Re: Starting Chemo June 2025? Let's support each other here!
I start TC hopefully next week pending insurance. I will be doing cold capping and hopeful it will work to keep some of my hair.
Re: Can we have a forum for "older" people with bc?
We had gray skies and rain early. I was up too early again today. Right now it’s sunny and humid. I think over the next few days we’ll definitely appreciate the new AC splits.
I had ordered some liquid hand soaps from Pottery Barn and they shipped to the store on Monday. This afternoon I drove over to get them. I had the very first parking spot but boy it wore me out going in & out. I was glad to get home and elevate the foot.
The concert right now is iffy. I’d give my ticket to another gf to go. Enjoy the evening.
Re: Positive LVI and Benefit vs Toxicity of Adjunct Treatment
I chosed aggressive treatment, being young at the time, wanted to be around for our kids.I am glad I had a radical masectomy and chemo for a year, twice a month.
Saw our kids finished school, university, marry, 30 years survivor.
I am retired from a cancer center, my choice made me live years.
Re: Can't get in to surgeon for 6 months.
Yes I did get into Stanford & met with surgeon. Just had second appointment today and was told that after reviewing images of MRI mastectomy would be preferred due to the fact that lumpectomy would have to remove over 60% of breast and there would be defects. Just trying to process everything after learning that the complication rate for older women(I'm 71) is pretty high with reconstruction. Trying to get used to the idea of no reconstruction.
Re: Can't get in to surgeon for 6 months.
I am a Kaiser patient (I went 13 years at stage IV before any progression!) but did get second opinions at Stanford. They concurred with Kaiser’s recommendations, which was comforting. UCSF would be a great choice as well (though Stanford is so fancy!) . I will also add that since I had recon at the same time as the bmx, coordinating the surgeons did add to the wait time, but due to the nature of bc, relatively slow growing, there wasn’t much concern about it effecting my health negatively. Take care
