Re: Can we have a forum for "older" people with bc?
Sandy - it sounds like you are making quite a bit of progress. Hopefully all will continue on a positive trajectory and you’ll be back home within this month. Fingers crossed that there are no more surprises.
Cindy - I had to look up Canadaigua Lake. Looks like a really nice area. Put it on my list of potential future driving trips. I have such a long list it’s unlikely I’ll ever visit even a fraction of places I’d like to see.
Chris - happy to hear you feeling better.
Intolight - hope you feel better soon.
Our 4th of July was very low-key. Neither of us felt like there was much to celebrate with the passage of the big bill. I worry about those who will lose healthcare coverage and food benefits. I feel sorry for younger generations such as my son since their future looks quite cloudy at this point. My son has health insurance through his employer but I worry that if he is laid off he will be uninsured.
I spent some time at the urgent care today. Last Sunday I noticed a small raised red bump on my thigh after swimming. It was very itchy. I presume it was a bug bite of unknown origin. Over the past week the redness has grown to a 6cm circle with itchiness and stinging. It does not have the typical presentation of a bullseyes that is associated with Lyme disease, but the doctor is unable to determine exactly what it is. OTC stuff like cortisone and Gold Bond have been ineffective. Doctor prescribed antibiotics and prednisone along with Benadryl and Pepcid (for antihistamine effect). He feels this combination will knock it out regardless of whether it is a big bite , Lyme, skin infection or allergic reaction. Time will tell. I just hope it helps the itching and stinging.
After that I headed over to the gym for a quick elliptical workout since at 92 degrees it was much too hot to do anything outside. Tomorrow is supposed to be closer to 80 so my plan is to ride my bike. We’ll see if that happens.
Take care to all!
Re: oncotype dx roll call
They didn’t have Oncotype DX or Her2 testing when I was DX the first time in 1999, at age 27. I had 1cm IDC, grade 2, Er+/Pr+. Sentinel node and axillary nodes negative. I had lumpectomy, Sentinel Node and Axillary node dissection, radiation, and Tamoxifen.
My current diagnosis, Oncotype is 26. 3.2cm IDC, ER + 95%, PR + 69%, Her2 -, KI-67 14%, grade 3, node negative. I’m 46. I just had a BMX with first phase of reconstruction, I will start TC chemo x 4 on 9/4, then ovarian suppression with Tamoxifen or AI
Re: ER-, PR-, Her2+ Roll call
I've had my 2nd Enhertu/Perjeta infusion. The nausea and stomach pain are tough. Neither zofran nor compazine are helping. I'm getting a Udenyca injection today, which I don't want. Good news is that my tumor markers have really plummeted, CA27-29 is back in the normal range.
