@marcials1 I forgot to update you on my UTI symptoms. It was a bladder infection after all. The antibiotics knocked it out very quickly. I still get that uncomfortable feeling now but it’s definitely improved since getting rid of the infection.
I’ll be having a detailed discussion about letrozole with my oncology team in early September. I’ll definitely share what she says. I’m supposed to be seeing the PA but I’m using the messaging portal and it’s Journal feature to make sure I get the most information from the MO that I can.
I ended up in the ER yesterday with “sciatica” pain in my right leg. It was a very unpleasant experience. They said AIs can trigger sciatica-like symptoms. Joy! What really makes me mad is that it felt like the folks at this particular ER were just interested in getting patients out the door. I wasn’t given enough medication to get the pain under control before they booted me out the door. I had been treated like a druggie at an ER when I was in my 20’s and suffering from a migraine. Until I had a neurologist who made sure my medical records reflected my condition, I never went back to an ER for an unbearable migraine until my 30’s. The neurologist was horrified when I told him my self-treatment for really bad migraines was to hit myself in the head with a blunt object. Anyway, I won’t be going back to that particular hospital again.
My GP has put me on a course of steroids starting today and recommended reducing the 300mg gabapentin 3x and terminating the naproxen 500mg 2x that the ER put me on. Driving is extremely painful and I’ve had a pain level between 6 and 7 all day. I gave in and applied generic Voltaren to my leg and went to bed. I’m curious to hear how many ladies have developed sciatica while on AIs.

Mara Checking in on ya, you still dealing with humidity? It's been pretty swampy here all day, we have a storm brewing now. We can certainly use the rain that's for sure. I waited to water my flowers so hopefully we get a good soaking! Pretty quiet day, I made a chocolate chip banana bread this morning and visited my mil this afternoon.

It hit 88 yesterday and dropped to 70s by 7pm. 3 days of ick, so I feel for those of you dealing with this for days on end. Hope we can hover in the 60s and YAY that August is 1/2 over….
I've been wearing a wool/silk tee as my "bra" (i've had bmx) and then whatever I choose to wear. I just ordered a wool tank top to see how I will feel with that. Not wearing a bra makes me feel naked, for some odd reason. I had large breasts, so I could never go without a bra…well…societal-ly speaking, LOL.

Hello, I have been busy between my mom and my grand children. School here started yesterday, so maybe some of it will get back to a normal schedule. My mom seems to be having more times of confusion, but she keeps her home clean and eats regularly and herself is taken care of, I think she is ok so far. The confusion isn't anything too serious.
Carole- I am sorry to hear about Ilinois lady/Jackie. I wasn't really active on that site, but I did read and remember she always would write an uplifting post each day.
I just wanted to pop in, hope to write more later.

I’m just sorry they aren’t both gone. Wearing a bra makes a muscle in my back spasm. Not a problem in the winter but summer makes it harder to go bra less

Tumor Markers Rising
I'm back after a long respite. I was initially diagnosed nearly 14 years ago with ILC Stage IIIC. I did 10 years of Letrazole. I've moved around a bit and am currently living in a place where I get tumor marker testing. My CA 15.3 went from the top of the range ~29 in February to 89 currently.
I've been having pain in my left leg for about four months that was diagnosed as sciatica. I don't know whether this is related or not.
My onco appointment is Monday.
I am, of course, nervous, and I wondered if anyone else had been in a similar situation and how it turned out. I'm not very familiar with the CA 15.3, having not had tumor marker testing over most of the lasts 14 years (or scans for that matter).

@boneonboneinnola I'm really sorry to hear about your diagnosis and all you have been through. I don't know about whitening, but I have a very good dentist who instantly understood what a cancer diagnosis means, including the consequences of taking a bone strengthener like Xgeva or Zometa. She had all my teeth specially xrayed so that any future change could be noted. So I guess my advice is to make sure you have a really good dentist who can give you the low-down.

Sorry to hear about the bone mets. I was on semiannual Prolia shots for osteopenia for 3 years; 2 years later developed osteoporosis so am now on semiannual Prolia 10 years-to-life. Before beginning Prolia I had thorough dental exam and cleaning every 6 months; I now see my dentist every 3 months. I was warned about ONJ should I get extractions, implants or very deep root planing. So far, so good. I also underwent Invisalign orthodontia at 68 and still wear a retainer—which keeps my teeth stable and less likely to loosen & fall out.
Whitening—even professionally under UV light—is superficial and limited to the enamel. Ask your dentist, but I doubt it would pose any ONJ risk—even though Xgeva is monthly. (Same drug, different name, different indication). FWIW, when I thought I would be getting bisphosphonate infusions (Zometa/Reclast) because my GERD precludes the oral versions (Fosamax, Boniva, etc.), the dental pre-clearance was not required. I couldn't tolerate the Zometa, so that's why I switched.
