Winter is visiting us again. My laptop says it's 38 degrees outside, and I can see the sun is shining. I decided against playing golf as did the other women in the group. I plan to go to the gym and do grocery shopping afterwards. The Winn Dixie that was our main supermarket for 30 plus years just sold and is being converted into a Rouses Supermarket. Rouses started as a Louisiana supermarket and has expanded into several other southern states. I will miss WD because it was so familiar. I already had the option to shop at two other Rouses with a little extra driving.
Cindy, you could start a Handy Woman business if you were so inclined. DH replaced the icemaker unit in a Kenmore refrigerator about 20 years ago. It was quite a job and involved language, but he succeeded.
It's income tax return time again. For years I went to an accountant but with excellent software, it's easy to do our return myself.

@wren44 - Count me in your pocket too. Good luck with these. I absolutely know the sitting around and waiting for hours with the CT and bone scans. I have a friend who comes and picks me up and accompanies me, and we usually start out in the mid morning where I get the injection, then I get the CT; we go to lunch, and then go back and do the bone scan, before leaving. It does take several hours like you noted, but it does help with a friend and that break in the sessions where we can go get lunch or whatever. Again, best of luck!

Wally, Your bbq pork shoulder blades sound delicious. Since DH can’t eat pork I’ll have to wait until spring to get takeout pork bbq for myself while DH has chicken.
Minus, I hope your flu recovery is continuing.
Dinner tonight was spinach and ricotta ravioli in Rao’s. Yay for real food.

@wren44 in your pocket! Waiting around for the bone scan, ugh. I know that stuff has to "settle" on the bones after it's injected, but I'm usually very impatient, c'mon let's get this over with already...

@intolight-a man at church has influenced my thinking. He has been on maintenance chemo for quite some time. During "chemo week," he and his wife plan nothing and just stick to close to home. But on weeks 2 and 3 he lives a pretty good life-he's a song leader and active in various ministries, socializes etc. He also looks pretty good which I am embarrassed to admit is a factor for me. If my chemo was like his-horrible for one week but back to living life for 2 more weeks, I would do it. But I won't know until I am in that position and know how "horrible" the horrible is and how well I feel on the off weeks. God grant you wisdom.

@rink23 I'm really sorry you're having to go through this. The biopsy should show what kind of breast cancer it is and that will determine treatment. You might also want to request a more thorough genetic test (ie. Signatera, Tempus) to see if there is any relevant genetic expression that might be driving your cancer. Some kinds of breast cancer mean rounds of chemo. Others mean that you start with an oral treatment. You will know when you talk to your oncologist. Until you know what kind of cancer it is, you won't know quite how to proceed, but there are many here with triple negative, ER+, HER2+, etc, who can give advice then.

For neuropathy, I got great results taking a sugar-lowering drug, Jardiance. Peripheral blood sugar irritates nerves and this drug works so well for diabetes-induced neuropathy that they are considering moving it to the first-line treatment recommendation. My MO was willing to prescribe it for me, although I am not diabetic or prediabetic. I had significant neuropathy for several years and assumed it would be permanent, but now its pretty much gone, no pain, and just a bit of numbness in one area if its really cold out. It seems that even if the problem was caused drugs rather than by high blood sugar, as is the case for diabetic neuropathy, it may still help a lot (ie way better than gabapentin or accupuncture) to try to lower the blood sugar.
