@fox3 hi, there is a timeframe for Kusqali to work which is about 4.5 years. Usually cancer mutates to either gain ESR1 or PIK3CA or others - or switch hormone receptors. In all these cases the change of treatment is warranted. And after 4 years of great response to Kisqali you cannot say it’s aggressive. There are other tests that predict these changes way before they are detected by scans. Current radiological tools cannot see new tumors until they reach certain size. So there are no need to blame MO. The changes in our situation being stage IV are inevitable. But it doesn’t mean it happens now. People have great responses to the second line as well. And I wish I am on Kisqali for four years. So you can trust your doc and move forward with the next line. Best of luck

Re: Starting Radiation in August 2025 support thread

Not sure if I'll start in August or Sept. My last taxol is this week (barring any setbacks). My RO is the same person who treated me 14 years ago. She's considering DIBH and prone techniques to spare my heart, which has some existing damage from my first go at treatment (she says A/C did it 🤷‍♀️). I did well overall with rads last time, but this course of chemo has been brutal - so who knows.

@threetree Hi ! Thank you so much for sharing your experience with me. That sounds really painful. I appreciate the clarification about the intense pain. (Although I’m very sorry you went through that!!) it’s hard for me to know when something is a symptom or when is just my body being weird. For the past few weeks Ive had the sensation of something “stuck” in my upper chest. Sometimes it’s prominent and sometimes it’s not. It’s like there’s a piece of bread that I haven’t quite swallowed. And it came on really strong right after last week’s round of injections. It’s probably just stress related because it doesn’t sound like what you are describing.

I went to the zoom for the first time last Wednesday. It was refreshing, reassuring, and very helpful. I felt way less alone.

I was 34 when I was diagnosed with Stage 1 triple negative breast cancer. That was nearly 33 years ago. I had given birth less than a year before and I felt so incredibly young and helpless.

I did have a local recurrence after 19 years, but that was 14 years ago. I’ve lived a full life in the meantime and I wish the same for you.

You didn’t do anything to cause your cancer. It’s one of those “shit happens” things. You will feel better once up you’ve got a treatment plan in place.

Posting here in memory of our dear Jackie (illinoislady), who took over this thread from ritajean who started it. She left us, quickly & peacefully, on August 3. I can't duplicate her endless trove of wonderful quotes; but I know so many of us on these forums live in Illinois, whether in Chicagoland or downstate (as she did, in Centralia). Reaching out to harley07 and chicagoan to pick up the baton. At one point we even tried to have an in-person get-together (helmed by the irrepressible camillegal from Lombard, who left us a couple of years ago).

@skcintn - Hello, I don't do the Zoom group (but think about maybe trying it), and I have mets to my sternum. I found out because I had a fracture while I was in the shower. I just got that all over feeling that something was terribly wrong, so I got out and continued to feel strange, so at some point went to the ER and they did scans that showed the mets and fracture. I had already had mets to spine and ribs.
