. He burned through more than $250 million to help elect Republicans and put Trump in the White House. If he decides to turn that financial firepower against them in the mid-terms, it will crush them.
He went scorched earth on the bill this week, labeling it a "disgusting abomination" because of what it does to the deficit.
"I’m sorry, but I just can’t stand it anymore," he wrote on X. "This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination. Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it."
"It will massively increase the already gigantic budget deficit to $2.5 trillion (!!!) and burden American citizens with crushingly unsustainable debt," he added. He also called on his followers to help "kill the bill."
This legislation is indeed an abomination. The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office estimates that nearly 11 million Americans lose access to health insurance over the coming decade if it passes.
At the same time, it balloons the bloated Pentagon budget to over $1 trillion while cutting taxes by $3.7 trillion in a massive handout to the rich. It's estimated that it will add $2.4 trillion to the deficit, an issue that Republicans pretend to care about right up until it's time to shovel more wealth to the already wealthy.
For once, we agree with Elon Musk. Kill the bill.

BREAKING: Democratic Congressman Stephen Lynch drops a bombshell on MAGA oligarch Elon Musk and calls for him to be subpoenaed due to his alleged out of control drug abuse.
The Republicans at the hearing had a meltdown over this one...
"Four months ago, Democrats moved to subpoena Elon Musk to provide public testimony to this committee," Lynch said during an AI hearing of the House Oversight Committee. "At that time our Republican colleagues complained that their constituents were calling their offices and showing up town halls to yell at them about Musk. Well, Americans' concerns have only deepened since then."
"From his erratic purge of the federal workforce to his exploitation of sensitive taxpayer data, to the cybersecurity nightmare he's created and the horrifying surveillance state we fear, Musk has put the American people into a position where they demand answers from Elon Musk," Lynch continued.
"I believe too that my Republican colleagues should have had some questions of their own for Mr. Musk," he went on. "Recent allegations have left Americans wondering if he was potentially under the influence of drugs, while at the very heart of the Trump administration's most consequential and sensitive decisions."
A recent report in The New York Times alleged that Musk was "using drugs far more intensely than previously known" during Donald Trump's 2020 campaign and his "drug consumption went well beyond occasional use."
His ketamine abuse allegedly got so bad that he informed people it was "affecting his bladder." He also reportedly consumed Ecstasy, psychedelic mushrooms, and Adderall. Reportedly, he traveled with a box containing roughly 20 pills.
According to that report, Musk also used his money and political influence to avoid the legal consequences of his alleged habit. Since his company SpaceX is a government contractor, the employees are required to abstain from any illegal drug use. Random drug tests are regularly administered to the workers and administers but "people close to the process" claim that Musk was able to evade the tests because he was given "advance warning."
"It is worth investigating whether one of President Trump's most influential advisors was under the influence of heavy drugs while upending hundreds of thousands of American lives, breaking government services beyond repair, and handing out death sentences for hundreds of thousands of innocent people around the world who relied on American foreign aid and medical care for survival, most of whom were children," said Congressman Lynch.
"If this doesn't move my Republican colleagues maybe they just want to hear from Musk on why he called their bill to cut Medicaid and give tax breaks to billionaires — this is Elon Musk's words — a 'disgusting abomination' and 'massive outrageous pork-filled Congressional spending bill,' he continued. "Or why he spent the last twenty four hours leveraging his social media to 'kill the bill.'"
"Maybe they want to know why Musk has said that his next round of firings might be targeted at them, Republican politicians who have not toed the line on Musk's priorities," he added.
Lynch then made a motion to subpoena Musk. Not surprisingly, Republicans closed ranks and moved to table the motion. Unfortunately for them, there weren't enough Republicans to pass a recorded vote. Chair Nancy Mace, a hardcore MAGA supporter, then rushed to suspend the hearing by absurdly claiming that the committee clerk was unprepared.
"Do we not have an assistant clerk who can make sure that we can continue to do the business in an efficient way in Oversight?" asked Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett, seeing right through the lie. "Because it has historically never taken this long for the clerk."
"We're going through the process right now and we'll have a recorded vote as soon as we're able to," insisted Mace.
"Is it possible for us to just do a roll call without the clerk to determine what members are here so that we can determine if y'all really have the votes?" she asked.
"No, ma'am. Thank you," Mace shot back.
The two went back and forth with Mace attempting to railroad the hearing to her desired result of protecting Musk.
"Is the only reason we can't take a vote is because y'all were about to lose it?" Crockett asked.
"Is there a point of inquiry here? Cause I didn't hear one," whined Mace.
"That was my inquiry," said Crockett.
"That's not a valid inquiry. Thank you," responded Mace.
More Republicans eventually showed up, which allowed Mace to proceed with a recorded vote that tabled the subpoena motion.
What do you think? Should Congress subpoena Elon Musk?
I say book him, Dano.
Re: I say YES. YOU say NO....Numero Tre! Enjoy!
Something that needs way more consideration than it gets. Those who have the most it seems often lose sight of the fact they are NOT in charge and more does not automatically mean better.
Re: I say YES. YOU say NO....Numero Tre! Enjoy!
Trump policies set to get a lot of people killed — but as usual, he won't be blamed.

The government of Israel is not representative of its peoples, any more than the US government represents the majority of its peoples. They both are renegade governments and not what people thought they elected. Citizens have got to do a better job, before they have no say at all.
