Re: IDC and Mental Health
Sounds like you’re on top of it and doing all the right things! Just keep moving forward with the information you have and keep listening to your doctors (as well as your own intuition!).
Re: PET scan shows lit up chest lymph nodes after 4 years NED
Barb, I didn't have a 'recurrence' of medastinal nodes; I had them from my first diagnosis in Oct, '12. Lit up like a Christmas tree on my PET scan back then. But I was starting chemo within a week or two anyhow, so my MO let it go with just that for the time being. Following a lumpectomy in April, I went on for rads in June. Both my RO and my Internist (his wife is a BC survivor of many years) were quite worried about those nodes, so my RO put together a different type of rads for the sternum area concurrent with my regular whole-breast rads; just one extra zap per day for the 28 rads. They made a lead alloy plate with a cut-out to match the pattern the nodes were in. The rads had something to do with shallow beam electrons which could be calibrated to travel just a fraction of an inch below the sternum and not reach my heart, esophagus or lungs.
With that done, I waited almost three months and was sent in for a new PET scan last Oct -- which was now clear!
In doing some research on these nodes, I read Many times that with a certain number of positive axillary nodes (can't remember the number), one very often has mediastinal nodes involved as well. I hope everyone's doctors are checking for this.
Barb, sending hopes and warm wishes that your test will prove negative, and if not, that they will get on it quickly and kick these nodes to the curb.

Re: Anyone with enlarged mediastinal lymph node?
ParakeetsRule-
Thank you! I’m still in shock! There are great doctors out there and he’s definitely one of them! No insurance or debit cards involved. Just a heartfelt call from a caring doctor who doesn’t know me but wants the best for me! Who knew?!
Re: HER2 Positive-anyone 10 years out?
Just stopped by to say hello! November 6, 2022 will be my 20 year milestone.
Re: Can we have a forum for "older" people with bc?
Puffin, you & I must post at the same time, last two times anyway. It’s good you’re getting in home care. And I hope you qualify for any and all additional aid.
We had a weird lunch date today. We picked up our friends to go and they let us know the place we wanted to go to was closed. But they had another place in mind. We got there and music was playing on the patio, but it was so hot we headed inside - door locked, it was closed. Ok, we know a place where the food is delicious. We get there and there were cars in the parking lot so a good sign. Turns out they were workers vehicles, and it too was closed as they put in new flooring or something. We ended up at an outdoor seasonal restaurant on the Mohawk River. Great burgers, onion rings and some seafood. With even better shakes, soft serve ice cream, sundaes etc. It wasn’t an original plan but fit the bill after 3 closed restaurants.
We had a severe storm roll west to east across the state. A tornado hit Rome; winds were 50, 60 70 mph - they recorded an 87 mph wind in Glens Falls; trees down all over; a local car dealership had a power line snap and it set 2 vehicles in the lot on fire, melted and scorched the pavement; 99k without power; and we had thunder, lightening and a torrential downpour.
I heard Chicago also had horrific weather and hoping Sandy made out ok.
Jackie, your daughter was very lucky she wasn’t severely injured.
Hoping we all have a great day tomorrow.

we fostered baby bottle kittens and did the color coding collars. They were so small we had to use ribbons.
