Meant to mention when we used to fly to AZ to rent a car to spend 3 weeks exploring the state, one of the trips was to the north rim of the Grand Canyon. We stayed about 50 miles away from this rim and drove in to see the Grand Canyon from this perspective after having visitied the south rim on other occasions. The Grand Canyon Lodge was a beautiful building with huge timbered interior and we arrived around lunch time.
We spoke to the restaurant manager about a table and since we were willing to wait he flagged a table overlooking the canyon for us. It was a spectacular view and we could actually see small fires on the other rim from our seats. Fire season there is not unusual. I am so glad we got to visit it before learning of its fate.
Wonder if it will be rebuilt considering how the National Park Service is currently being treated? We did hike one of the trails for another vantage point and though underrated, it was a lovely visit. The cabins lining the road in, were used by park employees and they are gone as well. Sad.
So glad it wasn't El Tovar on the south rim. It, too, is spectacular and we've had many a meal there. Hope they can contain the fire soon. It is the place to be if you want to see the Condors fly. We have seen them several times and they are spectacular.

Shana - Thank you so much for your special note. I can really relate to your not having posted much lately either. I'm not sure just what happened with me, but ever since those shingles I had and my last set of fulvestrant shots, I'm just kind of a fatigued zombie. Can't really think and then when I start to read a paragraph about most anything, I get through a few sentences and then everything seems to fade and become a blurr in my mind and I realize I'm no longer taking in what I'm reading. Also just had some sort of bad gastrointestinal bug or bad food or something like that for the last few days, but I am getting better from that now. It's all just left me weak and brain foggy. I'm still getting most of my walking in though, thank goodness.
Shana I had read your last post about being so sick while you were in the car with your husband and I so wanted to respond, but that's when all of this seemed to hit, with seemingly no physical or mental strength. It's my "mental strength" that seems to be so lacking lately. I felt so badly for you and still do, as you are going through so much. I wish I could say more, but it would probably wind up just being an unfocused ramble at this point. I think the weather and the higher temps and humidity are contributing to all of this too - maybe for you too? We don't get what some do, but it has been warmer and muggier here than what I can easily tolerate (we've had some lovely days recently too). Just know that I am following along with what you post and have so much sympathy. Wishing you as nice a day as possible - I read that NJ is getting some flash floods? Take care and stay safe!

@rlschaller @scgal08 My heart is heavy knowing that your both struggling with these skin mets. Rhonda prayers up that you get in this trial and that Eribulin will be the final drug to out once and for all! Fingers crossed that the PET is clean and stable. Rita I'm holding out hope that Trodelvy is combating these skin mets as we speak. Hoping that this last full dose and the last dose will be the key to a good response. I will always be here to listen and I will continue to pray for healing. Big hugs to you both.
I'm doing ok, we have been busy caring for my mil. However we were sent an angel on earth, a retired nurse to help us. We met her yesterday and she is a wonderful, caring, compassionate person. She will help with the insulin injections and any other nursing support we need. She literally lives a block from my mil so it is giving us some mental relief.

I had a brief trip to NYC and got lots of exercise navigating the airports, subways, etc. I'm still limping but the acupuncture and PT seem to be helping my hip. Now I have to turn around and fly back tomorrow b/c I have a consult at MSK. They couldn't get me an appointment during my planned trip, so I am sort of treating this one like a business trip.

@kbl-thanks to you and your sister. It is a relief to get closure-to know that someone has died instead of left wondering. I pray you will continue to be at peace as you wind down this earthly life.
