Re: So...whats for dinner?
I just caught up on reading about several days of meals that all sound delicious. The taco casserole has the same ingredients as nachos, my Tex Mex favorite.
On Monday night at Clancy's I had the dark meat broasted chicken meal and enjoyed it. The sides are coleslaw and fries, and the coleslaw is good. Tuesday and Wednesday nights on the journey home, we stayed at Drury Inns, which have the Kickback buffet from 5:30 to 7:00 and also three free alcoholic drinks. We combine our three into one for a vodka martini for me and a gin martini for dh.
The buffet on Tuesday night featured taco makings and the buffet on Wednesday night featured pulled pork. We didn't go away hungry or dissatisfied.
Last night at home, we had a Subway tuna sandwich with lots of veggies.
I have thawed ground beef and bulk Italian sausage that traveled with us. I'll have to make something with it for dinner.
DH is in the kitchen making one of his elaborate breakfasts. He went to Piggly Wiggly yesterday afternoon and stocked up on his breakfast groceries. It always takes me some time to transition from LA to MN and MN to LA, but dh hits the ground in stride.
Wally, others have already expressed dismay about your dh's dental issues. I feel the same. And great news that the new med was approved. Those neighbors of yours are the worst. I'd like to say something political about their politics but am holding my tongue.
We always buy an appliance from a store that includes installation and taking away the old appliance.
Now to the chores of the day. Reversing what happened four months ago when we departed. Hauling things inside and putting them away.
Re: So...whats for dinner?
Eating out including takeout has become very expensive. I bring food with me, buy something premade at a supermarket or take out from the hospital cafe where prices are lower to benefit employees.
Wally, Yay for your DH's drug approval! I hope the new dishwasher goes in easily.
Nance, Potatoes, cheese and ham sounds like a combo that should always taste good. I hope your recipe isn’t the exception.
Dinner tonight was leftover pizza.
Re: So...whats for dinner?
Wally - Agreeing with Nance - I'm glad the drug got dispensed and hope it works. Sorry to hear about your dishwasher saga. My son installed a new one for me a couple of years ago. But honestly I never use it. One person usually eating only one meal a day doesn't seem to produce enough dishes to justify it in my mind.
Re: So...whats for dinner?
Minus, I buy Aldi’s Italian bread and seedtastic bread (a dupe of Dave’s Killer bread) which are both pretty good. I’m sure neither holds a candle to Eric’s sourdough.
Dinner tonight was pizza made from Aldi’s dough. It looked a bit rough since I haven’t mastered the art of stretching dough one handed but it tasted good.
Re: So...whats for dinner?
Dinner tonight was chicken and mushrooms in sherry cream sauce.
Re: Can we have a forum for "older" people with bc?
I put up a long post… someone was texting me, when I came back it was all gone.
The gist was … my finger is ok. I don’t know it’s there unless I use it to grab something.
My garage, I hope he completes it before I leave. I bought a 5 gal bucket of Kilz premium for the garage and I think the temp needs to be above a certain degree to use it. One day sale at Lowe’s saved me $80. Fingers crossed it gets used before I leave.
Outerbanks - I haven’t been there in 15+ years, it was very beautiful. But it’s beyond me why they let people build out far. On Duck & Corolla I’ve seen the ocean come up over the road. Celebrities had homes out there.
I completed the digging up of the invasive grass. I wish I had never laid eyes on it! It must have been a sale and I wanted something to fill. No further injuries to report.

After:
The invasive grass runners were under iris rhizomes, and even under the low voltage lighting wire. Hate it.
Tomorrow’s challenge is to put up a solar panel for our Ring camera out on the garage. I’ve been watching where it would get the most sun, but come winter when I’m not here, who knows. I’m trying to keep the battery charged vs have it run out and not record.
It was 39 here overnight; 56 outside when I got up, to a 61 degree house. I put the mini split on to use the heat pump. I closed the door to the kitchen to limit the area getting heated. It didn’t feel super warm, more like a gentle hairdryer blowing in the room. But when I went in the kitchen I froze, so yes it was working fine.
I’m headed to bed, where I’ll put on the electric blanket. Laughing because it will be 80 this weekend. Nite!
