Re: Can we have a forum for "older" people with bc?
Carole, for my grandniece I called myself the “diaper fairy.” I bought her diapers until she was out of them! My niece was a single mom and I figured why not. It was a great help, as I’m sure you purchasing them will be for your family.
Well the low volt spot light ended up on last night. I looked out and to my surprise it was shining brightly. I think from rain, it might have acted like a conductor of sorts on the rusted wires. Because tonight it’s not working, and there is no rain (yet). The 2 new ones showed up tonight. That’s a job for tomorrow in the daylight.
Busy day tomorrow - thyroid ultrasound first, with endocrinologist follow up in the AM. Oral surgeon in the PM.
High tomorrow of 57. I’ll get out my jeans and long sleeve shirt tonight for appointments tomorrow.
Not much else happening here. Hope it’s quiet where you are too.

Have a great trip, Betrayal. We've been through the Canal twice, once in each direction. Great memories.

Life is full of beauty. Notice it. Notice the bumble bee, the small child, and the smiling faces. Smell the rain, and feel the wind. Live your life to the fullest potential, and fight for your dreams.
Teaching the Immune System to Fight Cancer
Aug 22, 2025
A new type of drug may be able to make the immune system attack cancer. Dr. Benjamin Schrank explains his research.
Antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) are a relatively new type of medicine for breast cancer. Enhertu (chemical name: fam-trastuzumab-deruxtecan-nxki) and Dato-DXd (brand name: Datroway) are two ADCs used to treat breast cancer.
Dr Benjamin Schrank and colleagues have developed a new type of ADC that combines an antibody with a toxin — called an antibody-toxin conjugate — that teaches the immune system to recognize and attack cancer cells.
Listen to the episode to hear Dr. Schrank explain:
- the antibody and the toxin component of the medicine
- how the new medicine works
- possible side effects
- next steps for the research

Re: So...whats for dinner?
Drool, Illimae!!
Carole, I hear your angst. I am not so much concerned with civil war as I am with the authoritarian stuff…time will tell.
I have no idea what will be for dinner. I forgot to thaw the sausage I wanted to use for a spaghetti dinner. Good news on DH's meds. I called early this morning (to the specialty pharmacy specializing in cancer meds only—located in Arizona) and they will be shipping out the meds fed ex, arriving tomorrow. "Only" $2,000. Grateful for the max out of pocket for drugs. They wouldn't ship till we paid up front.
Re: So...whats for dinner?
We had tacos last night and I’m making a big salad tonight topped with cheddar and leftover fried chicken strip pieces. But, I thought I’d share my wonderful breakfast since the avocado toast was just beautiful.
Re: So...whats for dinner?
Grilled Prosciutto (Italian ham) and sharp cheddar cheese sandwich. Used up my leftover napa cabbage to make a slaw for the side.
DH just ordered tools to saw down the floor. Nightmares.
Re: I say YES. YOU say NO....Numero Tre! Enjoy!
ruthbru, I hear you and am looking forward to my next escape. The week in Alaska just wasn't enough.
