Re: Can we have a forum for "older" people with bc?
carole, glad you like your new hair.
Cindyny, let us know how your new hairdo works out.
We are in Port Quetzal, Guatemala. None of the cruise excursions appealed to us so we left the ship to explore the local vendors. Got a lot of nice items for a decent price. Bought some embroidered table runners, baseball caps, flower hair barrette for DGD, local coffee, etc. All for Christmas gifts. It us warm but to tolerable due to a nice breeze. Had a nice discussion with a Guatemalan gentleman. He used to pick up cars in US for delivery to Guatemala, but is afraid to do it now. I don't blame him. He spoke English fluently.
Hope everyone had a great day. Waving "hi" to everyone.
Re: Can we have a forum for "older" people with bc?
My stylist shaped up my hair, and I like the result. I have very thick hair.
Yesterday I had a good conversation with my long-time friend, Carolyn, whose dh passed six weeks ago. She is grieving but she will eventually go on with life, just as Petite has done. Today I'm having lunch with her and two other women friends. Carolyn was already tiny and she has lost weight. She's having problems with eating and sleeping. Fortunately, she has a good support group of neighbors and family and friends.
Your photos are so colorful, Betrayal.
Hi to all.
Re: So...whats for dinner?
Tonight was a hot dog and chilli cheese tots, easy and good. I’ve been tired and nauseous this week, so favoring easy soups mostly. No idea about tomorrow but DH is probably on his own for dinner.
Re: So...whats for dinner?
Wally, Congrats on the good eye exam. I'm glad you made it to the dedication.
Minus, Living in the South really expanded my culinary repertoire. There are so many more potluck events where recipes are traded.
I used to go to St. Louis annually when DH attended a poultry breeding conference there. I always had some of the local barbecue which was distinctively different from that in other areas of the country. My favorite is still the northern Alabama white vinegar style but I enjoy trying the other varieties as well.
We drove out to an apple orchard today to buy apple cider donuts. I don’t generally like donuts but these are really good.
Dinner tonight was Kung Pao chicken on rice.
Re: recurrence with pleural effusion
@birdsndognow - Hi, I think I made a mistake about the pleural effusion I had and I now think it was only in my left lung, not both. Something called "atelectasis" also shows up at times on scans for many of us, and I can show that in both lungs, so I was confused. (That's essentially "collapsed lungs" although it can be very mild and come and go; that's what I get occasionally. Deep breathing and exercise seems to make that go away too.) My pleural effusion was considered mild and they do still monitor it regularly, but haven't seen it in probably 1.5 years now (I've got bone and liver mets). Again, it can go away, so don't despair. Things like the drugs, deep breathing, and exercise can all help. It's not always necessarily malignant either.

Betrayal - thanks for taking us along on your trip and I love seeing your pictures. Eight years ago we spent a week in Belize and took one day to cross into Guatemala to visit Tikal National Park. It was blistering hot in July however we found the temples fascinating. They were running a triathlon that day and the finish line was in the park. There was a good turnout but I can’t imagine running and biking in that heat.
Cindy -I can’t believe it’s time for you to return to Florida!
Carole - good for you getting out to play golf.
Busy week - had a groundbreaking for a Habitat for Humanity development of 10 homes in Tuesday, a very long lunch with a girlfriend yesterday, food pantry tomorrow and protesting on Saturday.
Waving hi to all.

The latest update: His dr believes he’ll be stable - so they lowered his meds and removed the tube to the ventilator. As of an hour ago he’s awake and breathing in his own. So far so good.
