Re: Single-Breasted Photo Shoot
Awesome! Wish there was more of that when I started my journey. Really wonderful.
Do you know anyone who has done an explant (mastectomy → implants → explant → "flat" (maybe a little concave) I am doing an explant but considering not doing DIEP or other reconstruction. The PS says I will probably be a bit concave … like as much as 1/2". I am trying to find someone who has gone through that.
Re: Scared about this diagnosis
I have not popped in for a while then come in and find your post. If you have a diagnosis and a surgery coming there is a plan by my medical doctor.
What is your fear?
Starting there and sharing your fears or fears takes their power. Put them on this virtual table and let us know. My breast cancer journey was in early July 2021. I had a plan after my diagnosis to get chemo to shrink my tumor. Then IO got a genetic test result that said a Brca2 mutation. My 1st chemo moved one day later and increased from 1 every 3 weeks for 4 times to 12, one per week then the original 4. More happened but i ended up having the surgery in early Feb 2022.
One thing i found interesting was the day of surgery. At City of Hope in Duarte California my surgeon arrived in my room about 30 minutes after i had undressed into my gown and had my vitals done. He needed to draw on my body what he was going to do. Which side was coming off and the whole path.
Are you having a lumpectomy? Whatever you are having done you might put in the subject line above? This is breast cancer.org. There are a whole bunch of us who had surgery and can share.
My surgery was in 2 parts, my other surgeon removed my ovaries and fallopian tubes, then the breast surgeon and the plastic surgeon who drew on my body came in the suite for the breast work. Less anesthesia to do them both.
aurfraaly- please share so we might bring some comfort.
Re: how about drinking?
Had planned on going to church this morning but alarm system on the neighbor's truck across the street started going off about 2 a.m. waking both me and hubby, not once but twice!

NM - I too love the Mom stories. My Mother had a debilitating, catastrophic stroke when I was 48. For the next 12 years, she lived as a total vegetable.
