Re: Can we have a forum for "older" people with bc?
I am 70 and have had 4 separate cancers, including 2 different/separate breast cancers. I began in 1997 at 42 with a tumor found on my second mammogram. Then, in 2003, when I was ready to celebrate my 5-year mark of being cancer-free, I was found to have both uterine and fallopian cancers. I went through a hysterectomy and chemo (bald again). In 2017, my tumor marker tests were elevated, so my oncologist ordered a bunch of scans, and a PET Scan found a tumor in my breast. I had another lumpectomy, radiation, and chemo again. This was my worst experience with chemo by far. I often wonder if I would go back into treatment if I get more cancer, but I always assume I will keep fighting as long as I have breath in my body. Life is precious, and I am far from done with living…
This is how old I feel. I always think of myself in my early to mid-30s…
