I am not a member of the Republican party, but I respect some true conservatives like David Brooks and Max Boots, both opinion writers for major newspapers. They now find themselves without a party. I read David Brooks's farewell column yesterday in the NYT. He's moving on to some other pursuit he didn't reveal.
DH and I drove to the Mississippi Gulf Coast yesterday to the Beau Rivage Casino, just for something different to do. We played video poker for an hour, had lunch in the pleasant cafe, played another hour and then drove home. I broke even and dh lost $16. We're not gamblers. I'm always amused by people who sit down next to me and play the machine like they're running a race, punching buttons with a vengeance. I can't play that fast because my brain just doesn't operate quickly to identify the cards to keep and the cards to discard. There was a time when I would play slot machines, but I hate the new ones. They're a bewildering jungle of flashing lights and jangling noise. The opinion of an older person. LOL.
Today we're not supposed to get higher than the 30's and it's very windy. I have a short grocery list, but I it may have to wait. I'm glad we aren't having to deal with ice and snow. So far.
Spring is on the way.

So, ill most likely not be in the ibrance group once I move on to my 2nd line treatment. I'll miss this group . 😢😢

@Baily5. I would like to suggest something. Talk to you dr about your insomnia and mood. Aromatase inhibitors are brutal for me. I didn't sleep while on them. On a good night maybe 2 hours. I got horrible night sweats and my mood was awful. If I wasn't crying I wanted to hurt people. I was put on an antidepressant. It worked well but I kept needing to increase the dose until I turned into a walk zombie. I decided to switch oncology center for other reason and my new oncologist took ne off aromatase inhibitors and put me on Fulvestrant shots. Fir me that was a game changer. I don't like getting the shots but it gave me my life back. I can tolerate my husband's behavior better. He still stubborn and it is still annoying but I can deal with it better.

Baily5. This disease sucks and sometimes brings out the worse in us and those around us. I hope things get better. My husband and I foster kittens and my husband got annoyed with me for moving the kitten create. He said they will get cold because of the air leak. The kittens wanted to look out the window. The door should be replaced but my husband gets mad every time I suggest he hire someone and get it replaced. Here is what I texted my daughter.
"I wish I were a kitten. I tried to talk to your dad about getting the doors fixed and I am told I am exaggerating. I moved the kitten create to the door because they were trying to look out the widow and I am told there is to much cold air coming in the door and we need to put something there to block the air." (Its a french door, full glass.)

Good early morning ladies. We too made the decision to improve our home but not break the bank. Well, did Renewal by Andersen windows and spent $30,000. That included hurricane proof glass, off white color and removal of old windows. Window world and a few others would not touch our project due to the old windows being encased in aluminum. Why I wonder?
We hoped to save more money. We turned three windows that would open to solid built in. Reasoning plenty of other windows in that room to meet fire hazard requirements. One week after we paid for the windows our HVAC died. We had been coxing it along for 2 years, so not surprised.
Whatever we have invested in we bought warranties. And they are transferrable. It costs a bit more, more and money analysts don't agree, but we used a warranty on our fridge and it resulted in a brand new retail $1700 Frigidaire. We made the decision because our home has a VA assumable mortgage on it, and the appraisers hit hard as they are protecting a veteran. I love my home, but would like to sell one day and rent with a move into a townhouse, with no steps, that has a community feel to it.
Thanks everyone for the support and Mara I like your way of thinking. Focus on what you can change is a good mindset.

@sf-cakes Your post certainly resonates. 10 years ago when I was diagnosed and had a pleurex catheter I assumed I would never fly again so I cashed in my United points for some cookware. Even then I thought "what's the point?" But now that cookware is quite beat-up and I sometimes think of replacing it. I'm biting the bullet and getting a Toto toilet/bidet. Even if I don't live to enjoy it for long it will probably be helpful if I have long bouts of diarrhea, etc. Just thinking ahead😅

sf-cakes, I paint with watercolor. I’m out of a couple colors and can’t decide whether to get the normal tubes or the small ones.

@irishlove - So glad to hear things went well yesterday. When I had my endoscopy he took 5 biopsies, and no one told me it was normal. I thought he did it because I was a cancer patient. Good for you for telling the next appointment people that you're tired and need some downtime before scheduling anything more. I totally get it and I think the "medical system" needs to hear more of this from more of us. Too often some of us can feel like wanting to comply, wanting to make things easier for the system (I know I do), when it is to our detriment. I think it's only from us putting it out there that we are just too tired, too sick or whatever to "jump to it" that the message will get across that we need some good flexibility while we deal with this disease. I'm not talking about being angry and demanding, but just politely letting them know you might not be up to something for awhile or at all. Again, so glad that all went well, you are feeling ok, except for being tired (so understandable), and that things are looking good and up. Sending another hug 🤗.
@mara51506 - Funny about the peppers. Maybe it's the time of year and there's something in the air? I've been really liking peppers a lot too lately, and just bought myself some more yesterday. The red ones have really been hitting the spot for me, and I've been adding them to most things I cook, but most of all, I'm really enjoying them cold and raw. This has all come on seemingly out of nowhere.

I bought $81.50 worth of groceries yesterday. I made ham and vegetable impossible pies and stewed vegetables today. I have salmon loaf, sauerkraut and pork ribs, beef stroganoff, cheese and veg bake, Spanish rice (with hamburger), rice stir fry with eggs, and spaghetti on the planning board. Will put vegetarian (Catholic style) on one side of the freezer, and regular on the other side. Getting my stock of meals ready for when cooking without my left hand seems impossible. My electric kettle arrives today, and I have everything ready for it. The kitchen looks positively roomy!
No knitting so far today, just cooking. Did too much yesterday, and it is too repetitive to be really good hand exercise. Looking so forward to new teeth. What I have now is so ageing. Cindy I am not looking forward to the implant procedure. Scary.
Hugs to your gamer son, betrayal. I know if that happened to my son, it would be absolutely devastating. But remember the guy who had a million dollars' worth of bitcoin, and he lost the password to his account? No, generally employees of a company do not have access to passwords, because of liability issues.
