It's very common for those who are questioning their care to get a second (or even third or fourth) opinion - have you considered this option? Many people find doing so either gives them peace of mind as it confirms their original doctor's recommendations or opens up some other options to discuss the benefits and risks of one path vs. another. Hi @amerli, A confirmation of a treatment plan from a team at a large teaching hospital is a reassuring sign but technically is not a second opinion. Seeing or having an online consult with an oncologist at another institution would cover that.
It is very common to be given a proposed treatment plan with final decisions made after surgery. The postsurgical pathology is far more accurate than the biopsy pathology which is based on a small tumor sample and imaging. If there are any new findings in the surgical pathology, treatment can become more or less aggressive than first proposed.
If you still have doubts about the recommended treatment at this point you could seek a second opinion then. All the best.

Betrayal, your description of winter is so vivid that you make me shiver. LOL. I wish I could share the beautiful day we're having, sunny and mild. As I write, I realize I should take a walk. I had planned to go to Hobby Lobby and shop for soft yarn to crochet lap afghans but I don't know if that plan will come to fruition. I opened up the Turbo Tax program and completed filing our federal tax return. So that's done. The deadline for state filing is May 15 but I'll get to it before then, using the software on the state department of revenue web site. We have income tax in Louisiana. Also really high sales tax.
My jigsaw puzzle is progressing, maybe about a third completed. Working on it isn't the best posture for my back. I find the whole process somewhat mysterious, the way you can pick up a puzzle piece that doesn't look particularly right for a spot and it fits right into place.
I read a recipe for pizza dough, thinking I might do a home-made pizza for dinner. Read another recipe for easy sauce. Then decided that tonight would be a good night for take-out pizza. I've been doing a lot of cooking. It takes dh no more than ten minutes to make the pickup and the pizza is hot. We don't do home delivery. I love pizza and seldom eat it.
We'll tune in the Super Bowl even though we're not fans of either team. I may even watch some of the halftime because of all the hoopla. The staging is always interesting.

@norah2024 - Is Ondansetron (Zofran) an option for you? Dissolves under tongue for nausea. It is like a miracle for me in that it seems to relax my stomach and stop nausea in its tracks. Comes in 4 mg and 8 mg dosages. Magical - I swear by it. Hope this helps. Healing thoughts for you - Terry B.

I’m sorry you are going through this. I am having similar issues, but because of fluid in my abdomen. I almost stopped eating.
I spoke to a dietitian at the cancer clinic, and high calorie, high protein is the best thing, but small portions as to not overwhelm you. Believe me - I understand this!
I’m doing small chia pudding for breakfast, or a smoothie with yogurt and fruit. Also small mouthfuls of cottage cheese. Egg salad seems to sit ok, as does plain toast. I can tolerate some juices too. I see some of these may not work for you. But the important thing is the calories.
To look at some food just turns my stomache. I can’t make dinner - or eat any meat.
Good luck, I really hope you turn the corner on this, but I absolutely understand what you are going thru.

I am a huge fan of the Olympics and last night's opening ceremony was spectacular in scope and breadth. The presenting cast was varied including some of my favorites and the theme is harmony. So thankful I will have this to watch until February 22 and not have to watch any news. I was surprised that Mariah Carey as the opening singer and what an honor for her.
Andrea Bocelli singing "Nessun Dorma" by Puccini brought back a memory of visiting Lucca, Puccini's birthplace, where our lovely tour guide sang it outside his home. She had a spectacular voice and it was the first time I'd heard a female sing it. I just love him, but the honor of best male voice for this still belongs to Pavarotti.

Taco, envy your weather and if I could ship you some of the ice from my yard, it would help with your drought. It may be March before we thaw at this rate. A large warehouse in Berks county was just purchased for $87 million for the same purpose and the people there are not happy either. Concern is about property values and humane treatment.
cindyny, our winds are to be between 50-60 mph today which means we will hear loud whistling for much of the day. Not looking forward to them. Temps will be below zero before we discuss the wind chill factor. So in the 60's sounds good to me. Loved what you did to your jeans.

While cleaning out drawers in my DD's old room, I uncovered a counted cross stitch which depicts a Mickey and Minnie Mouse wedding theme. I can't believe I paid as much as I did for it and obviously I have had it for years. I never got around to doing it and I should do it for their anniversary (they have been married for 10 years) which is in September. I haven't done counted cross stitch in a while and I have this lovely wooden frame on feet where I can work on it while seated on the couch. I should dig it out and start working on it now that I will b ehouse bound for awhile.
I once did a very intricate one for my BFF which took me over 300 hours to complete. It had an involved border, a center that was personalized to her and her DH, and I can remember working on it as we drove to Fl to visit Disney with our children. I couldn't use the frame then so I had to rely on just a medium hoop for each section. It had to be carefully plotted given the border demands. I have one of the Irish blessing in my bedroom that I had done for my uncle as a gift which was returned to me when he died. I used to do pillows, wall plaques, plastic mesh plant containers, etc in counted cross stitch.
Asked DH to check oil tank gauge the other day and he kept putting it off, citing we had received a delivery before the storm. I finally insisted he do it after dinner on Thursday and it read 10%, so he made a quick call to the oil company and they delivered yesterday before this cold weather front moved in. When we first moved here our oil schedule was not regular and there were a few times in bad weather when we ran out of oil so they did emergency deliveries of 5 gallon cans on foot. I don't want that experience again, especially when our steep driveway has ice or snow on it. They used to walk up my neighbor's driveway and then have to cut across the lawn to our driveway. What a haul and climb.
Working on a genealogy challenge with my cousin. She has a family member that sort of pulled a disappearing act, but then may have emerged under a different name. Trying to parse this out is the challenge since the new name was a name of an old friend.

@runor I will keep it all in mind. When I am running low on yogurt but have lots of sour cream, I add the yogurt and sour cream together, bit of water and mio, blend up in magic bullet. Making yogurt sounds lioke fun.
My schedule is later, yesterday fell asleep til 4 am from about 9pm on couch, videos played in the back ground, got up and took myself to bed, slept another almost 7 hours in between using the washroom twice. I add all the sleep together so it really is quite a bit. Will get stuff done. Part of the problem was streaming the 1984 Firestarter and that pushed stuff later as well. It is a bit cheesy but sticks close to the book overall and George C Scott. Drew Barrymore did a good job as well.
As far as meals, debating what kind of beans to make up. Those can be done later, need a quick one plate breakfast since sink stuff is still stacked up, want some energy. I think I will have a quick burrito, bean and beef variety from Walmart, put a bit of sour cream and queso. Once eaten can clear the sink, clean it out and prepare for other meals, need to brown up a tube of ground beef. Later need to heat up some ground beef.
EDIT cleared out the sink from the soak last night but decided to use fewer dishes, grabbed a beef and tomato macaroni pack, put a ton of cheese, will add queso and sour cream and some taco and sour cream and onion seasoning. Will eat up last two slices of garlic bread. Might be a higher fat than protein content so this time will take two immodium to avoid problems. May do a yogurt smoothie later today that includes some yogurt, find a veggie without much taste like some peas or green beans. Put some sour cream and water and mio fruit punch flavour. Yummy. Could even put some chopped beans, chick peas or whatever and use that mix. I will post if it is good and if creative.
