This is before everything turned brown.
Re: Can we have a forum for "older" people with bc?
We "attended" a wedding yesterday by watching it on UTube. DH's sister died some years ago and her dh married his SO at his condo in the Naples/Marco Island area. The ceremony was at a church, and the only attendees were the minister and one guest and the bridal couple. We got the UTube invitation in an email. BIL is a retired physician and he was a wonderful caregiver for dh's sister during a long illness. He grieved for at least two years, maybe more, after her passing. DH and I are glad that he found someone to be a companion. His SO was a neighbor in the retirement community in St. Louis, where he became a resident. A good Valentine's Day story.
Tomorrow is Mardi Gras Day. Our YMCA is closed. It closes at every opportunity. Eyes rolling emoticon. I am committed to playing golf if the course condition allows carts to drive on the fairways. I don't play when it's cart path only.
I have one lower corner of my jigsaw puzzle to complete. I won't start another one because the position of sitting and bending forward over the coffee table is not good for my back. And once a puzzle is started, it serves as a magnet, drawing me.
I bought some yarn and am crocheting a lap afghan in a rose color. The pattern is overly simple. I enjoy crocheting and hope the afghan will find an owner to use it, maybe at a nursing home. Fortunately, my hands don't seem bothered by the movement.
So far, today is rather gloomy out, in the lower 50's. Coffee is tasting good.
Happy Monday to all.
Re: 💗 February 2026 Surgery Roll Call—Let’s Do This Together 💗
Hi. First post. I had a lumpectomy on Feb 9th. DCIS in right breast. They did a reduction and lift of both breasts after cancer was removed. I am going to need radiation next.
It did not hurt as bad as I feared. I had to stay the night in the hospital because it took a long time for me to wake up after anesthesia. I'm glad I had that first night there. I was able to get up and walk to the bathroom.
I had a cushion for my seat belt and a pillow to hold to.my chest for the car ride home. That was needed. At home I could move better than they said I would. Not doing to much is important so don't ignore that or the restrictions.
After 3 days I could shower. I came home with a surgery bra and gauze padding in the bra. I was scared to take the bra off. When I got my first look at my new chest it was not gruesome. I was amazed if looked that good!
Surgery bra experience.. I am 5'9" and weigh 280 lbs. I am a big girl. They sent me home in a 3xl size bra with velcro front closure and Velcro straps. I purchased 3xl bras with zipper front from Amazon. Getting it zipper was a nightmare. It fit but it was smaller than the one I c.ame home with. I ended up putting it back on. I ordered a $68 velcro front closure and it was perfect. The $10 zip bra will likely work down the road. I would advise staying with velcro for awhile.
I have my first post Op tomorrow morning with surgical oncologist. Then another post Op the next day with the plastic surgeon. Pathology report says I had clear margins. Whew..
I'm finding it helpful to take this one step at a time and tell myself one step closer to complete healing.. I'm grateful for a place to put these words and read others words.

Re: So...whats for dinner?
Weather update from west Texas is currently 43 but I expect 20’s-40’s for the next several days. Weather is exactly why I made soup tonight. It’s Zuppa Tuscana from an instagram post (I had it my BFF’s last month and loved it). Normally, I don’t go for spicy food but the small amount of red pepper flakes in this give it a tasty and manageable kick.
Re: Doing Well on Aromatase Inhibitors (AIs)
I am also on Arimidex for 10 years based on the Breast Cancer Index test and have about one more year to go. I’ve been taking the Prolia injections every 6 months since starting the AI. I’m also seeing an endocrinologist once a year and will transition to his care re: Prolia after my oncologist releases me. I’ve gone from osteoporosis to osteopenia so the injections are working. I’ve tolerated it all pretty well. The endo monitors my progress through annual blood tests, It’s really difficult to know whether my aches and pains are from older age, osteoarthritis, Arimidex, or a combination of all three, it is what it is. Love to all. 💕
