traveltext - interesting suggestion which of course will be overlooked. Just heard a doc from Karmanos Cancer Center in Detroit say that only 1% of breast cancer patients are men. Just because men are such a small minority doesn’t mean they don’t need support. We have a junior women’s club in my community. They sponsor a breast cancer walk/run in May and collect donations from local businesses which then display pink ribbons on the exterior of their locations. I asked them to consider including the metastatic breast cancer ribbon - I included all sorts of statistics and educational material. Got some hogwash BS answer that they just do fundraisers for breast cancer and don’t provide education. Not giving up….

@candy-678 I hope it is nothing but it is possible that you have a different kind of cancer-say triple negative in that breast. Let's hope it is a benign cyst. Please keep us posted.

@candy-678 Short answer, yes it could be a new cancer BUT it is just as likely it could be benign. If PCP is concerned enough to recommend a mammogram to rule it out, would be worth it to make sure using a mammogram or ultrasound.

@candy-678 Ugh sorry that you have to deal with the stress of follow-up on this. Can very well go either way but of course I will be praying for a whole lot of nothing going on! You know how it is …once you have cancer many things get called suspicious that may be called as normal in the non-cancer patient. So that is what I am hoping for, fingers crossed and big hugs and strength your way.

Candy - here for pocket duty for you as you deal with the stress of a suspicious finding in your other breast. I pray that it is benign🙏🏻🙏🏻. My MO does not have me get a mammogram on my remaining breast.

That's one of the things I like about that web site - they have stories from women (and men!) who made all sorts of stories: implants, DIEP flap, lumpectomy, explants, prophylactic. I am vocal about AFC, because it doesn't get nearly as much attention as mound reconstructions, and some doctors still push back against women who choose flat. But I try to make the point that many women have very successful breast replacement procedures. Every choice makes you roll dice on the statistics. BreastReconstruction.org wants people to have a broad range of experiences to read about, so they can make as informed a decision as they want.
