Re: Breaking Research News from sources other than Breastcancer.org
Morrigan - Thanks for more details re your situation and knowledge of these vaccines. I'm trying to keep something of an eye on what's going on with them.
Zen - I agree that even if some of us aren't able to benefit, it will be really nice to have something for those down the road. When Bio n Tech created their Covid vaccine, they said they also had some breast cancer things in the works that might be ready in 3-5 years. Well, that was about 3 years ago now, so I'm watching for more from them. I did see where the NHS vaccine being tested (noted in the post a couple/few above this) is connected to Bio n Tech in some way, but apparently breast cancer is not involved at this point.

"How did your trial work out! It's my understanding that the vaccines being touted these days are for triple negative and nothing for ER positive, but not totally sure. "
So far, so good. I'm 4 years out from my DMX and 2 years out from completing the trial. It was a Phase 2 trial, only 115 participants and obviously still early in the cycle, the intention was as a prevention for recurrence, not prevention for cancer at all.
My understanding is the preliminary data is very promising but, nothing has been published yet (probably in 2-3 years).
The vaccine target HER2+ breast cancer, there are quite a few vaccines in trial for Triple Negative and HER2+ but, I do agree I haven't seen much for ER+/HER-

Just saw this today…so exciting…feels like so close…
Re: Breaking Research News from sources other than Breastcancer.org
Just hoping we have "something" out in the next 5 yrs. Not just for us but all that could be impacted in the future.

How did your trial work out! It's my understanding that the vaccines being touted these days are for triple negative and nothing for ER positive, but not totally sure. I asked my oncologist if he thought a viable vaccine would be out there fairly soon, i.e. at a point where it could benefit me, not to mention others, and he cautioned me not to get my hopes up too much, but then added that sometimes things can change rapidly. Just more luck of the draw I guess.
Re: Breaking Research News from sources other than Breastcancer.org
There are several vaccines in clinical trials in the US for Breast Cancer, HER2+ in particular.
I participated in a trial for DC1 Vaccine, which sounds similar, they took my WBC and combined them with DC1 with the intent of teaching my immune system to target any cancer cells
Re: Allergy due to Tamoxifen?
I have been wondering the same thing. I have been taking Tamoxifen for 1 year and experiencing seasonal allergy symptoms for the first time in my life. I have lived in the same house for 20 years, so it cannot be due to being in a new location. Then, while at the dermatologist today, he said that I must be allergic to one of the active ingredients in Neosporin - which I've been using my entire life. I have not yet met with an allergist - but I am seeing my oncologist next week and will be discussing these new found allergies.
Unofficially Diagnosed?
Hi all!
I am 42, and went for a diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound yesterday. I’ve been going since I was 30 since my mother had bc at the age of 40. I had noticed some tethering of the underside of my left breast and then felt around and found a new lump. I have firbrocystic breasts with multiple cysts and fibroadenomas in both breasts. I have had two fibroademonas removed from my right breast. Following my ultrasound the radiologist came in with her calendar and asked when I noticed the lump. When I explained to her that I had first noticed the change in breast appearance she asked to see what I was referring to. I showed her both breast with arms relaxed and then both with arms raised. The left breast has what I call a double chin with two dimples. Upon seeing what I was talking about she nodded and said yeah we’re going to biopsy two spots. One being the one I noticed as being new and one in an area that I have previously been told was a cyst. Prior to her leaving I asked if she felt that the areas she was concerned about were really something and she said “yes I do” while looking like she was delivering disappointing news.
I don’t get to go for my biopsies until the 18th and I am not freaking out, but do like to be properly prepared. This is the first time I have straight up been told that the Dr was concerned.
I feel as though she unofficially let me know that from what she is seeing, I have cancer. I know that I may not but feel like realistically the odds are that I do.
Am I wrong for thinking this way?

@bailey.boo you look amazing!! You have a beautiful face and a super cute head!! It's so weird being bald isn't it?? I hope your taste comes back soon!
@grammie2 I'm so glad your platelet count went up!! Yay!! Hopefully your bowels will be good to you!
@halyy2024 I'm so very sorry to hear about the sickness and then your poor husband! Oh my goodness honey! You truly are Superwoman!
Just to let you all know, I also have melanoma IN my eye. Monday I will go under for a plaque placement behind and on top of my eyeball to deliver radiation over 4 days. I get to come home after but my eye will be sewn mostly shut and il wear a lead eye patch. I am so very scared and don't know how to control my anxiety. I've had a few surgeries but this one takes the cake on being scared. Please pray for minimal pain and anxiety 🙏 I should be happy that this will shrink and kill the tumor but oh boy.
My 3rd chemo is postponed until June 11 so I can heal a bit.
God bless you all and prayers coming for you guys!
Yes, my good eye is dry, bad one waters too much sometimes and is dry other times. Makes seeing kind of difficult 😕
Re: Starting Chemo April 2024 Support Thread
Ughhh! That sounds horrible. I’m so sorry you’re going through everything you are at once right now. No more bad stuff! I’ll be thinking of you and praying enough already. Hopefully round 3 will go easy for you!
Thanks for the baldy support 💕 My taste buds are still a little off but improving by the day. I definitely can’t handle anything with a lot of salt or too much tart lately. I lost about 10lbs or so but my scale needs a power cord, and I haven’t weighed myself this past week. I bet I’ve gained a couple back.
