Sondra, someone fussing over you is probably the thing you needed without realizing it. Moms certainly can fuss over you like that for sure. I am glad you are out of hospital and glad your husband is happy being fussed over as well. In pocket for less pain as well.

Mel Ugh insomnia.. the worst! Hope your able to get some restful sleep tonight. It does take some time for your nail beds to heal and glad they’re looking good. I was never patient enough to get my nails done but always admired others pretty nails. Now my hands are a wreck from Xeloda! When I do paint my nails i use light neutral colors not to draw attention to them . Hope your enjoying the beautiful weather this weekend here in the NE. Eagles season is coming soon!

We are enjoying this gorgeous boating weather this weekend. Working around my DH and him gimping around with a likely torn meniscus and my SE from Xeloda this week. The season is too short and somehow we just pull it together and go! Our son came down yesterday and we went out to a lovely outdoor dinner by the water and also caught the sunset. I always say to myself keep going now because I don’t know when I won’t be able to do go more!

Hey Mel - thanks for the shout out. We've been road tripping out west for the last week and a half. I've been reading along, but it's hard to post while riding in the truck. When we stop, we're on the go until we collapse in bed. I'm going to sleep for three days when I get home, but we're having fun.

Any of us who lost our Mom's can empathize with each other. My Mom married my father, initially he was an alcoholic, never abusive but when she told him to stop drinking, he just stopped. He was a chronic paranoid schizophrenic who was in and out of the mental hospital with lots of electric shock therapy. She left the day he had a knife because the mafia was looking for him, she did not want us to grow up around that. We saw him every week and he lived with his parents, was compliant with his meds as well. Mom was strong but also anxiety ridden, I think I get that anxiety from her though I don't have to look after kids. She was a strong lady who was modest and tended to think less of her ability and talents for cooking, knitting and so on. Always nice, can count on one hand how many times she had to spank. She always took us upstairs. I still miss her so much after 5 years since she died. She died in peace with older brother putting a hand on her chest telling her she could rest now and dying. I got to tell her she was a great mom as well. A stroke left her almost non verbal but she was not in pain. I am glad for that.

enjoy the fussing as long as you can. Cancer is like a merry go round that never stops. Other people get on to ride with you, but there turn to get off always comes. Ours does not. I would love nothing more to have my dear sweet mother fussing over me. Now all I can do is talk /pray to her. Talking with Dad sounds special. I’m hoping your visit will bind your family even closer.

intolight~ I use Walmart as well nothing like their curbside for sure. My DH has been saying lately that Walmart and Aldi were worth going to vs giant. That giant was way too expensive. What $200 would get was 8 bag of groceries. Now you only get 4 bags. When you unpack it you don’t know what you bought because it’s not a lot. It’s ridiculous!!!

I’m having insomnia again.its a kicker. Makes for a long night and longer days.
I used to go and have my nails done every 5 weeks and when I got Covid I stopped going. I decided I was going to do them myself again with the sally Hansen gel nails. Well I’m pleased to say that my nails have all healed and are all back to the way they were before I had tips on some of them. But that ruined my nailbed. Luckily it healed. I’ll never do that again!!! Ouch!!!happy with what I have now by far! Going To try to count sheep. Caught some of the Olympics today. It was very entertaining, usually I watch everyday I’ve always loved the summer Olympics! Go USA! Go UK! Go Canada! So much fun to watch!

I made it home yesterday on like the worlds longest day, but I made it, with actually not many painkillers (uh, paying for that today lol) and only one small break down. Resting today and watching some Olympics on the European feeds.

Unfortunately my mom is clucking around like Im dying and its driving me up a wall. They got out my dads old walker which is helpful, but that was a bit much to see. The worst are the deep gin thoughts she delivers for hours on end at cocktail hour in the evening (how she manages HER hip pain) about oh you know who died and committed suicide? and you are just going to have to accept people helping you. Well sure, fine, folks helping at the airport (Heathrow was amazing) and asking for help sure, but being constantly asked do you want this, do you want that, here you probably want this (I dont), etc. She even put a barf bucket next to the bed :( All her references for cancer come from caring for her father who died 40 years ago of melanoma. On the plus side she called the hospital in Milwaukee and arranged for me to have a wig consult on Tuesday which was probably the most valuable and loving thing she could have done. Dad and I are doing a daddy daughter trip to the medical sock shop.

My dad well, he knows the score about pain and working with bad body parts, etc so he's given me some space. Its a bit of a relief to just sit with him and listen to him go on about garden plans even if Im only half listening.

At any rate, Im happy just to be home and spending time with them and a different environment. Things will iron out and settle down. Except Tuesday when my aunt and uncle are apparently coming by and mom wants me to tell them now (its a fairly special relationship I have with them). My aunt just had a mammogram recall. THANKS MOM.

The iron and blood Wednesday helped but the iron really gave me the runs quite a bit which has been annoying. But I will say its fab having people make me food and bring it to me:) Hubs is reclining with a beer and a nap today and he is happy like a pig in mud with a car to go get 'stuff' lol. If he's happy and having a great time, and is getting fussed over as well, then Im happy too.

Ill check in time to time but Im going to try and clock off from cancer as much as I can.

I had a good day overall, best part was going to see Deadpool and Wolverine, best movie I have scene in years. Love Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds together. We will see how sleep goes but I do not mind. Waited a couple of months to see it and it was well worth the wait.
