Re: insurance Diep
Hi @lauren83, I'm sorry that your health insurance doesn't follow WHCRA rules. As the mods said, some types of health insurance are exempt. To add to your warning, many people have health insurance cards that make it look like they are covered by a large national insurer but are not. I had insurance from a self insuring state employee program that was just administered by Blue Cross / Blue Shield. I discovered that you need to research the details of your plan since those just administered but not funded by a major insurance company sometimes have different rules and are not subject to oversight by state insurance regulatory departments.. All the best.

Re: Who's starting Radiation in November 2025? Let's gather here to share!
Hello to all you brave women
I am Stage 0 high grade DCIS HR+
inhave had a lumpectomy left side
Clear margins and am to start 9 rounds of radiation. I am still waiting for the team to put my plan together but I am hoping to start the week of Nov 17.
5 rounds for the whole breast and an additional 4 rounds to one specific spot where the margin has a 1mm clearance.
I started applying Lubriderm lotion after having the markers done.. as I was told to by my RO.
I was also told that fatigue is the most common side effect. But also rash and dry skin are common as well.
Has anyone experienced nausea?
I am fortunate that I am and have been off work since my surgery (Sept 17)
I was told by my RO that peak effects are usually 2 weeks after the last session.
I think the biggest takeaway is REST!! And to give all our bodies the time it needs to recover.
I will send an update on how it is going for me!
Right now.. I don’t feel nervous, but I am very anxious. I just want a start date and get the process going.. but I guess it already has.
Meditation has helped me get through the anxiousness!!
Re: Who's starting Radiation in November 2025? Let's gather here to share!
Hi All,
Just began radiation treatments last week , Have 32 more rounds to go - 7 weeks total .
I am a 65 year old 2nd time survivor after 12 years of remission and single mastectomy,BCcame back in same side
Lumpectomy and now radiation……….
I did not have radiation 12 years ago so I don’t know what to expect so far I have a little redness and I understand that fatigue is common fatigue anyway since I clean houses every day to I hope I have the energy to do this for the next Seven weeks
Re: STEAM ROOM FOR ANGER
Health benefit meeting tomorrow. I am about to get royally screwed with staying insured. Anxiety already high as the memo I read said current insurer (Atena) is not going to renew with our company and broker is going to present us with age-based plans. I'm 64 will be eligible for Medicare Sept. 2026. If the premium they present to me is beyond my reach I'm seriously considering going without insurance for 10 months!!!!!!! Wish me luck, I'm due for Prolia in Jan and there's likely a chance that won't happen and I will be going off cold turkey. I will reach out to my docs in the event I do not opt into a plan to see if I can somehow stay on the few prescriptions that have kept me healthy. Just passed a mammo and a lung scan so I'm good til next October with those. I hate this!!!
Re: November 2025 Chemo thread - let's support one another!
Hi there, I just turned 46 and had a lumpectomy 4 weeks ago. I start chemo treatment on Thursday (TCx6). Any advice or tips to keep in mind would be greatly appreciated. Looking to minimize as many of the potential side effects as possible, and there's a lot of them to keep in mind before potentially getting to experience menopause mid treatment…..which will be another new experience. Thanks x
Re: how about drinking?
Jazzy - great pictures. Thanks for sharing.
Wally -sorry about the lack of contractors to complete your jobs. I appreciate the LOTS of red wine.
NM - hope you have made progress getting Mom settled and started to think about YOU again.
BTW - my AST blood test was way up in September so the doc wanted to re-test. Liver panel…. Re-test on 11/6 was up even more. Guess I'll have to cut back on my drinking - although that hasn't really increased in the last 50 years.
